    I've only marched a few moments of this video but the problem I see is, do you really think that the person who has the stick in their hand is not going to take their other hand and punch that person in the face just because you stepped inside and struck their shoulder. Or maybe struck their face... Now you just made a comment about 324 days a week, but how many years.. Moving on, no one is ever going to just stand there and thrust at you in a traditional way... OK, if someone is going to stab you. They're going to use a knife. They're not going to use a stick. You clearly just said she grabbed part of the stick and part of her hand If you try to do that with a knife, her hand would be completely cut open. You never grab at a knife. I'm just trying to understand what you're teaching.... OK, that's never gonna work. I keep watching the video piece by piece now. You're having her hand turn the knife and she's grabbing her vest. I'll say it again. Do you think in the street? The other person, what the weapon is just gonna stand there and let you do this to them. I am afraid for your students because if you really believe that these techniques are going to work on the street. You working in a controlled environment? What you're showing them only works in a controlled environment. Show me a technique where someone is shoved against the wall with a knife on their neck. Make it realistic. These techniques are not realistic. And now you're going to the inside to defend. I have never seen techniques in my life like this. No, that's a lie. I've seen plenty of techniques like this if you're going to teach. Someone had a defend against a edged weapon. You don't use a long stick, also, forget the traditional stances they don't work. She stepped inside grab the other young lady's hands and you really think in a street situation that the person who is doing the attacking is not going to take their other hand and punch you repeatedly if your school is just giving people a good workout that's fantastic, but if you really believe. That these things are going to work on the street. They're not if you want to teach someone weapons self-defense. Look at the system in here's a list. Kali.. Silat ..Arnis Now, with all of this being said I am not trying to be disrespectful to you or to your system. I'm pointing out facts, and if you honestly believe that this is going to work on the street you're misinformed, and you were misinformed by the person who taught you. And now to all of those who are going to see this comment, here is the best way I can explain what I'm trying to say. You don't go to a plumber to teach you how to bake a cake. Think about that strange analogy, but think about it...

    3:00 not trying to be bully here, I dont know if this hand stance (lady in left) is typical to hapkido but fighting wise it doesnt make any sense. Has any one seen any MMA fighter putting hands like that when fighting. It not a good guard, its extrely slow to throw a punch in that position, so its like a no-mans land hand position. Just like is when tennis player is in no-mans land he is very easy to beat. Also the lady in left stance is leaning backward, thats not a stance, thats like standing before a ditch ready to be shot. Never lean back in your stance, never! The lady in right center of balance is at the middle. Also her hands are in better position, right hand covering the face and left hand more ready for a jab althou thats neither an ideal position but better. I hope they dont teach in Hapkido to put your hands like that if you got into an actual fight. And someone told that lady to keep her center of balance n the middle or slightly forward. Not trying to be an asshole, just try to teach but and if Im wrong at something please correct me.

      didn't see this comment but i paused it exactly at that time and spent 5 minutes just thinking about it too, i used to box and when you hold your hands up you usually tuck them in tight so you're covering the body more and your chin. i also noticed the girls back foot was like an inch off the ground which in that position isn't good, it should be closer to being flat to store the potential if she decides to move forward or throw a punch and because her foot was an inch from the ground she had to lean back from her hips which is gonna totally screw her balance, and her hands also leaves her entire body open for a hit. not sure how much importance they put on hands and if she is new then it would be an easy mistake to make if she's been working more on takedowns and kicks and what have you but yeah this should be corrected ASAP before she builds bad habits. If the girl reads this comment and wants some help let me know. try and keep your legs slightly bent and feel your weight shift from one leg to the other and see how that feels and notice how your weight gives you potential energy as you move it around. push off your toes forward and notice how your toe directed your weight to move forward, and so your body moves forwards. this is the energy you will be directing around to throw punches, kicks and can even be used defensively. your weight is on your toes and so your toes can move your weight, but when you are stood without bent knees then your weight is on your knees and you cannot push it from there, that's most likely why you leaned backwards because you are using your hips to manipulate your upper part of your body to generate some power but it will never be as strong.

    • @bogse
      @bogse 5 месяцев назад

      @@bereruter0 Yea the balance and the raising back leg is just terrible to watch. It make her impossible to move fast forward or backward or sideways, everything is ruined if your stance is not good,. Bent knees power in the sole of the feet whole time a small tension or tiny jumping ready to move where ever you have to move in milliseconds to avoid punches or to attack. They seem to do good what this video is about so Im afraid they are not beginners but pretty advanced and that makes this scary if this is her actual fighting stance. Its also possible that there is something physiologically wrong/broken etc in her body and thats why her stance is so bad, but that doesnt explain those bad hand positions. My background is in judo, krav maga and karate and judo and especially karate teach me that stance is everything, feet power/speed is everything, understanding distance and how to close it as fast that the opponent doesnst understand what hit him. And that is only possible if your stance is as perfect as it can be from sole of your feet to the top of your head.

    • @bereruter0
      @bereruter0 5 месяцев назад

      @@bogse couldn't agree more, your stance is where everything comes from, as you push off your toes then your weight is transfered to kinetic energy to either move or throw a punch but yeah i don't think these guys are amateurs either since they're doing a demo video but maybe this is a small gym with less seasoned coaches or something and just wants to get some videos for his channel i'm guessing.

    In the last twenty years it seems these martial arts that are not good put jujitsu and/or MMA in their 'system' title or descriptions to try to gain credibility. The lesson here, just take jujitsu and/or MMA training. I trained Hapkido and kick-boxing in university and now train BJJ and kick-boxing Hapkido is fun but just not a system to rely on or worth spending year to learn. All the Hapkido instructors for some reason look like they came out of a 1987 issue of Karate Magazine.

    I love it when people who practice b.s. martial arts start making excuses. Jujitsu is the best in developining real skills useful for fighting. This is garbage. This is taking concepts and techniques from a different art to try to make your own b.s. more credible. These techniques are just plain stupid. Why? Because you can't grab a violent attackers blade with one hand. The first defense demonstrated didn't involve any body weight placed on the attackers weapon hand. You are actually teaching these people they can grab a knife attack with one hand. This is why traditional martial arts are losing credibility. I hate to tell you this too but if you get a TWO ON ONE CONTROL on the knife the best place to retain control is on the ground. Of course, being unarmed and choosing to fight a knife is just dumb anyway. When you get any kind of two on one control what is required is the application of downward pressure and body weight to prevent them from regaining control. Your x block has neither of these components. You are teaching these girls to get killed.

      This BJJ guy has no idea about self defense or knife fighting. Go to the ground????. Either way, there is a bit of a point. These techniques are not very realistic. The first thing you should test and adapt into your training, is the fact that with a thrusting or shanking style knife attack, you need to accomadate the fact that there will be an immediate withdrawl and another incoming thrust, and on, and on, and on. Be open to constructive advice, forget the haters.

    The problem is that people don’t let their arms remain out there, fighting is dynamic. As soon as those ladies posed in some kind of fighting stance I saw they are beginners, who probably never even tried sparring. And as beginners they would develop much better being taught the basics of how to punch, block and slip instead of starting with some kind of trickery

      Appreciate your feed back good or bad. But perhaps your being critical thinking that these 2 Black belts dont know how to spar or fight. Keep an open mind and realize that this is curriculum and we are breaking it down for a green belt junior and adult. Once they understand the basic movement everything changes and speed, power etc. all improve. We are not just putting videos out to impress everyone with our skill and prowess we are tring to teach a very basic skill once that has been achieved they can make it their own and tear it up. But listen I get what your saying and as I said before we truley do appreciate your feedback. We all need to strap on the white belt when learning something new 🙏

    • @christianbagge609
      @christianbagge609 5 месяцев назад

      @@dananderson4487 you seem very polite so I will try not to sound arrogant. But seriously, have they ever tried the moves while someone else really tries to resist or punch them in the face or kick them. Because the body posture with locked out knees tells me that that they are not used to receive low kicks nor themselves learnt how to generate power in their punches. The high guards look very awkward and the balance seems to be very backwards leaning. The high chins tells me they are not used to receive punches to the face. A black belt doesn’t tell me much if I don’t know what it takes to get one. Hopefully a black belt includes many hours of fighting/sparring and not just memorising kata-style techniques. Training only techniques without really testing them on someone else who tries to hurt you the same time is not useful in my mind. I let my beginners sparr from their first class to start to give them a little insight in what fighting is.
