Great demo great plane was wondering what gear you have? Amps or pedals along with the guitar? I'm looking at buying one soon thank you in advance
Hi! I'm the guy in the video! I no longer work for Uptown, but in this video I'm using my 12" Fender Princeton Limited and a Benson Preamp for all the tones. I have a wide array of gear, but I tried to keep it pretty simple for the demos. As for mics and the such, I was using a Shure SM57 for close mic-ing and I blend with the Audix 212b condenser for a little bit of room ambience. They go into a Roland Studio Capture and then into Cakewalk Producer. I didn't add anything in post other than volume leveling.
I have an opportunity to buy a used one of these guitars at a pretty decent price. After watching this video, I think I'll do it.
just bought the same guitar the other day and I'm loving it! Sounds great.
Nice bass work there!
Epicccc
Nice work guys
Mcacartney! Thanks for the great demo
Outstanding tones
Great night with Tim and Kathy
Can you comment on the tone volume controls, I just got mine in the mail today. Seems the 2 pickups are wired different than a Les Paul set up
Hi ! Great playing ! Can you tell something about the neck as well ? What profile ? Thick ? Slim ? Thx !
Another good guitar is Lakewood M32 custom
Aesthetically it is a nice pc of art. A beautiful gift from Andy Power’s craftsmanship. Simply great!!!
Small body and nice playability
Best guitar I ever played
Yea take your prison bullshit some where else
2:49 Yeah this is the Cello voice of the Mandolin family, & it's modeled after their AR804 Archtop Guitar. In fact alot of old Smashed up Archtop Guitars were converted into Mandocellos when they've reassembled them.
Thomastik makes Precision strings you can use on these instruments which are Flatwound strings designed like Orchestral Bowed stringed instrument strings, & they'll save the frets from scratches.
The MDC804 Mandocello is modeled after the AR804 Archtop Guitar.

That is killer! I have a butterscotch offset tele coming in next week. Wish they were still available in that natural/walnut finish. But this is almost exactly what I want to do with mine. I saw in another reply you weren't sure were he custom ordered the pickguard. I gotta find one! Thanks for taking a look at this and sharing. Nice to be able to visualize the mods I want to do.
Absolutely! He might've gotten it from WD music, but I'm not sure. While I do miss the walnut color, I'm glad they're expanding the color palette of these models.
I bought a blonde one, upgraded the rear saddle to a roller bridge and 2 roller trees, love this guitar.
That's a great way of doing it!
Can you toggle all 5 positions (getting the out of phase 2 and 4 positions) like a Strat on this?
On this particular mod, yes! You could get the "regular" 5 way switching like on a Stratocaster.
@@UptownMusicKeizer awesome! Thanks for the rapid informative response. I love the shape of this guitar but I want to plug in three of those Cory Wong clean machine strat pickups
@@dgerch That's a great idea! We love Cory Wong! The guitar is already routed for 3 pickups from the factory, so you shouldn't have much issue on that front.
good review
Hi Mike, can AC722CE DF par to Taylor 714ce in your opinion? Of course in the respect of sound.
They're pretty close in terms of sound. Taylors can be a tiny bit brighter and I think Taylor's always play a bit better because of their neck system. You can get pretty close with the Eastman. The Eastman will be a bit darker, but overall pretty similar in terms of sound to the Taylor. I really like the arm rest on the 722ce though! I think the extra soundhole is also super helpful. Bang for the buck, the Eastman is pretty hard to beat. Both are great options though!
Cat entrance @ 3:49 lol sneaks in...
How does this compare to 314 ? For comfort ??
A little different! Comfort wise, this is pretty on par with any dreadnaught (Older Taylor 810s) or a J-45 Gibson. This body is a little bigger than the 314. You do get a bigger sound from the bigger body though! If you have trouble with bigger guitars, I would steer towards the 314!
@@UptownMusicKeizer that’s what I thought thanks for taking time to answer
@@estimatora1419 Absolutely! Good luck on your hunt!
Was this with flats or round wounds? Sounds great!
Round wounds! Although, flats would sound great too!
Just ordered 1 of these today from Sweetwater in Candy Apple Red.
You won't be disappointed!
This is how demos should be, you got such a variety of sounds from this amazing guitar. I got one recently but butterscotch blonde that replaced the one you have for 2021. It’s so easy to play, very nice quality and good pricing
Thanks for the kind words! We try to make the demos as approachable for all musicians! We're looking forward to our new version of the Paranormals. We're super happy that they're here to stay!
Lighter than a strato?
Drinking game: Take a shot every time the guy says there! 😂😂😂
This guitar is a great bargain. It's like at 335 but lighter and with a 25 and a half inch scale. I think you could get one used in decent shape for about 250 bucks. I would probably put new pickups in it but everything else looks real good and it sounds real good. I enjoyed your video (no loud screeching distortion and cavern like reverb so you can't even hear what the guitar sounds like) Keep up the good work.
You're awesome dude, god bless you. I couldn't help but watch the whole thing out of respect. Incredible feel, guitars love you!
Telecaster?
Great stuff!
I think this video is very well done. I bought one based in part on this video and I am not regretting it. Thanks for the tip on th S.D. Antiquity pickups.
Thank you so much for the kind words! We really appreciate it! Any pickup swapping would be great, but that's what we'd recommend! A lot of guys here say a JB and 59 combo wouldn't be bad either!
great demo!
Great demo. Super tempted but the shiny fingerboard is a massive turn off, feels so sticky
Thanks for the kind words! And you're not the only one. You could strip the finish on it, or swap it for a new neck entirely, but that seems more of a round about way of doing it.
@@UptownMusicKeizer I'll look into that thanks. Hows the intonation and tuning stability. I love the look of a classic 3 saddle bridge but heard bad things about intonating them as well as it being a cheap guitar
Thanks for the video. I've got one on the way and I'm doing the thing where you watch every possible video on a new guitar. Good playing.
Absolutely! I'm sure we all are guilty of that!
Hey! Me too!
Im thinking of getting this guitar but can you play rock or metal on it?
I feel like you could play just about any genre on it! Rock absolutely! The only concern we might have is that it might be a bit prone to feedback with high volumes and a ton of gain, but that might be what you're looking for. I'd say if you can try one, go for it!
How much does it weight please?
I don't have one in the shop at the moment, but they are roughly around 7lbs. Not too heavy!
@@UptownMusicKeizer Thanks a lot! Looks like the perfect platform to modify. Plan on installing a Mastery Jazzmaster trem on it when I get one. Looks stunning too :)
@@Gw67891 Great idea! Premier guitar had an article awhile back that was exactly this!
Hi Mike, thank you for posting vid ! I just ordered that guitar 10 minutes ago, can't wait. Could you please tell me what the tremelo set up is on your customers' paranormal tele ?
The next video highlights our customers! He put a Bigsby unit on his. ruclips.net/video/DQ4dak_9ba4/видео.html
how do you like the offset tele??
The guy demo-ing the guitar (Mike, I assume) has the compassion, patience, and wisdom of the Buddha. I only wish there were guitar salesman in my city who were this cool. Great playing, great demo, super-cool human being...which is what really counts. Cheers from California.
Nice playing. That guitar sounds good. Has some of that 335 tone.
What a great review! Love your positivity!
Thanks for the kind words!
I'm not into the relic thing but the MD 814 has lot of mojo. I had one and returned it because I couldn't understand why they put fake ultra white, pearl buttons on a relic instrument. They could have used ebony, ivoroid, or whatever fits with the antique vibe... but white, plastic pearl... I mailed them, they told me they look into it.
Great demo, Love the guitar so much I own one
Would the neck pickup route accommodate a firebird or mini-humbucker pickup? Is it a custom pickguard or did you cut an existing pickguard? Issues with the 500k pots and the single coils? Thinking of doing something similar, so very curious if this was relatively easy to pull off or if there were any significant roadblocks.
The neck route is for a standard humbucker, but if you got a specific pickguard or Humbucker to mini hum mounting ring, it should fit just fine. If you were doing a P90 or something to that effect, it would require more routing. The pickguard was custom ordered. I can't recall where from. There's no issues between the pickups and pots with 500k. Our customer said it was easy to do modifications, especially if you've modified a guitar before. The only hurdle was the Bigsby, since he noted that the finish and wood is pretty soft, so drilling precisely took some more effort to get right. Hope that helps!
Great review! Thanks! 👍
Thank you!
