Dude this channel rocks!
i love what you have so far!
nice! sounds excellent! liked and subbed! more!
Make a lucky Luciano type beat
So dope I've been trying to figure out how to do this for years lol. Thank you!
Awesome Tip! TY!
Lyrics are dope bro
Good mic for male vocals
Thanks man
Hey no problem, the only thing is since this version of Cubase there have been many more additions and easier way to do things that I’ll have to make an updated video and refer to other people’s videos that can explain stuff better than I can lol
So. I have a lot of instruments in my template. I have many different string libraries. I have them all sending to a group track. This works fine, things sound great. When I want to print, I can't choose the output of the group track. Any help with this? Pro tools has been a treat compared to Cubase so far.
Yeah I need to make some updated videos to my Cubase stuff lol. Sorry that this one hasn’t been helpful, plus these videos was closer to the earlier part of my career as an audio engineer. Lol I’ll see what tips and tricks I can come up with to replace these old videos. Lol
good stuff man I dug it your mixing had definitely gotten really good and i dig the arrangement
good video
no Cheesy Poof crumbs? Just breaking balls, nice review
You can do that offline, don't need to bounce to audio in real-time. Use the audio export feature, export to track.
It was still cool to see this guy's vid but your comment was exactly what I needed to know. Thank you.
Yes indeed, i went about it a very hard way and of course this video was 5 years ago so it was relatively early on in knowing as much about Cubase as I do now. I’ll try to update my videos with new stuff. I’m just trying to relearn how to make RUclips videos with screen capturing lol
But yeah, definitely thanks for the help :)
This would be good for recording acoustic drums right? So I should just be able to connect my mics to this interface, and then plug the usb out into my mac, and record 8 tracks individually into logic pro? Im just double checking because I'm new to recording anything and I don't want to buy it without knowing 100% that I record 8 tracks individually out of the USB.
it will work fine! Make sure you buy the right microphones to record drums, because regular vocal microphones will sound like crap
I use mine for drums all the time: Channels 1-2: Stereo overheads; 3 & 4: kik; 5 & 6 snare; 7: hat; 8 - 10: Toms. 11-16: whatever else you want. (I use ADAT to attach another 8 pres).
As a novice this might bring roars of laughter but can you directly connect a Marshall amp and guitar to my StudioLive 64S mixer?
I'm not going to criticize you or laugh at you, that would be 1) Disrespectful and 2) It does nothing to further conversation and learning for you. Anyway, onto the topic. You "Can" but I guarantee you're not going to want to. You're going to need a load box to counterbalance the signal of the amp to simulate a load of a guitar cab for the amp, then you need a direct box to plug into your mixer. Now I don't have the studio live, but if it has a Hi-Z or instrument option for any of the preamp, you can use that mode on the preamp as your direct box, but if there's no option for that, you NEED to get a Direct Box. Look up like SpectreSound Studio with Glenn Fricker, he records rock and metal and he would know so much more about any of that than I do. Also, look up channels like Produce Like a Pro, Pensado's Place, Joe Gilder from Home Studio Corner. There are all sorts of high-end music related RUclips channels. Much more experienced than I. I'm still a novice myself. I've only ever recorded a drum kit once in my life and that was as an assistant to an engineer that was local. I'm hoping to get to record some drummers soon.
Usually you need a load box if you are going to do that. Especially if it is a tube amp.
There's a correction I have to make when I said Rhode M9 I meant M5, the stereo pair of condenser mics, but I'm using only one.
what is the song used in this demo!? i can't get enough and keep coming back to this video just to listen to it. beautiful melody and harmony.
this is lovely / it's all you need these days!!! keep going mate
nice one mate cheers good insight
Nice clean rig
nice little small setup Alex, Been a long time watcher i'm glad to see your getting back into it!
I'm glad to hear that, you're the first person to ever say that!
To get the most of the drive and saturation stage you have to max out the input and completely lower the output. Now let me explain...Max input +Lower output = moderate saturation (harmonics). Completely low input + Max output = low level saturation. The saturation stage depends on the input you put in it. Example ...the recorded audio level of the track. Im guessing its optimal level have to be around -12db for the drive knob works perfectly. The output knob compensates for the input so the audio doesn't clip.
Would be useful if the output and input were linked...
Dude thank you for the interview! We had a bunch of fun doing it. Hope to see ya soon, man!
Haha great piece on the Gutter Nerds. I swear that half of the d*ck jokes are my fault! 😜😘
The convention was great :) Great interviews as well.
i am your first viewer of this vlog #Alex 😍
do you know why the interface is just black I can't see the knob or anything can you help me fix this problem???!!!
+jimmy 13 it could be anything causing it, really... anything from what DAW you’re running, to whether any software is cracked or not, to if the program is installed correctly, if you have your DAW setup to look into the location where the plugin is installed, to if anything about the app or your DAW is corrupted. If you’re running on a mechanical HDD one thing I’d recommend is doing a defragmentation. If you are on an SSD this is unnecessary. Make sure you have enough horsepower on your computer to run the software. CPU and RAM make a hell of a difference in how or whether a piece of software runs. Do ALL of your updates, unless you’re in the middle of a critical and time sensitive project, then hold off because when you update software in the middle of critical projects, things tend to break and break hard... but if you have the time available and can actually afford a malfunction and work through it if necessary, then make sure all your software is up to date, your plugins, your DAW, your OS... even your anti virus and firewall software. Also do a malware scan. Use Avast antivirus and Malwarebytes to take care of a lot of unwanted and harmful stuff on your computer. Keeping a healthy work environment is important, including the digital work environment. Also, in the process of system clean up, it doesn’t hurt to get a can of compressed air and dust out the inside of your computer, overheating is the death of every electronic component ever made. But yea for me to be able to tell you why your plugin isn’t coming up correctly it could be any number of things. Although one thing I’ve done before is if a plugin isn’t pulling up the first time, try dragging that instance to a different insert slot on the channel you’re working on.
thank you studio 7-22 i will try the things you say and hope for the best and probably is my pc, is old but i will give it a shot and hope for the best thanks...
Also, you're miles ahead of most, Alex. You're not a noob when it comes to fundamental knowledge. Your knowledge of compressors truly amazed me.
Great review, brother!
peace from Bouclela ^

BLB Muzic Ear Pleasure Thanks bro!!
its more like pultec in the lows and API 550 in the mids
Thank you Studio 7-22. I have a new Focusrite 2i4 and am trying to figure out the plugins that came free with it. This is a very useful video! Thanks again and happy recording!
Where can i insert the VUmeter, i can't find it in the effects..in what section can i find it? for example is it on the dynamic section effects, in the EQ section effects?? Thanks!
The VUMeter is a separate plugin I had to download. Just look up Sleepy Time Records on google and look for the Stereo Tools plugin. Note this is a Windows only plug so an alternative, which is only like $10, is the klanghelm by meter.
I'm sure you can find a freeware alternative for Mac if that's what you're running, but just about any VUMeter will work. To test if it's accurate load up the VUMeter you chose and set it to the calibration level you want, then open up a signal generator set it sine wave and match the signal on the generator to the calibration on the meter, so say I have my by meter set to -16 I would have the signal generator push out a -16db signal and the VUMeter should be hitting 0
+Studio 7-22 Thanks!
Cool man! Keep up the good work.
I think I might go back and revisit this song and re-upload this video. Touch up the mixing a bit, maybe do a little more to see what I can do with it. I'll just remake the video with better quality Audio, I'll also try to make it more brief.
Shout out to Wylie and Carl Allstott who co-authored this song. Thank you Alex for the awesome in depth tutorial.
you should subscribe to me
Very cool!
All you should have to do is after you've extracted it to your VST folder is rescan your folder through Live.
Can anyone help me? I use Ableton Live and I believe I've done everything correctly (downloaded and extracted into my VST folder) and my software isn't recognizing it. Is this plugin even compatible with Ableton or am I doing something wrong? Please help!
I noticed alot of pops and clicks in the recording i think waves has a free recording program that can record the inputs and outputs of your daw and interface and it uses almost no cpu. that's what I use to record and it can be synced by FPS.
