I think alot of supposed "ageist myths" stem from the fact that older workers feel they have "earned" a position of privaledge which allows them to cut corners, loaf, or do work that doesn't meet a minimal viable standard but often feel beyond reproach and apoplectic at anyone younger then them offering criticism or doing better work which has the net effect of dragging the culture/country down over time. I think this has alot overlap with corporate culture in general and alot of lefty/feminist ideals are bandied about while the bar of quality falls lower, meanwhile the executives silently suck everyone dry.
