Bolet plays Liszt Transcendental Etude No. 12
Просмотров 12 тыс.14 лет назад
Liszt's Transcendental Etude No. 12 - Chasse-Neige Jorge Bolet A masterful performance of one of Liszt's most poetic compositions featuring Bolet's hallmark translucent tone and finesse. My only qualm is at the end, where he and Cziffra both inexplicably play forte.

Lugansky plays Schumann Toccata in C Major
Просмотров 49 тыс.14 лет назад
Schumann's Toccata in C Major, Op. 7 Nicholai Lugansky, 2004 One of the most articulate performances of the famed toccata, free of bombast while boasting the sensitivity to inner voices and sheer virtuosity only a few pianists can claim. Recordings of the symphonic etudes and sonata to follow.

A tribute to Franz Liszt also - there are moments of 'transcendental' magnitude. So we have Wagner and Liszt, two mystical giants ever constructing their mythical castles.

I think this is great. Difference for me is how percussive the piano is. A lot of the "percussion" comes from the recording technology of the day, but the talent of the artist is plain to hear, as it were. ,

What a surprise! He takes this Scherzi at a somewhat slower tempi and it works so well. Super clean legato as you can hear every note. I just love this.

Recently, I had the treat to hear this piece first in a live piano performance. No better way to be introduced to something new. I was not aware of this gem in the piano repertoire, after many years of playing and listening to others. It so captures the essence of Wagner's orchestration and you don't have to sit through one of Wagner's incredibly long operas to enjoy it.
