    The tournament was great to watch, it would've been cool to see Alessandro on stream in stead of like the lost zone mirror or something. The new tournament structure seems pretty awful tho, have to see how it plays out at the bigger events of course. But it seems like we needed more rounds not less, I thought the 6-2-1 going into 7 rounds day two would've been perfect. Just get rid of the 3 turns and do like 60 minute rounds even turns and we wouldn't have the extra 10-20 minutes on rounds for turns

    I would have put iron thorns as an A tier pick just because of how good it's online data is. The sample sizes aren't amazing but they are actually pretty reasonable. I do think it's better than Miradon against Charizard, Lugia and Dragapult just because of how good denying abilities is in those matchups. IDK how much creedence to give online data but I give it a lot of credit, before NAIC it would have said the best deck was Lost box, Followed by Gardevoir, followed by lugia and that raging bolt was a trap. Then in NAIC Lugia and Raging bolt got crushed while Lost box and Garde did really well. So online data was 3/4 in its calls (and lugia's data wasn't *That* bad at NAIC) that's pretty good.

    I thought they should've lowered IC points but they decided to raise them. All the regionals in America are basically IC's at this point and it doesn't make sense to have them that much different. Overall I think a lot of players could chill out a little bit and realize fun is supposed to be the priority when playing the game

    • @SpillTheTeaCGPodcast
      @SpillTheTeaCGPodcast 2 месяца назад

      We think bringing them closer does a lot to close the gap and with the increases for higher finishes being quite a lot more the high placements even more worth it! Agree with the sentiment that the mindset does need to alter a little! There’s so much more to the competitive Pokémon TCG scene than worlds!

  • @J86237

    Will the Pokemon Company fire you if you don't play the pronouns game and call men 'he' and women 'she'? It's pretty infuriating hearing you call men "they" all the time, especially when we already have to put up with their antics of dressing and attempting to chemically alter their bodies to imitate women. It's very obvious TPCI has a social engineering and marketing agenda revolving around the rainbow stuff but surely in the name of inclusivity and equality TPCI wouldn't enforce labour practices compelling casters to call a man a 'they' instead of a 'he'. If dudes have the right to invent new alter egos called natalie or freya then those dudes will definitely be accepting of everyone else's right to call them he's. No reason to play the "they" game or even worse, refer to someone in a way completely opposite of their biology unless you're being forced by Pokemon to speak that way. It's pretty obvious the entire top end of the competitve scene is of the rainbow persuasion so maybe you're just trying to play the politics game and stay in everyone's good books but as a caster you're supposed to be impartial and altering your language is clearly siding with a specific ideology and larger social agenda. For the most diverse, equal and inclusive experience you shouldn't be promoting one side more than any other and every person is solely responsible for the reaction to their life choices. Having a protected class that's endlessly accomodated would be a contradiction to equality. I also understand that getting to work for TPCI is like winning a lottery and everyone is happy to go along with whatever to keep the dream alive but being silent and pretending this stuff isn't happening further proves it is and there's a larger agenda within the comapny, especially through the production of events. If Pokemon (and the casting/ production staff they hire to represent them) believes their practices are good, then there shouldn't be any issue discussing the indoctrination and promotion of their politics. All I want is to get a little hyped from Charizard being shiny on a piece of paper but instead I get hit with these 12 hour streams of heavy culture wars spotlighting and by extension normalizing the most obscene and disturbed people. If our common interest is a cerebral endeavour then let's at least maintian some semblance of composure when calling men and women he and she.

      There’s so much to digest here. We do our best to cater to everyone, as we should and make sure our game can be as inclusive as possible. Likely all casters use “they” a lot based just general terms and how people communicate in their natural language. There are no such thing as sides in this matter and we will continue to make sure this space can be as inclusive and diverse as possible. We are very privileged in our positions to be able to work with TPCi and we know this. We’re here to make sure everyone can enjoy the production as much as possible as the face and voice of it all. We hope as part of the wider team that we cater to the masses!

  • @pokethread3956

    The main negative I see is they continue to reduce the amount of regionals and now we are reducing the rounds that you play at those regionals. Unfortunately, in my area there’s only two accessible regionals this year and the one for the first half happens to fall on a weekend that I can’t go, the lower frequency of events makes it harder for people with busy schedules to actually be able to go to events without having to fly all over the United States

    • @SpillTheTeaCGPodcast
      @SpillTheTeaCGPodcast 2 месяца назад

      We’ve still got half a season to be announced, so there still second might be one that is accessible for you! Otherwise would it be possible to substitute one of those you’d usually try go to for one further afield with some additional planning ahead of time to do so? Reducing the rounds is a shame, does maybe give even more of an opportunity for someone to spike and take down an event! Who knows exactly how that will play out!

    Lots of positive changes, Surprised at smaller junior levels, given that TCG numbers at regionals in EU anyway seem to have risen fast and are either as big or bigger than seniors. Also given the masters age demographic..I suspect junior numbers will keep on rising in the next few years.

    Premier Pokemon TCG Trainer Division In response to the ongoing world championship discussion, please consider the below restructure. Create a new TCG division that is above Masters. This Premier division becomes the TCG’s e-sports league with a focus on elite competition and cash prizing. Masters becomes the hobbyist’s league with a focus on player recognition. Below discusses the general distinctions between Premier and Masters divisions. PREMIER DIVISION: -128 players. Cannot compete in Junior, Seniors, or Masters major events. -Bottom 32 players relegated at the end of the season. Top 32 players compete at Worlds. This creates four TCG World Champions: Junior, Senior, Masters, and Premier World Champion. -Invites to the Premier division come from top X Masters. -Invites to the Premier division may be offered to the top X Senior players (e.g. World Champion). -Premier players earn premier championship points at majors and ICs. Regular CP is meaningless and does not count towards their standings. Premier players may compete at cups and challenges, but their outcomes have no bearing on their season standings since no Premier CP is awarded at locals. -The Premier season is comprised of only major events and do not include the SPEs. -Since SPEs are cashless, they are only for Junior, Seniors, and Masters and become an event celebrating the hobbyist (think amateur championships in golf). SPEs also bring a focus to competition in regions that have smaller player bases. -Cash prizing is significantly reduced from the Masters division in support of meaningful cash prizing in the Premier division. -Top 64 travel stipend. The top 64 Premier players receive equal money to supplement travel to every major event. Intent is to restructure present day travel stipend funds, not increase TPCI’s travel stipend obligations. -Premier meta becomes more strategic. Premier players avoid round 1 poke-parent meme decks. -The Premier division fits entirely within the current tournament apparatus and does not require any new events. Additionally, there would be minimal, if any, staffing increases (reduce the number of Masters participants by 128 and allocate those tables and judges to the Premier division). -Eventually, TPCI could leverage this professional division as their e-sports league and integrate e-sports types of exposure and revenue streams that would benefit the company and create increased earning potentials for the players. MASTERS DIVISION: -Cash prizing is reduced significantly (e.g. $2k for champion, $1k for 2nd, etc.) but stamped cards and mats are increased (e.g. day two cards, top 64 cards, top 32 cards and mats, etc.) -Top 4 at majors (to include SPEs) receive auto invite to Worlds. -Worlds can remain a CP threshold, but limited to the following BFLs: 3 majors, 1 IC, 1 cup, 3 challenges. This reduces the potential personal funds outlay required by a hobbyist player seeking a worlds invite through excessive travel. Furthermore, those making worlds will have to have had good finishes vice a large collection of middling performances. In conclusion, creating a Premier division creates the environment that recognizes and rewards the strongest Pokemon competitors while also carrying forward the heritage and celebration of the hobbyist player competitor

    I do understand the frustration of top players not getting a place at ICs and Regionals due to capacity, when they need CP to reach worlds. I think the system is flawed in that sense, but as a fairly new player and just getting into the grind, I have appreciated being able to compete at Liverpool & EUIC this year. It would suck if I wasn't able to secure a spot as they were filled already by the top players (just like it sucks for the top players who aren't able to secure a place). I had an absolute blast at EUIC (and managed to secure 50cp!). Maybe the fairest way, at least for ICs/regionals is for top 32 (or top 64?) to get a guaranteed spot at the next regional? I echo the below comment, I really enjoy going to cup and challenges and I make sure I go to all those I'm available for in my area even though I have no shot at Worlds this season. I don't mind if there aren't incentives, as I just enjoy playing but it would be great if there were - then maybe the turnout would be much better which is ultimately better for the players and also the shops! Great podcast!

    I like Joe's idea re their being more incentives for gaining CP. I havent been playing very long, I have 50 something points this season. I went to EUIC, didnt do very well and dropped after round 7 when I could've still earnt points had I won my last 2 games. However, because I know I cant qualify for worlds I just didnt see the point of playing 2 more rounds (also i just wasnt feeling it at this point and knew i chose the wrong deck). However, if some more incentives existed, i.e for every 100 CP you earn a season you get an exclusive promo card, I probably wouldve played out my last couple rounds at EUIC and tried to get some points. Im still attending challenges even though I know worlds isnt possible, but it would nice to have something other to aim for than just worlds. Re having a higher mandatory player threshold to issue points at local events, I think its a complicated issue. I attend a number of different stores in my county. I play a lot in chaos cards in folkestone which always has a good player turnout, however the store in my hometown, ashford, only has 4-6 masters on any given week. Whilst i understand why people think you shouldnt get points if only 4 players attend a challenge, i think this stipulation could kill some locals before they even have the chance to grow because people would just stop attending. I understand it seems odd that you get the same amount of points for winning a locals that has 30 players, as you do winning a locals that has 4, but like Joe said some stores will sufffer because of this. Also just because a cup has more players doesnt necessarily mean its a harder competion. You could have a cup with 6 world class players, and it would be harder tournament to win than playing in a cup with 20 average players. Anyway, this is my first time listening to the podcast, really enjoyed it.

    How is this not becoming the main topic of our times? It's completely obvious...how you found all that info is mind blowing...I just wish I had the power to do something about this. I would make them pay and force them to admit the whole thing. This truth belong to everyone. Imagine the life of adventure we could all live if we could freely roam the bigger earth! Every one should know. Why is it that only so few can get what you're showing us? Is there a way we could petition countries involved with the Antarctic treaty to tell the truth? The ancients left us messages, clues? Are they telling or inviting us to leave? Could we actually survive if we left our "crater"? I remember a movie I watched when I was a child, it was a group of people with some children who seemed lost in an ice-world. At the end, they discovered a passage through a mountain and on the other side it was beautiful world completely different, no snow but paradise like.
