We make a brief visit back to Arizona and the Sonoran Desert for the beginning of the new year. Making time to rest and refresh, our walks in the desert landscape of saguaro cacti and blue skies provide time for introspection and planning. We hiked up Tumamoc Hill in Tucson and walked some labyrinths in Green Valley. We had a number of bird sightings this month, including the Great Blue Heron and the Vermillion Flycatcher at Canoa Ranch in Southern Arizona, and the Barred Owl upon our return to the Catskills. The symbolism of each bird gives us a spirit of determination and good luck for the year ahead.
