For cheap material invest in hem or seam tape or a stabilizer fabric or tissue paper. You can also get heat set tape or stabilizer. It will strengthen your fabric so les tearing. Also check your thread tension on your machine. To tight and it it puts stress on your thread which causes repeat holes in same place to loose and threads tangle and create larger holes. You can also make buckles out of heavy gage jump rings or wires. Also old bra hooks if in good condition can be recycled for fasteners as well as used sew on snaps. All can be sourced in Walmart or dollar stores for pennies on the dollar. A $3 yard of stabilizer will last for bunch of barbie products same for hem or seam tape.
