Finally set up my latest PC to dual-boot with Windows 7, specifically to run black MIDIs. Was a major challenge to get everything working properly, but it’s done!
The OS feels like two sides of the same coin: while the benchmarking performance is more stable and slightly better compared to newer systems, the screen rendering can be sluggish at times. Interestingly, it has the same behavior with my previous i7-4790K setup, so perhaps it has to do with the kernal’s DWM implementation.
As you may have noticed, only the P cores are active in this setup. This is intentional, as the E cores aren’t necessary for this workload. Also, disabling them also made it easier to crank up the cache frequenc...
