Dr. Oliver Reardon-Smith (CTP PAS): Classically simulating quantum computations
Dr. Oliver Reardon-Smith (Center for Theoretical Physics, PAS).
Classically simulating quantum computations.
In addition to being of obvious practical use, classical simulations of quantum computations have interesting theoretical implications. Intuitively those computations which may be efficiently simulated by a classical computer are somehow "less quantum" while those which are prohibitively expensive to simulate classically are "more quantum." I will discuss some ways of quantifying non-classicality in the form of "magic" resources required to implement them. Recent work (arXiv:2307.12912, arXiv:2307.12654 and arXiv:2307.12702) has extended results known from the Clifford/stabilizer sub...

P. Kurzynski (Adam Mickiewicz University): Detection of Quantum Chaos with Quantum Hamming Distance

Paweł Kurzynski (Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, Poland). Detection of Quantum Chaos with Quantum Hamming Distance. The unitarity of quantum evolutions implies that the overlap between two initial states does not change in time. This property is commonly believed to explain the lack of state sensitivity in quantum theory, a feature that is prevailing in classical chaotic systems. However, a...

Pierwszy pomiar prędkości rotacji czarnej dziury przy pomocy „chyboczącej” materii gwiezdnej

Dr Przemysław Mróz (Astronomical Observatory, University of Warsaw). Toward the mass function of black holes with modern observations of microlensing events. Gravitational-wave detectors - LIGO, Virgo, and KAGRA - have revealed a population of massive black holes whose origin is still a subject of vigorous debate. Understanding the population of black holes in the Milky Way is, therefore, key t...

Prof. Jerzy Kijowski (Center for Theoretical Physics PAS). How to measure energy carried by gravitational waves: a pedestrian version of the Trautman-Bondi energy. Description of the field evolution is presented in terms of "radiation data" instead of "Cauchy data". The approach presented here is applicable to any radiating system. The Trautman-Bondi energy is then interpreted as the actual Ham...

Dr. M. Hamed Mohammady (RCQI, IP SAS, Bratislava). Quantum measurements constrained by the third law of thermodynamics. While quantum theory dictates that the act of measurement must perturb at least some property of the measured system, it does allow for measurements that are minimally invasive. Indeed, the existence of such measurements plays a crucial role in several foundational questions p...

Mgr Konrad Schlichtholz (International Centre for Theory of Quantum Technologies, University of Gdansk). Mesoscopic description of entanglement of bosonic fields and its open evolution.
