I saw Eddie/Suzy live when the Sexie show was being recorded in the early 2000's (I'm on the DVD somewhere), and will be seeing her in 2 weeks doing Hamlet in Bexhill. I've been a fan since Unrepeatable, but Definite Article was the big game changer which thrust her into the mainstream. As the trans thing slowly became more apparent, it was almost refreshing to see no-one gave a toss because Eddie was already approaching legend status. It's probably why I've always been so accepting of the trans community, despite being surrounded by several people that are anything but. Am I an ally? Dunno. I bite my tongue when certain things are said within earshot, but there have been times where I've had to speak up because the conversations I've overheard could be interpreted as malicious & bordering on dangerous. Weirdly, the only person I knew who was almost violently & aggressively opposed to Trans people turned out to be a member of a far-right hate group, and died at the age of 44. Weird, that.

When I first saw Eddie, who then identified as a transvestite, I was in a deeply religious bubble and a very sheltered teenager who didn't even know any LGBT people. Her humour and intelligence made me fall absolutely in love with her, even though she so contrary in her presentation to all my presumptions about masculinity and femininity. I've gone on my own journey, from not having the language to understand myself, to knowing myself as bi and poly and trying to be a better trans ally after years of being in transphobic circles. I'm so proud of Eddie for coming out and being able to be herself, and showing everyone that's she's still the same wonderful, hilarious and funny woman she's always been.

PS Are you sure that Mandela that you met and ran for, was legit? Heard of the Mandela Effect? Rabbit hole right there. 😉

Hey Eddie. Love you. Followed your work from sunny South Africa for yerzzzz. I even found a way, my wife and I, to see you in NYC in 2016. What a cool experience that was. I’m 58 years old and gay since I can remember. Hard, as you say. The ‘prickly gift’. Now, although you may have your very deeply researched reasons for saying Donald Trump is a liar to create a contrast for your truth telling, and you are an intellectual giant in my estimation… but I’d probably not fall for the MSM narrative that he is so. I’d challenge you to dig deeper on that one. If you have the appetite. I felt the same way as you for a long time. Then, when our green cards to emigrate to the USA were revoked by the same Donald Trump due to lock down, so that American people could get those jobs (happened to two other families that I know of from South Africa - and one was already in the USA) I got thinking. And questioning. He isn’t a saint and needs to learn to dance and a few things, but… there are definite excellent things that he has done for the US and for the world. Definitely. So, please do come back to South Africa and let’s play some golf, climb Table Mountain, drink great wine and debate the secrets of the powers that be and should not be! Much love to you!

I just started watching Swing dancing. I'm am a 75 year old lady. I started following certain dancers that I enjoyed. Many different people came up in my feed. The first time I saw you dance I fell in love with your energy and ability. Tonight I saw your retirement and was sad. I was a few years behind here. I was so impressed how you gave credit to so many others. You seemed like such a kind and loving person. Below in the feed there was this video. I thought it was you but wasn't sure. I clicked on it and found out that you have so much history. You are such an amazing person and will forever be making a difference in others lives. If there were more people in the world like you., the world would be a much kinder peaceful place to live.
