This sounds like description of the "Chisholm Trail. There is a much longer trail called the "Western Trail" which ran from Mexico through Texas and other northern states to Canada. They ran 7,000,000 cattle. That trail described by markers along the trail as "The Great Western Cattle Trail. It is called the Western Cattle trail in Wyoming only. Read the book "Finding the Great Western Trail" by Sylvia Mahoney.

Really fantastic video! My dear friend Dr. Claude W. Hibbard grew up in Kansas. He became world famous for his work on Pliocene fossils by developing the technique of screen washing micro vertebrate fossils of small rodents. I used to visit with him several times each year at the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History in Ann Arbor between 1956 through 1973. He was always excited to show me the specimens he collected during his summer field season in Kansas. Over the years, I spent many summers collecting Oligocene and Miocene vertebrate fossils out west because of Hibbie's encouragement. Thank you for making this video available it brought back many memories of my love for Kansas and its amazing fossil heritage.
