A very moving and compassionate documentary. I didn't know about her, but glad I do now. A beautiful and intelligent woman, caught up in the chaos of 1950's Hollywood. I feel very sad that she was unable to overcome her personal demons, she must have been in so much pain. I wish her peace and love. ❤

She was not awarded looks you know they were a gift ! She didn't earn them . She was alcoholic and sverything thats self destructively attached to that , addicts live in chaos .they create it . She would have had to become soberto realise how self destructive she was.

It certainly appears that her beauty and brains did not serve her well plus she unfortunately didn’t possess the fortitude to push beyond the sad and heartbreaking unacceptance of her father. The sad poor life is that we can all become victims to our own surmise I am one as well that could’ve destroyed. My life had I not taken him to what I was doing. We should never look down on others because we are one blink of lie from our own self-destruction. I employee all of us forgive ourselves rise up.

Have you read her autobiography called I am Not Ashamed? I read it decades ago. I ask myself, was Barbara Payton a victim of her own hedonism, or was she a victim of the "Hollywood Sausage Machine?" which was a network of producers and studio moguls who exploited her, then threw her out like yesterday's spoiled meat?

Excellent work, you tell her story with honesty and true, but still respectful and maintaining dignity of her, and her life's story, her incredible life and extremely difficult challenges and still her desire to continue was unbearable.

Is it possible there was more going on with Barbra than narcissism? My ex sis in law is bipolar & her life was a lot like this just a mess. She was beautiful a great loving mom although she lost her children to their father because after a bad post partum depression the bipolar kicked in. She has had 3 husbands my bro #3 thank God they didn’t have children. She was so good with my children ,that my kids were really hurt loosing their aunt. Of course we hid all the crazy antics she did when she drank. She was vindictive when my brother divorced her , she hurt those my brother loved. She went to my home and took any of my clothes that fit her ,as I often loaned her clothes to interview for in. Then one night a few days later, she went out & put sugar in our two cars gas tanks .
