Добавлен 23 июн 2022
The Board Game Gateway group is a bunch of friends who all share a love for getting around the table and sharing experiences together. The creation of the podcast and the youtube channel is an excuse for them to meet up on a regular basis and discuss what it is about this hobby they love so much and play games with each other.
More than that though they want to share this passion with you and give you a place to learn about why you may enjoy it as well. We hope to be able to get guests and members of the community into the podcast in the future, and hope that you will want to come and join our community.

Ep 046 | Whats the matter McFly? Chicken?
Nearly 2 years since we launched this episode and this still rings true.
Great job guys! Just started playing and the strategy/tips you gave are things people really do IRL
Glad to hear you are enjoying the content. We have had a lot of games where we have deployed these or watched others do these as well. We love trying to help you all because we know how intimidating it can be to play especially when people know the game and you don't.
"trouble brewing took 5 years to develop" damn 1:25:00
So amazing to hear the backstory of the game. It was created in such an organic way "the storyteller was made so I could have fun"
That is what makes this game fun for EVERYONE! Love it.
Similar to Unlock/Exit, the Holiday Hijinks are great puzzle escape room games. On the logic side, Logic & Lore and Shipwreck Arcana are great number logic games. Shipwreck Arcana is cooperative, Logic & Lore is competitive, but players can play at different difficulty levels (you can see this one on my channel). Paint the Roses and Cryptid are solid deduction games to check out as well.
These are great options as well. We haven't played Logic & Lore or Shipwreck arcana but now I need to go and have a look. Sounds super interesting.
Is this clip part of a podcast or where can I find that deep dive convo!
Hey mate, yes it is. It is Episode 58 which you can find here: ruclips.net/video/jglSszmrUqw/видео.html
Another great podcast. The boffin script that i made was lots of fun to play. I am A big carcassonne fan but i am Now tempted to pick up a copy of land and sea and try it.
We love that you made it, also the word Boffin is just so fun to say as well. Is there anything you think we should cover / want to our thoughts on?
@@bggateway i have a question for your question segment of the podcast. “Do you buy a board game based on the artwork/ theme or do you buy it because of how the game is played/ the style of the game?”
You guys deserve more subscribers. Good quality content.
Thanks for the compliment mate, we are still working on getting the quality of the audio back to where we want it but we are super happy to hear that you are enjoying the content. Is there anything you think we should cover / want to our thoughts on?
@@bggateway Hey... i'm new here. I need to see more past videos. Can't give tips before I see more. Tkank you.
Did part of this episode get cut off or is it meant to be 15 minutes long? Great topic
Hey mate, this was just the Discussion part of the full episode. If you want to see the rest of this episode is it this one: ruclips.net/video/n-eW-qiCsRk/видео.html
Great podcast. I love playing board games for the social interaction you have with other people. I would happily play a board game with someone over watching a movie with them. Keep up the good work with the podcast.
Thanks so much for your feedback :) That is easily the best part about board gaming!
What an inspiring video. Thank you so much for all the insights.
We are glad you enjoyed it, he was great to interview
Great to see the Original stuff!
Great points made! there are games for everyone. I dont particularly enjoy long form 18XX board games, but I love heavy player interaction games, whether it is Coup or TI. Having some friends who exposed me to a variety of board games helped heaps! I think monopoly, cluedo and other early 90s games may have soured peoples concept of what a board game or table top game is or what they can be
That guy with the backwards cap is handsome devil.
Great Discussion and Great to have Joel back to discuss what got us into board gaming and why do we still play games!
How are you playing this on PC!? I just know!
Hey mate, we either play on Board Game Arena or on Table Top Simulator. This particular clip was us playing on Tabletop Simulator using Discord to communicate with each other.
For me it was Citadels, but there have been so many games that open me up to heavy economic games as well.
Very cool. I enjoy hearing Steven Medway talk about his game.
We super enjoyed having him on our Podcast to get to know him and how he came up with the game.
Great to see the weekly content and Leo for coming on.
Glad you enjoyed it
Was a great moment :D Now just need to see what happened with Blayke and Ralph after this.
@bggateway I love the "Jims Terraforming" card so good
Keen to watch this one! Was a great recording and back to form!
Glad to be back at it.
👀
Sorry this took so long to get out. A to of stuff has been going on, but we are super glad to be able to get it out now :)
Yo lads - don't know if you caught the shout out to you guys from Noobs on the gooftower interview with Steven medway yesterday
Someone else had reached out to us about it, that is sick!
1:37:05 I've always felt that the mark of a good game is that it's fun even when you lose. I'm glad to know that the developer is conscious of that as well. Great interview, and great game!
Great podcast. Looking to see you there at Clocktower Con. Nelson
Ralph will be there, make sure you accuse him of being the demon! Any of them.
Great podcast/video with Theo. Keep up the amazing work
Thanks! Will do!
That was such a good conversation, thanks all!
Glad you enjoyed it!
No thanks
Great video! That Avery person seems very knowledgeable, you should have them back on sometime 😂
Is it just me, or is the audio all over the place? its too quiet, I turn it up, then I get blasted by a very loud laugh.
It is something we are working on. Thanks for bringing it up as well because i wasn;t sure through it. First couple of times we are trying out the new audio gear. It also doesn't help our laughs are 4x as loud as speaking volume
"The Original Storyteller" - that's one heck of a title!
We thought so too, but he deserves the title.
I've had my first two games tonight as Storyteller and it was a blast everyone loved it as i did and I don't really like social deduction games but this game doesn't feel like just a game it feels like the village really comes to life and as a storyteller it's your duty to keep that momentum going. The first game was a bit challenging to get everything almost to work but when it works it's just fantastic. Sometimes i couldn't even hide my smirks😅
We are so glad to hear that. Neeber is planning on doing his first Storyteller Duty for TB in the near future as well We think one of the hardest things to do is not give it anyway whilst you are listening to everyone talk.
@@bggateway i wish him the best of lucks, yeah it's a bit hard to hide your reactions to the chaos you've created 😅 The best part was when the game ended and everyone was talking about what they did wrong or how someone played really good and as the storyteller explaining your decisions is really rewarding
We realised that this was set as unlisted for 2 weeks. So you get 2 uploads in 2 days. Enjoy this one on one chat!
Happens 😅
Yeah, hopefully not too many more times.
Thumbs up for Goose. Honestly still cant believe he decided he wanted in.
Was good to get behind the microphone. Also THUMBS UP FOR GOOSE!!! Doggo just wanted to be part of the podcast after 53 episodes. Doggo at @1:54 & @15:26
This is a terrific interview, thanks for this guys!
Glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully we will get more in the future
I really detest this game. I've tried. I really have. How can a game with such widespread acclaim be such a... slog? But it is. I hate it. There's a little bit of strategy and then a whole lot of dice chucking. I just don't get it.
That’s fair enough, it’s not for everyone. For us it’s the mixture of the deck building vs push your luck. Trying to guess the plans based on what your opponent is building and countering.
@@bggateway Don't get me wrong, I realise I'm the minority. My opinion is completely subjective!
I quite enjoyed this podcast 🫡 Are you going to make a podcast with other scripts (or even custom scripts)?
Thats the plan, we are in the works of the Sects and Violence Script with Bad Moon Rising to be come shortly :) We also have a couple of custom scripts that we have played that we thought we may talk about
This was such a good chat - thanks all.
Our pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it!
Great interview! What a treat!
Glad you enjoyed. It was great to have a chat to him!
Great interview, I liked hearing his own stories about his favorite games and how certain things like revolutionary came just from necessity. I also like his approach that everyone in the game is invested to the end, no one wins or loses before the game ends. Him constantly coming up with new ideas for clocktower and wanting to support the game as long as there is interest makes me very hopeful this game will keep getting new content for a long time to come.
He was great to chat to. We are really excited to see what they come up with and the new interactions we get in the future.
Great interview! We're a regular group that plays this amazing game in person weekly in Brazil!
Thats amazing! We love how the game is played all over the world and are honoured to get to talk to the creator of it.
this was a great watch. some of Steven's answers were very interesting.
They were, getting to hear how he came up with everything was really fascinating. We particularly liked hearing how he made the Storyteller role fun with the "mights" and "shoulds" added in.
This was bloody tremendous lads! Great interview!
Thanks mate, glad you like it. Stephen was a great person to interview.
Cool episode. You guys did a great job
Thanks mate, appreciate it. Got another BotC Video planned for 2 weeks from now.
Thanks for the feedback mate, we are glad you enjoyed it
As if you bring up the TI game?! Bringing up old wounds >:(
The game day was amazing. We were the first to pull out Hues and Cues which I had been dying to try for ages! Thanks also to Damien on teaching us RA. My teenage son really enjoyed that one and the only reason we picked it up was because of the egyptian theme!
We are so glad you had a great day. We were hoping to provide a welcoming, safe and fun experience for everyone and their families!! Safe to say I think we achieved that.
Great to be back and great to playing some new games.
