round-up. seriously?
I know man, why use something so questionable when he could be using paraquat.
What is your pre-emergent that you use?
Here in Ephrata , Washington we came off on July 2nd aprox. year 2020 , that's when we plant under plastic , last year April 16th 2023 . Kallstrom Sweet Corn
Going to grow cucumbers in a hi tunnel this year for first time. Why do you use 2 strings each plant instead of one? Also spacing on cucumbers?
You can use just one string. We are switching to that method this year. We space the cucumbers 12” apart.
Are you gonna make more videos anytime soon?really like your videos!
how many hours are on your 6410 and 6210?:)
The 6410 is getting close to 7k the 6210 has around 5k. I bought them both used.
@@wardlowfarms906 we bought our 6310 new in 1999 and used it up to 8000 hours. Now our 6115M (we bought that one after the 6310 new) already has around 7300hours also^^....its time for a new 6130M...(i hope) this year.
I love the sound of the 6010 series.:D
the 4 row planter and 2WD tractor look like a great setup! What models is that tractor in the 6010 series?
It is a 6210. It’s been a great tractor!
great video!Nice 6410!We had a 6310...I would give a lot to drive that one again...hopefully I´ll be owning my own someday....that is why I like your videos so much!because of all your 6010 series tractors.:)
Thanks for watching! They have been great tractors for the most part. lol They need a little work but they keep the farm rolling.
@@wardlowfarms906 "they keep the farm rolling" that is the only thing that matters!🙂
What plates do you use when planting green beans? Dose shoups sell them?
They are soybean feed cups from shoup
Lol that’s funny… I did see your other shorts to know what you’re talking about lol maybe you should’ve given him two cookies because he “did not follow the agreement” 🤣 keep’em coming (shorts) 👍🏾
Could you please share information on your dosa Tron with your fertilizer injector? I’m trying to learn more about this. What size you got in are you in about deciding on that one? If there’s somebody that you used it is willing to talk I greatly appreciate any of your help. Thank you very much.
New subscriber, found your channel by accident and liked it. I'll be back for more content.
Thank you so much! We appreciate you watching!
Helluva job,bud! It’s a lot of work
Yes it is. We are into harvest now and can barely keep up
Nice video couple of questions what do you use as a spray before you plant or even afterwards super nice clean garden
We normally use dual before we plant. That is all we use. After it’s planted we use a garden hoe and we cultivate. We are a little behind on videos. It’s not so clean now. We’ve gotten a ton of rain and we’re into harvesting now. It’s hard to keep the weeds out all season long.
Just harvested my kickoff. Man that's some good tasting corn.
We really like it to. I think it’s the best easy corn out there
That was at best three minutes of onion planting with very few relevant details. May want to make your titles a bit more descriptive of the content.
Thanks for the tips!
Great job! I've learned alot on you building the green houses. Thank you! Can't wait of more! 😊❤
Glad you like them! We appreciate you watching!
If your soil test shows you need Magnesium then use it but if it doesn't why would you put it on, it doesn't do anything for blossom end rot no matter what you or anybody else says but you know that, great video just the same.
All the growers I’ve talked to use it. It definitely doesn’t hurt anything to use it and it’s cheap. We’ve had good luck using it but they is always more than one way to do things. Thanks for the comment! We appreciate it!
Kerja keras yg baguss❤👍
Thank you
what is your opinion on microplastic that gets into plant and produces? Plastics that farmers use releases microparticles into the soil and plants ..
Mircoplastics are everywhere and not just from plastic mulch used by farmers. It’s seems to be more of something we breathe in. You can even absorb them from drinking water in plastic bottles. Airborne microplastics can even settle in the soil where no plastic mulch is laid. This seem to be a new trend of topics out there and there isn’t a lot of research to even know the effects. Plants don’t absorb microplastics so my opinion is just to make sure you wash your fruits and vegetables well before you consume them.
Thank you very much.
You are welcome!
Just found you what state you in , nice video , thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
good job
Thanks!
@@wardlowfarms906 yes sir
What is your first and last frost date?
We have gotten frost as late as around May 10th and as early as around October 10th. That’s usually uncommon. Most commonly late April is the last frost and late October for our first frost.
@@wardlowfarms906when do we see a harvest vido
I do the same thing, But i use plastic baling twine, way cheaper. I get it from TSC the orange stuff.
That’s a good idea! The belt loop on the gro-tie twine makes it a little easier for us but it never hurts to try to save some money.
Very nice! Getting ready to build one myself and watching a million YT videos on different ways people made theirs and taking a little in from all. Thanks for sharing and take care! Joel
Thanks! We appreciate it! Good luck with your project!
Thanks for sharing your greenhouse building with all of us & Thank you for your service! You will have an amazing set up once finished, Blessings to you & your family.
Thanks so much! We appreciate it!
wierd looking dog you got there
I thought so to. They told me he was a German Shepherd when I bought him 🤷♂️
Guess he didn’t have sweet corn
He must have ran out lol
Good job brother panama city here👍👍
Thanks! If you noticed I was actually wearing a Panama City sweat shirt. We vacation there almost every year. We love it down there.
5. Super like nice video 🙏👦🏻👈💚🐔🐈🐓
Thank you very much
Does farming pay good even if you have a little bit of equipment and small land?
You would have to define what you think good is lol My wife and I have full time jobs. It definitely isn’t enough to live on by itself. We do make a profit and it pays for itself but it isn’t going to make us rich. We do it because we love to do it.
@@wardlowfarms906 have you ever decided about making hay bales?
Hay isn’t really that profitable in our area. Most people who need hay grow their own. We make more doing what we are doing than producing hay especially with that acres we have.
How far apart are your farms?
About 15 to 20 miles away. It takes about 25 to 30 minutes to get there depending on traffic.
Really nice greenhouse you got there. I have been watching your channel for awhile now and really enjoy the content. I also am located fairly close to your farm so it in nice to see somebody local on RUclips. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!! We’ve got plenty of videos to come. You’ll have to stop in sometime.
That is one hd greenhouse
That’s the way we got it but I don’t think it will blow away anytime soon. 🤣 Thanks for commenting.
what sprocket settings do you run on your planter and did you have to cut the hole bigger on the pumpkin meter?
We actually bought the meters from precision planting and never modified them at all. We ran the sprocket setting on the lowest population listed for corn in our John Deere 7000 planter book. It ended up spacing the pumpkins about 4 feet apart.
@@wardlowfarms906 yes I have the same meters but they aren't working for me. They plant 5 seeds and then leave a 15 foot skip. Would you know of a solution for that?
I don’t have a clue. We’ve never had a problem with ours. They may plant some doubles here and there depending on the seed size but mostly we’ve never had a problem. Do your drive wheels have good contact with the ground? We have had issues with that a time or two. We’ve had them scoot on top of the ground causing the planter units not to turn.
@@wardlowfarms906 yes my wheels have good contact. When I spin the planter by hand it spits out seed but once the planter does it it won't plant.
I’m not sure but if you are spinning them by hand and seed is coming out I would think your problem is not the meters themselves but rather something in the planter drive or transmission. I believe there is a sprocket from the drive chain to the slip clutch that has a roll pin in it that sometimes breaks which doesn’t allow the transmission to turn correctly. You may check that out.
Can you keep the videos up? I'll stay subbed to see your knowledge, and hopefully you grow big enough to retire!!
Thank you and we will keep them coming!
Good farm man. I’m starting a little produce farm in SC. I would like to see more man.
We've got a ton of videos coming. Thanks for watching and good luck with your farm!
I really enjoyed your videos. Keep up the good work. Don't get discouraged with the amount of views. You have good content and very good presentation. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Good Luck
Thank you! I greatly appreciate it. I have a bunch of content to edit. We got into harvest season and I got way behind lol Glad you like our videos!
put my first corn in black plastic warms soil keeps dry. plant with stand and plant stick. Its slow but it works.
We’ve been looking into a planter that plants sweet corn and lays plastic over it at the same time. Unfortunately they cost a lot of money but we hope to have one someday
Did you buy those pumpkin units or make them yourself?
We actually bought them from a precision planting ag dealer. We used modified old finger pick up meters in the past but the precision planting meters do a much but job with plant spacing. If you watched till the end of the video, I took the meters apart to show the difference in the precision ag meter versus an older finger pick up meter. We are very happy with them.
Does singulation/ consistency stay true with a variety of seed sizes?
@@eligerry3097 For the most part yes. You will have some skips and doubles with really small seed but for the most part we are very happy with them and would not go back to using the ones we made ourselves. For the money they are hard to beat especially if your using a ground driven planter.
Sounds good thanks for you’re help!
@@eligerry3097 Anytime! Glad we could help!
hello what size are the discs of the seeder for the green bean
They are actually seed cups. This planter does not use disc. I got the seed cups from Sloan Express to fit a John Deere 7000 planter.
Why not use a roller crimper to terminate your cover crop? Keep a thatch over your soil to keep weeds down and water from evaporating?
The short answer is we don’t have a crimper but we do roll the cover crop down after it dies down.
