Panelo / Fran - Both black/white mage, Ashe + Vaan = knight/bushi (excalibur + white robes = insane damage on dark mobs) Balthier = Uhlan/foebreaker - Expose/wither - Balthier = Shikari/bushi (Yagyu darkblade + black robes for yiazmat) Also, this is a different version to ps2 so YES you definitely can just use 3 players, license points + jobs literally carry you in this version xd :)
Amazing tutorial. I've played this game for 20 hours for the first time. I didn't see this because i just wanted to learn by myself and search for a complet tutorial after I get how to play. Amazing how this game is so big and, at least the parts that I passed and search on youtube to see the others point of view, there are a lot of things which even the oldest players didn't know... Edit: That is my first final fantasy game.
Thanks for the kind words, this game is massive and as you saw I only covered the opening hours; there is so much more! I hope you're enjoying the original FF7, if you are I would encourage you to go back in time and experience the older entries as well as continue to move onto FF8.
when at shinra HQ, the hojo laboratory level (same floor that has cells the party is put in) in the hall south of the cells there is an enemy encounter. "Soldier 3rd class" (you must do this before meeting hojo. since jenova changes things) you can obtain the Hardedge by stealing from them. a Cloud weapon which will still be his best even at Nanikis village.
this was a really good video, im trying the original ffvii for the first time
Like if you are watching this in 2024. Happy gaming! :)
One last tip... Do not sell Gemsteel, you will need it for the best two handed sword of the game(and my favourite... This is comming from a ffxii veteran...
i hate the "new" license board.
If you get this game on PC there are mods to change the license board in several ways.
When I played this the first time I was like 14. It's definitely one of my favorites of all time. To breed a gold chocobo was hard. The Internet was less reliable in every sense so when I found a good breakdown I wrote it down on paper. It was like stereo directions but with trial and error I finally got it and it was the best of times. It gives me a lotta nostalgia.
Oh my soul watching that gemsteel be sold randomly. The bazaar does get items on specific sets of sold things. And can be a method for some fairly strong stuffs. Buf for a standard playthrough it's probably fine
I think for a casual play-through it doesn't matter, lol but probably should have been more clear about that in the video.
@@FrocketGaming Ya a casual playthrough literally any method will work so long as you have some sustain (doesn't even need to be a healer, but helps). As for the early game healer before Ashe. Yu can just sell 1-2 diamond armlets from the first trial stage and buy a full stock of potions. That will get you through the part until you get ashe (alongside Larsa in the Lhusu mines). That said I still set fran as a healer every playthrough. I always have 2 healers specifically to keep my party levels relatively even. Though a redmage is more than enough with cura, until a kinght or something picks up curaja later. So it's not even needed for that. But I like having it since archers are horribly underpowered in zodiac age, paired with fran natively low stats. Though I only use her when leveling things up.
Can anyone tell me what the writing means: double growth, in weapons
Growth is referring to the AP that you earn towards the Materia equipped. If you are using the Rune Blade for Cloud, which is Double Growth, then the Materia on this equipment will earn twice as much AP.
Man, thank you so much for this video of yours, I started playing this marvel yesterday but unfortunately the game doesn't explain almost anything to you. thank you again. it's all very clear, I just didn't understand how AP points for materie work, how they are earned and how they are leveled? Someone can help me?
AP is earned from battles and it applies to the materia that you have a equipped to each character. As the quality of the materia improves you can unlock better versions of the materia or more uses for it.
Great video for beginners, probably the only thing I also recommend would be getting enemy skills as early as possible because they are broken
I agree, if I were to make a part 2 I would include the various enemy skills that are worth getting early on; such a Big Guard.
10 hours in and I didnt know you could run from encounters
9:58 I think I can hear your cat jumping in the background lol
Certainly possible!
I actually killed the snake first try or it ran away or something
Also making the windows all black is best on the eyes imo
Bolt/All is a godsend in midgar
always set to active. first thing i do and everything set to fastest cuz who wants to wait?!
Thanks for the video. I grew up on 8-bit and 16-bit systems and played a few JRPGs like Dragon Warrior and Chrono Trigger but couldn't get into the genre. I remember renting FF VII over a weekend and having the same, "It's cool, just not for me," feeling. I still wanted the action-platformer or arcade-esque experience I guess. I'm now using the Miyoo Mini + to go back and play some of the JRPGs I missed out on, mainly on PSone and SNES. Currently playing through Suikoden, FF VIII (which was my first real step into the genre), and FF VII. This is my 3rd time playing FF VII and this video definitely helped.
Imo, you just need to make it past Midgar and the Kalm section of the game before it really opens up and gets enjoyable. :)
This is the best starter guide! I played FF12 back in highschool when it first came out on ps2. I didn't get it back then. Just bought it for the switch glad I gave it another shot. Thanks for the guide!
Love the way you elaborate thanks
Due to the internet, I'm uncertain if this is sarcastic or not but regardless, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment!
when you get to higher levels the materia combos really shine. Final Attack + Pheonix with auto revive you and do damage when that character dies. Absorb MP/HP + knights of the nine (or any multi hit spell like comet2 or the 2x cut materia) will greatly restore your resources. that materia that lets you cast death + add status materia will give you a chance to just insta kill things if you put it on your weapon. also the ghost of the gi tribe you fight with red xiii can be killed with an x potion or pheonix down. like most undead in the FF games they take damage from healing spells. always use that sense materia to see what you are fighting.
Certainly a lot of fantastic options and setups for later. The combos could be a video on its own without a doubt.
"Hey guys here are some tips and tricks. #1. do whatever you want lol it doesn't really matter" cool video
The time spent getting the Beta enemy skill from the snake is better than the time spent getting a chocobo
I was using the w item glitch duping elixirs in northern cave. Tonberries get easy if u use 4 hero drinks. Dupe 99 of them bad boys lol. I already beat the game I'm bored af.. anyways hero drinks add like 25% power/magic/defenses, up to 4 total. Also a fast way to get 3rd Ribbon is morphing the Ochu in special battle or master tonberries.. which have 44k HP tho... also you can duplicate items in northern craters, send everyone left except Tifa, then send everyone up (2nd fork) except Vincent, Cait Sith, Cloud. You'll get 2 counters and a 3rd Mystile.. Mystile is the best armor. Also Elemental materia adds damage, like 10 15 23 percent.. low level it helps with lightning or Chocobo summon (wind). Most are weak to wind or not strong to it anyways...
If you make a video about the original FF7, you should use an image from the original game in the thumbnail. Not an image from the Remake. I really don’t like inconsistency.
This video is exactly what I needed! Thank you for creating it, great job!
pretty much only the Basics
FINALLY! Someone else who understands that ATB is not "turn-based" combat. I always feel like I'm screaming at a wall when I try to tell people that.
Fury Vs. Sadness. For many, Sadness is an easy status to pick; it reduces incoming damage, so it seems like a no-brainer. However, there's more to this status than just that. While it does reduce incoming damage, it also reduces how much limit gauge you gain per point of damage taken. Fury, by contrast, makes you hit less often but earn limit faster. The thing that differentiates each character from one another is the limit system, and each character has different limits that are more or less important to see. Sadness, with it's unmatched ability to hamper limit growth, can make it so certain strategies are actually harder to pull off.
Fury for life
Ff7 is the single greatest game ever, thanks so much
i’ve never played a final fantasy before because of how intimidating the battle system is. thank you so much for making me feel like i can figure it out.
You've got this, dive right in. I hope you love it.
Steal Hardedge from soldier 3rd class in Hojos lab where Jenova broke out. Right by that save point. Also steal carbon bangle from the moth slashers (those enemies floating on the spike balls.)
I sold my loots. Too late in reading the comments. I had my gamer's instinct but chose to not listen to it😂😅
Just about every time I play this, I sell everything too. It's not a big deal in my opinion.
Great video I haven’t played that much of final fantasy but now I will.
I'm doing my first playthrough ever right now. I've played quite a few ff games. I'm excited to give it a go. Ty for this. I know the first playthrough is the best so I'm excited.
The cover tip for increasing the number of times a particular character is hit to increase their limit gauge is great. I'm trying to get everyone's L4 limits so I will definitely use this one. Another tip is to inflict fury upon them by giving them a hyper; their limit gauge will fill quicker.
i dont get why you said this game isnt turn based... the only difference between 1-3 and 4-13 is that they switched from round robin way of getting turns to everyone having their own individual meter to determine turns. you still have to wait your turn to make an action regardless of what your settings are so its still a turn based game.
It's ATB which is not considered Turn based combat from my understanding. I think you can make an argument for both.
@@FrocketGaming not considered turn based by whom? you literally wait to take your turn...
@@alexclaton People have different opinions, not a big deal.
It's better to sell the mastered all materia and then level the new one you got if not your cutting off your gil supply big time it's a materia you always have on its almost a passive income if you do it that way if there's another way to get free all matera I don't even remember if there is a plus to the levels themselves on the materia so it only makes sense to sell the old one and switch it for the new one
Ah, I see the way I worded it was confusing. That's not what I meant, I certainly meant that you should sell the Mastered version of the all materia.
FF 12 is my favourite in the series... The one that I'm most likely to one day complete... But I'm dismayed by how much i miss out on... I only really spend LP on skills and just use simple gambits... We win fights but, all these techniques etc, I barely know how they work let alone use them... And gambits are so various, it's overwhelming.. especially as I'm playing it on the switch this time (also own on pc and ps, and heck probably xbox too) and the stupid clicky face buttons make me guilty about playing the game too much... I'll rewatch this to try and grind some info into my head
If you spent the time leveling 3 main instead of trying to level them all evenly, you'd find you wouldn't wipe and need to pull in subs mid fight, use your time effectively, I mean, the game is solo-able with just vaan so, no excuses
Im early in the game and got wiped by the bird boss in the desert cause none of my people can hit it so I gotta level up my range hitters and it's annoying. Luckily I found a mod that has exp share with all characters which is *chefs kiss* it's insurgency something on nexusmods.
It blows my mind that people know so much about games like this. I dont even know what's going on 😂 Game seems like it would be great once i get it, but JRPGs always overwhelm me. Really want to get into this game though so im gonna try.
"Keep the levels balanced" is not a good tip. You can rush thru the game a lot faster if you stick to only 3.
W-item best materia in the game.
Just playing for the first time ever lol, what a world.
Here's a tip: Keep an eye out on how much materia you're holding when you get to the Northern Crater. Your other party members will pick up materia when you split them up and if you have too much materia when you regroup, you will lose materia. I lost a ton of mastered materia because I was not aware of the cap and because of it, I will never have Master materia in any category on my master save file.
Yeah I considered this tip for a part 2 video because this game is massive and I had to leave out a ton of content.
@@FrocketGaming Dooooo eeeeeet!
How do you save your game on android
I've never played it on android but I would assume it still uses the save points.
The Concurrence tip was slightly off. It's more about what combination you use. Something like 3x Rank 1 3x Rank 1 2 3 2x Rank 1 2 3 etc Before i found that out i was wasting my time getting 24+ chains and still missing the ultimate ( 4x Each )
great video man it helped a lot with some tips im doing a run right now thank you
Also my favorite game of all time. Im playing it on ps4 after having the original on ps1. I cant wait to breed another gold chocobo
