We drove alot more on this trip and it was well worth it!! The mighty Kia Gnarnival fitted everything in, just. Heres the last few trails from Squamish, Whistler, across to Revelstoke and passed the Kamloops gravel pit on the way, before finishing in Vancouver.

      yes, i've no interest in full power mtb, even if it was lightweight, i like getting the fitness out of cycling too! I think this bike is a great compramise. I recently rented the non ebike version gen6 slash at home and tried it on less epic trails haha, it still works absoutley fine on smooth blue level trails and then obviously works really well on horrible rough sections with rear wheel catch roots.

    Review of the shop in the description. Really liked the bike. My next bike may well be a high pivot, after riding this and a deviate highlander, i love the way the high pivot rides. Range was excellent, eco matches you to 150w, so coming from a non ebiker, this feels amazing and almost doubles my speed if im climbing normally. Range in eco: i did 4500ft that day and still had over 50%left ( i did the whole descent in turbo, which included some flat out level/climb sections) Significantly better than the less than 5000ft i got out of a Transition Relay. Legs wise, i felt like id hardly done a climb! Negatives: The price vs spec, it had entry level fox rhythm suspension and shimano brakes. To be fair, they seemed to work well on the day. The non ebike gen 6 slash xt is the same price though! When did Trek get so expensive haha

    The Fazua is more efficient then the TQ, there are several reviews. just the battery is smaller (compared to trek slash+)and the power output higher resulting in less range.

    • @alex737M
      @alex737M Месяц назад

      fair enough, i didn't notice the trek had any less assistance in the eco mode anyway! For me, the relay is a 5000ft bike, the trek is a 10,000ft bike (both in eco) and you can even get a range extender for the trek. Just from feel, the TQ system is a much nicer pedal, the fazua "kicked in" more noticablely and was slightly louder.

    • @tmae-9284
      @tmae-9284 Месяц назад

      @@alex737M the Fazua is 120w vs TQ 99w in Eco. Fazua 430wh vs TQ 580wh. (Fazua release a 480wh same size/weight and the 210wh REX in 2025). TQ is said to derate in longer climbs with higher power output then eco, Fazuas reliability is still bad. Fazua loader then TQ…. So both systems have their merit/demerit. I prefer the Fazua if it works 😅

      Interesting, as the TQ on the slash definately matched me to a 150w max in eco(ive seen some screenshots of the app confirming this too), my mate rented a fuel exe, and the TQ only matched to 100w on that. Looks like they mabye increased the eco power on the slash to compensate for adding a bigger battery. explains why i thought it gave me similar assistance to the fazua on the relay then! The trek has a 25% larger battery, but seems to have 100% more climbing ability at the same 150W output in eco then! For me, the range on the relay would mean id constantly be worrying about the battery even using eco mode, wheras the trek, id say i would finish the day with battery left over.

      No, i haven't tested that. But this trek was excellent. From what ive ridden so far, this was better than the transition relay by quite a bit. The price seems ok on this one too. The motor and battery combo on this worked really well, i'd say it would last 10,000ft climbing in eco! I'm coming from a non ebike, so the power in eco mode felt great, it matches you up to 150w in eco, which i felt was loads.

      Interesting! i was quite disapointed with the relay, but mainly the motor and battery combination seem to mean not much climbing. The ring controller thing was awful, and the LED wern't as good as the screen on the trek. I rode both in medium, the trek was longer and just felt better for me anyway. I was immediatly comfortable on it. And if you go tthe trek the TQ motor and that bigger battery should mean alot more range for you

    I had my first e-bike rental day up the Golfie last weekend. 5000+ ft on a Kenevo with range extender and still had 65% at the top of the top of Big Baw which was our last but one descent (we finished with Spanner). Not sure what I had at the top of Spanner as I had swapped my range extender with a lad that had used his. My real point is that the difference in battery use over the day was massively down to fitness. The first full fat had blown his battery by 1pm. When mine was showing 66%, the other full fat read 16%. Both these lads are of the larger size and unfit. I spent the day in eco and rode with a high cadence. What a feeling though, golf club to the bottom of the TVA in 12 minutes with a big smile on my face :) Its a shame that S2 Kenevo's have no room for a proper dropper post... Enjoy the trails, looks amazing.

    • @alex737M
      @alex737M Месяц назад

      yea, I used eco the whole day and would say i'm very fit, i'd do 5000ft on my own without an ebike and pass most people easily on the climb, i can quite often beat less fit people on full power ebikes up the spooky wood climb in glentress, so this bike actually would limit what i could do in a day normally!! I rented a kenevo sl a few years back and got 4800ft out of the 160wh extender alone. And the trek i rode did 4500ft in eco and didnt even use half battery. The fazua motor must not be particulary efficient, if id used the middle mode or turbo, the bike wouldnt have got very much climbing at all!

      haha yes, that will be a shock when you get back on it!! And no rear suspension will make it very uncomfortable!! I find though, my full suspension feels incredible after riding the hardtail for a bit, and i actually make lines i haven't ridden before because of how much more confidence i have in it

      I didn't just ride the red loop that day, I went round to Golfie afterwards, so it wouldn't be much use to you. I'd have to create another profile, as i've lots of private rides on my trailforks accont too! But this loop is part of the official trail centre, so is very well signed, even with the storm closed trails its not haard to follow. www.trailforks.com/route/innerleithen-red-xc/?activitytype=1&z=12.8&lat=55.60804&lon=-3.02861&content=trails,labels,nst,poi,directory,polygon,waypoint,routes_featured try that, it looks like the official route, but includes some of the now closed sections

    Hell Yair! Nice to see you back on the bike mate and cheers for more osmo testing. I'm still finding the balance. Last I tried 1/200 and 1600 ISO. Check my Dyfi vid and it was basically pitch black in the woods. Will try 1/400 and 3200 tomorrow.

    • @alex737M
      @alex737M 5 месяцев назад

      Aye, i watched yours, it was obvious when you switched to the gopro footage though! The stabalisation dissapeared in the low light! Yes, the 1/800 completly gets rid of the microblur on the hits, but the ISO goes right up even in pretty bright light to the point i could see noise on my gloves easily. 1/400 seems to be best compramise. I left the max iso at 6400, but I dont think it probably reached that with the 1/400 setting and how bright the day was.

    Hey mate, love your vids. Also just upgraded from the Hero 8 to the Osmo Action 4 and whilst I love the camera, I've just come back to watch some of my recordings and I have that same stutter-blur on hits and glitching/ghosting in dark spots. Ironically filmed at the Golfie too lol. Is the fix -2 Noise Reduction, Auto 1/200, Auto EV -0.3 and 100-12800? I don't really want that grainyness in the woods and don't mind if it gets dark in the woods... Just want that blur and glitching to disappear. Sorry it just wasn't too clear from the video. Thank you for your help! btw ever ridden Penmanshiel?

    • @mtb-mania
      @mtb-mania 6 месяцев назад

      I've set: -2 Noise Reduction -1 Sharpness (can touch up in davinci after) -0.7 EV 1/100~1/8000 SS 100~3200 ISO Auto white balance Overall still super impressed with the camera. Much much better than GoPros offerings, the 155° sensor captures depth/steepness much better and just captures a much more realistic image overall... Thanks for the video, Alex! Weekend at Dyfi coming up and can't wait to see the outcome :)

    • @alex737M
      @alex737M 6 месяцев назад

      haha, once you see the stutter blur you cant unsee it! yea its overall a much better camera, the colour balance is signifcantly better, I always found the gopro turns the ground and trees brown and i couldnt get rid of it. Osmo the colours are like real life. I reccomend using voice start/stop it works really well, and the button is almost useless lol From what ive worked out the ghosting is the noise filter. -2 is the only setting it doesnt have the filter running, so its the only setting that doesnt ghost. THe noise only happens when the ISO is high (when its dark) so having it on -2 doesnt affect any vids except the really dark stuff. I find the filter smears the image too, reducing clarity, so il be keeping i off even in bright conditions. From my understanding for the grain you need to limit the MAX ISO : the higher it is the more grain..but the better it sees in darkness. from the vid you can see even 6400 max still has grain, so maby experiment with lower max setting like 3200 yes. My vid from NYNY, it will have been on 12800, hence the grain, but, ive never seen a vid in that darkness thats actually watchable, because gopro just looses stablisation and the whole image moves, the DJI actually has solid stabilisation still. Shutter speed, ( I cant test this at the mo, broken wrist, but mabye even try 1/400 rather than 1/100 minimum) the microblur on hits would be caused by the camera moving before the whole pic is taken, so speeding up the min shtter speed should reduce this further.
