You did very good with this review! I bought the GE dryer and was looking at washer. I currently have the magic chef 1.7 no problems at all but just in case lol I like to do my research.

I have had my ge portable washing machine (previous model to this one) for 9 years and it still works great. I move it to the sink and connect/disconnect every time and on averavge use it for about 4 loads of laundry a week. One suggestion I will make is instead of buying an extended warrenty ( I think that is what you mean by insurance) , I would put the money towards buying an extra set of dampening rods (they are the 4 spring rods that hold the washer barrell in place) when you buy this (or any other new portable washing machine) why? While the washer is a very well made machine and almost all of the parts will continue to function for many years, even outlasting an extended warrenty. the dampeing rods will eventually need replacing on any brand of top loading washing machine as they take a lot of beating over the years. The reason I suggest buying an extra set when you buy this washing machine is that in a few years GE will change the model and design of this machine to a different design so the rods made for this machine will no longer be available and the new ones probably won't fit the old machine. This is common practice for washing machines - planned obsolescence. My 9 year old washer could use new rods but they are no longer available to purchase. The rest of the machine works as well as the first day I bought it. I will continue to use it until the rods fail and then will purchase a new GE portable machine and an extra set of rods. Further to your point about the dark plastic lid... my machine lid is mostly transparent and I like that i can see inside as to what is going on. A dark lid is a dumb design and I would hate that too. i hope they change that part before I need to buy a new one. thanks for your review btw

We have this same G.E. washing machine with the same rack setup. But we are having all sorts of problems with it. Occasionally we get an E3 error, and it won't spin. It's still under warranty. Our technician wants to replace the transmission but G.E. doesn't have any. Now Lowe's wants to buy us out. E-Bay has a transmission but not sure if I can do this by myself and finding another portable washer that size will be difficult.

Hey question… how come it turns off when I press pause? I have to start the cycle Al over which is such a waste of water and time. 😢

Thank you so much for this thorough review. So far this is the only washer I know that can hook up to a regular kitchen faucet for people who do not have separate hot/cold pipes.

thank you for the review. have you tried other portable washing machines? would you say this is a better option than magic check, blacke and decker etc? also does the lid go down slowly automatically or you have to press it down?

my wife bought the same set and stand for our condo. the dryer lacks luster, but gets the job done...eventually. the top loader washer is a 2.8 Beast. so impressed with it and its so quiet.

Thank you. I just ordered the 3.3. I thought about getting another brand but went with GE thinking that if it eventually does need repairs it would be easier to get parts.

You did a great review and you’re using the machine properly. I had this machine for quite a while it’s an excellent Washer probably one of the best portables out there I had mine permanently connected. it really could take a nice size load and does a great job.
