Yes, the e90 n55 xDrive have secondary cats whereas the RWD do not, very strange. But they’re not required to be removed for tune and I’ve read that others notice no sound/performance difference with them removed

@@harvinsihra-qb7tr so it has the m performance exhaust that came with it from factory, and has aftermarket catless downpipes as well. So you will need to have both to get this sound. You will also need MHD tuning software so that you won’t trip the check engine light (since you won’t have catalytic converters in downpipes anymore) and so it runs properly. Thats probably the most important part! Also I believe the m performance exhausts are different for xDrive and non xDrive e90s (not positive, do some research to confirm so you don’t buy the wrong one!). You can get used m performance exhausts on eBay for around $350 usually. Hope this helps

@@harvinsihra-qb7tr you can use the bimmer.work website to decode your VIN and check that way I believe, or check RealOEM website or contact BMW corporate and ask them to provide a factory build sheet. Although a previous owner may have installed m performance exhaust also. Best bet is to check forums to check the differences and compare photos to what you have. I’m not positive whether or not UK got option for m performance exhaust from factory though, so you’d have to double check to see

Drone can be a bit annoying after hours on highway but no drone under 60mph, and the highway drone is really not bad considering the benefits of everything else, a good trade off. Most other setups would have your ears falling off after 20 minutes on highway comparatively lol

All mods allowed me to pass NY state emissions no problem, 3 years in a row. But you need to have a tune like MHD so that the CEL/Service Engine Soon light doesn’t come on for the catless downpipe, that’s the only thing that will cause the emissions test to fail. A Mercedes tech I’m friends with had this to say: “There’s a new inspection machine now totally different process. We weren’t sure if tuned cars were going to be passing but I have confirmed a couple of tuned catless cars have passed on the new machines. My boys Mazda 3 passed after having a cel for catless dp deleted via tune. I’ve only seen Volkswagens getting flagged but I think you should be fine tbh” Only reason you might fail otherwise is if you bring it somewhere that the techs are looking to be annoying, and start visually inspecting for a catless downpipe. Most places really won’t care (I had mine inspected by a Firestone). They don’t get paid enough to care and their butt isn’t on the line lol Hope this helps

So the exhaust is a factory m performance exhaust, the downpipes are VSRF catless downpipes. You can find OEM m performance exhausts for sale used, my car came with it from factory. If you want to run any tunes (MHD, JB4, etc.) you will need catless downpipes as well as several other bolt-on modifications. If you just want to run the exhaust you don’t need anything else besides the exhaust itself, and it bolts right up. A bit of drone on the highway when cruising with higher RPMs, but it’s really nothing bad, especially with the sound proofing that BMW does on their e90s. Around town there is no drone whatsoever. This is the best all around setup for a balanced daily driver
