Heritage Audio Baby RAM Through an Apollo X6
Просмотров 6 тыс.2 года назад
When I was considering the baby ram, I had a concern that there might be popping noises since my Universal Audio Apollo X6 supplies DC voltage down the monitor outputs. It doesn’t pop at all while using any of the controls. Sounds great too.
Cleaning a Guitar Fretboard and Applying Oil
Просмотров 3 тыс.4 года назад
After 66 years of most likely never having a cleaning, I decided my Gibson ES-125 needed its fretboard scrubbed. In this quick video, I show how to remove the grime on your guitar’s fretboard with Murphy’s wood oil soap and 0000 Steel Wool and apply fretboard oil.

Do you still got the baby ram? can you please say me the exact height in mm of the little front plate part with the 2 black little screws? cant find any informations, need to know that Height because im not sure if it will fit well in my custom build deskrack. If you still got the unit and can help me, please also check how much it would exactly be wihtout the curved design. Would be great.
Nice job! Did you drill out the countersunk recess for the string ferrule lip or was it already present on the body when it reached you? If so, what technique do you prefer? Thanks!
@@in2mu5ic the ferrule holes were already drilled before I got the body from BloomDoom guitars. I highly recommend them.
Off to Harbor Freight...
Great video and nice idea! What size drill bit do you need for the hole?
Thank you!
Hi! Do you recommend it?
Poppin cuz they cpu buffer and playback software ain't hitting on shyt... Heritage audio don't even play that. They strictly by the book. There will never be pops or clicks. Get yal CPU strength up. Good vid bro. Totally unnecessary, but well received.
Excellent! What a simple solution. You just saved me some money!
抜けなくて困っていました。ありがとうございます😂 Thank you so much.
Does your baby ram have a "Stop" when you reach the lowest level so that it doesn't continue to max volume? I just got one of these and mine just continues from lowest to max volume.
Does this unit color your sound in any way? Also, I noticed you have the volume on the UAD at 100% if Im not mistaken.. Is that the usual way of using monitor controllers?
I haven’t noticed it coloring my monitors. However, I went straight from my SPL monitor controller to the Heritage. I also use Sonarworks while mixing, so I purposely color my signal. As for my output monitor level on my Apollo…yes, you always want it all the way up. The volume knob on the heritage is an attenuator, so if you don’t have the Apollo all the way up, you lose fidelity. Imagine having your Apollo on at 10 o’clock. That becomes your maximum ceiling on your monitor controller. So to listen at like 70db, you have to turn the knob up practically all the way on the heritage. It’s a similar concept to gain staging.
@@brandonisaak That's really helpful! Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks
You are lucky. I just purchased one and mine is noticeably noisy when I turn the volume up and down. In balanced mode sometimes when I'm turning the volume down the signal flashes back up to full volume in 1 or both speakers. It also does this when I tap on the volume knob. I'm returning mine. Sorry.
thanks. handling my first coles like a newborn
Song in the background?
Theologians by Wilco.
Mmm k so the main volume pot doesn't make click sounds as I seen in earlier reviews?
I just purchased on and it does make annoying click sounds when turning it up or down (but not in the signal)
Good tips! I use the wool and then apply the lemon oil. I thought that combo worked well. I don't use the wool with an oil, though. Is that necessary?
It's crazy how they don't explain this on their website, manuals, anywhere. Haha. Thanks Brandon!
Q : did you conectes it to the main monitor output or the 3.4-5,6 outputs? As I am aware, main outputs don’t send full signal out and it’s limited by the main output know ( on the Apollo twin x at least , or I have not figured how to do it) . This would really help as I am searching to get a monitor controller for couple of monitors to be connected. Thanks for the video 👌🏼
I have it connected to the main monitor output.
@@brandonisaak but did you had to maximize the knob to get the full signal? Like you get from exiting output 3-4 ?
@@Capons_Place yes. I had the monitor out level from the Apollo on at 100%.
@@brandonisaak thank you so much!
Live savior! Thank you!!!
Beyond glad you made this video!! Ordering mine now. I have a BLA modded Apollo X6.
Quick question. Would this controller be an easy fix for me to ad 2 more monitors to my maxed out Apollo cascade ? I’m not limited by outs but more so limited by the software. I care more about quick/seamless monitor transition. The only way to switch between 4 sets of monitors while using a twin as the controller is if I change the master Apollo which obviously disrupts the whole I/o matrix. Ex. I have 3 sets of speakers running to the Apollo 8 & 1 set running to a 16. Would adding this controller allow me to bring over that 4th monitor set so I don’t have to mess with the cascade order? Thanks
First to comment lol...but thanks for this video!!!
Ha! It looks like I’m not alone. Thank you for making this video. I started to disconnect my mic for the first time and thought “what the heck?”
So simple… I was getting nervous cause couldn’t put it in the original box… thank you!
with the older BBC ones, you have to unscrew to release the cable.
Thank You!! I struggled and gave up until I saw this simple tip.
THANK-YOU!
Embarrassed by how helpful this video was...
Thanks so much. I was really struggling! 👍🏼
Thanks for that! such a simple thing, but I just could not get the thing out without your video help. I didn't think that there would be a video on how to do such a niche thing. yay!
So cool brandon
Does it still works properly!?
Hi Brandon, i just noticed the same problem on mine! Did you end up getting this fixed or find a solution? Thanks! Sebb
Some solution after 2 years
same here. I cannot believe this is normal
Same here
it is normal. the 'distance' travel from F1.8 to F8 or smaller will create longer louder 'grinding' sound compared to a kitlens F3.5 to F8. on DSLR, it only moves when the shutter is release, and due to the loud mirror slap and shutter release at the same time, you just cant hear them... Micheal: the aperture will turn wide open during focusing (all lens are like that in DSLR/T mirrorless) because it will need all the light it can get for focusing. then close back when focus lock and u will notice the lcd sudden change to full of noise due to the bump in light gain for liveview.
I have the 35 and sounds the same as yours mate. I worried about it too but it's normal.
saw this from Dpreview, ill compare with mine but the SEL35 should be a bit noisier with bigger aperture, different blades, but maybe not as much. I wasn't aware the aperture changed from wide open to closed?! Thought once you set aperture it stays...yet when you press shutter button it changes...hm
That is so disconcerting!
awesome!
;)
That's nice :-) Greetings from Strasbourg ;-)
