This one's not actually coded. The braking action seems to be electric rather than mechanical. A true Sterling Code Siren, in theory, is much much quicker. This one, however, is a longrotor heads, so it's still pretty rare.

This is just called a Sterling Model M, names like M-10, Y-10, M-5, ect. are misnomers. These are all called Model Ms, K-5s and models of that series are called 5VXs or 3VXs respectively. The only names that aren't misnomers are Little Giants and 2V8s.

This was way quieter than I expected out of an STH-10, since it was my first time hearing one in person. I was a good 383 feet away but it should have still been pretty loud since you can hear these miles away and stuff.

The wind down is too fast. That’s one thing I don’t like hearing. But I understand that it’s an old siren and probably with the original control box that probably hasn’t had work done on it in a long time

This is definitely a poorly mounted siren. For a pole mount configuration, there needs to be enough clearance between the top of the pole and the intake in order for the siren to produce efficient projected sound it was designed for. Probably ended up rigging lag screws in the wood through whatever is left of the welded thread inserts on the intake itself (originally meant for fastening the 3 angle iron legs), leaving a risky couple inches gap between the impeller and the pole. 😬

I have never seen the pole inside the intake before. This is probably why it doesn't seem as loud on the wind up and down.
