This 1050 is new to me, and it needed quite a bit of work even with only 1,945 miles on the gauge.
The rear bearings were one of the last things it needed, and needless to say, the love-centric melodies that play in this video match how I feel for this Triple. :)
After replacing:
Both tires, battery, fork seals, front brake rotors, spark plugs; Rebuilding the front calipers, oil change and flush fluids;
A pretty loud humming noise became more and more present while riding, especially at about 80mph and above. A...

Sight Glass Replacement, Yamaha Virago XV750 1996

Most motorcycle hydraulic reservoir sight glass parts are the same 18mm diameter plastic viewing window encased in thin metal and installed over an oring. Definitely consider flushing new fluid through the whole system, not just the fluid in the res...

Carburetor Float Valve Leak Test, Harley Davidson Sportster XL883 2002 Motorcycle Repair
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.10 месяцев назад
When rebuilding or inspecting a carburetor, always do this check before final assembly! If your carburetor leaks from the overflow tube, the float valve may not be sealing properly. This test will easily and undeniably prove whether the float valve actually stops incoming fuel flow. Most often, a float valve leak is incredibly slow, taking hours or longer to overfill the carb. Do this test to m...

Rear Brake Full Service, Honda VFR750F 1995 Motorcycle Repair
Good build! I have always liked these. I had an 01 VFR, loved it. My neighbor has the 86 Magna 550..I might have to get the small one!
This is gold my friend. I have the same v65 🎉
Congrats! Nicely done !!!
Great video
Absolutely beautiful! The reveal was awesome. Congratulations on the success.I know the challenge it was for the undertaking to complete this project. I have two 1984s myself. I have slated to do the same thing to at least one of them. I'm finding parts to be a challenge though. I was wondering if you would be willing to share your sources.
The road test proves these are truly fast?! 😂
Would you consider selling it? I had a maroon 83 model too. Would love to have one again. BTW, great workmanship.
Just like the Lead Wing but sooooo easier, no spending 4 hours removing the excess plastic bits on draining the coolant. 😂
well done! I like the torque numbers!
This is very enjoyable to watch great job alex keep at it!!! 👍👏
The beginning rev up is 🔥
Video would have been better if you TALKED MORE and explained every step you were doing😢
Incredible! What a beauty, restored! Thank you for restoring this motorcycle.
looks like the quality higher than harley.. is that right?
uummm, well, hmm. Let's put it this way, Harleys have their own 'genre' of quality. It's almost like apples to oranges. 😆
Great video bro, I'll sub
I love this, all the stuff I didn't do - this video does not do justice to the amount of hidden work polishing, taking the time to clean those awkward corners, finish, finish, finish. I salute your modest display of so much effort. Bike looks great, now I have to do mine properly. :)
Right you are. lots of hours. and countless camera battery changes in the middle of shots. then there's the tb of film to get lost in!!! 😵💫🐲 The project was a pleasure to complete, including all the time spent crying about it. haha. Your salute brings me great honor 🎖
I just got mine running :) now I have to restore it too :) This is Awesome, nice job
Хотел в межсезонье тем же заняться, но зимой в неотапливаемом гараже не смог вытащить корпус воздушного фильтра, настолько задубела резина. Пришлось отложить до весны)
How much was this cat’s bill…..?
I love it….. your work that is …
aaaawwww!!!! thx! 🙂🙃🫠
Too bad you can’t John Holmes extend that asking arm assembly 2” ….!
Excellent travail 👍✌
"we play til I win".... I've heard that somewhere - awesome video
I love it except the wind heald !
I'm always to and fro about wind screens, but after hundreds of miles, I prefer them. 👩🔧
Where are you located ? I wish you were in florida, but from the test drive, you’re not…i have a 98 tourer from the box…I’m looking for a mechanic in south Florida…does anyone knows a good one ? Thanks👍🏼
@@imagehunter1 This is Colorado, I'm afraid I have no references in Florida. Good luck!!
This is actually my bike. I've owned it for about 14 yrs over which time it always had a few glitches to piss me off. Now I can fire it up and go for a ride anytime I please. I did all the paint, polishing and obtain the minor bits that make it what it is today. Alex did the motor work for which I am very pleased with. Love that classic style from the mid-70's.
When someone asks me what a V65 Magna is,I show them the commercial nothing else needs to be said. L.o.L.
Have you seen the 1983 commercial for this bike, coolest motorcycle commercial ever
I bought my 85 V65 new in 86 have 72.000 miles on it still ride it all the time, still almost show room condition, awesome job, love it.
@@SteveHuebner-o6z That's awesome! You knew this bike was cool before it was cool. I can't get over how smooth it feels, power delivery, cornering, it's pretty magical.
Have you seen the 1983 tv commercial for this bike now that is cool.
@@vintagemotorcyclerepair
I've got one of these which has been in bits over 4 years and now I am trying to put her back together so this is very useful to me to see how things go back together early days but these visuals are a great help cheers gonna save this one 👌👍
@@crumblymal8479 Nice!! I'd like to see it!! (no pressure) I hope it goes well!!! buildguild@uneducatedengineer.com
beautiful bike and cool scenery, thanks
Good job buddy.
@@tomconte1765 Thx!
I have the exact bike and don't wanna sell it runs great but I'm indecisive weather to keep it or sell it but I know I'm never going to own another one in its condition.........can you help me decide.....as I know if I do sell it it's going to be a major mistake...love your vid and will share
@@Alexgomez411 Once upon a time, a v65 Magna was ridden and loved and then given away. A heartbreaking mistake. Fast forward many, many years later, and the best condition v65 that could be found was this one. It was pretty rough, and it took all of this plus everything I didn't show in the videos, and some crying and whining to bring it to this level. So. 1) if you already have one, 2) if you don't Need to sell it, 3) and there's no real problem with it, Then, other than all the regular servicing it would probably love to get, I can't fathom a reason to get rid of it.
@@vintagemotorcyclerepair thank you for the advice mine does need the pain in the ass valve adjustment and maybe a few nick nacks but still a good runner I’ll keep it
@@vintagemotorcyclerepair I feel you, mine was a hope and a dream turned nightmare, then dream, the realisation I still need to restore it, but gonna put some miles on it and take it camping first :) All my effort went into getting 1 more V65 alive again in the UK, now time to enjoy and then restore - I think
I would be interested if you decide to sell it.
Pretty awesome 😎
amazing - great quality work, love the torque balloons, beautiful work young man!!!
@@xangoboy1 This is the comment I've been waiting for! Hahaha. Thank you sir. Please let this video pay respect to the great Honda Jim 😉
Nice restoration but did you install a better oil lines into the rear cylinder?? Common on the magnas the rear cylinder don’t get enough oil and you end up burning the cams
@@Mannix2023 That's something nice to know! I haven't heard of that one yet. When I adjusted the valves, all the valvetrain looked good.
@@vintagemotorcyclerepair yes but the oem oil lines are to restricted and oil pressure is not enough to get enough oil to the rear cylinders , there is a kit on e bat you can buy and install is a very easy installation but your magna will last longer
@@Mannix2023 That does sound like a good thing to do! I will look into that. Thanks for sharing!!!
Looks nice, well done. Is your victory ride in Colorado ?
Thank you! Yes, Colorful Colorado :)
Nice!!! I really liked the second half. Now I want another one.
@@corneliuspeters990 There is a new channel coming soon, it is all about the 2nd half stuff. 🤩🤩🤩
Did you just cut out the tool box?
@@JshMusician I did not cut anything out, the toolbox may not have been present on this bike.
Thank you so much for your excellent video it helped me enormously while I was rebuilding my own carbys. If I had a query it would be not enough detail on the float hight your vernier looked like 14mm so I set mine at that .Havent had it running yet but I am sure it will be good..Any way thanks for the video and keep up the good work
Yes!! This is exactly what I'm going for! Thank you so much for letting me know that it helped you!!
Great work! I’ve got my V65 running and riding great, now I just need to start cleaning and polishing things up to make it look nice. I hope I can someday make it look as good as yours does! You really did a great job.
Tips for ALL aluminum parts (Air cleaner side covers, radiator side covers, clutch cover, alternator cover, seat grab rail, rear rack, forks, seat peg brackets): -320 & 400 grit sandpaper -#2 & #0000 steel wool -Dawn Dishwashing liquid -3-in-1 oil -Brillo pads (or SOS) -Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish -Elbow grease. I only have my alternator (stator) cover & left fork to still do, but most of it comes out looking like chrome after a few hours, and being aluminum the finish keeps up nicely with Mother's Polish. Start with the sandpaper to get rid of corrosion and/or pitting. Follow with steel wool & 3-in-1, then Dawn. Then hit it with Brillo pads until it shines. Lastly, a couple rounds of Mother's will make it look like you sent it out to get plated. My '85 now looks like it spent six years in a garage instead of someone's back yard in Stanford, IL.
@@covidmisinformation7481 Awesome info! Thank you! I'll get to work on it.
i had a black 85 v65 magna.. it was a great bike, wish I'd kept it.
@@jonunya3128 That's the same story here, "...had it once, got rid of it, couldn't stop kicking myself until I got it back. Found this one, it's in rough shape but f.it. Let's go all the way." This is the most smooth, tight and responsive motorcycle I have Ever had the pleasure of riding.
At what mileage should this be done? I’m approaching 50,000 miles and not sure of the previous history of the bike. Thanks in advance
@@ufoyz250 Honda recommends to change the timing belts every 100,000 miles. Also, slightly less well-known, it is also recommended to replace the timing belts every 6 years to avoid any age-related failure. I have heard a lot of owners will replace them every 60,000 miles... All of that, I say, is suggestion anyway. Your real question is, "What condition are my belts in right now, and how long should they be ok for?" There is no measurement that can answer that better than to remove the covers and visually inspect the belts. So what? It looks like a belt!! Wear on timing belts can be indicated by the condition of the printed information that is on the flat side of the belts. Those printed details are fragile, and it's almost like it's been calibrated to wear off as the belt ages. You should rotate the crankshaft to see the entire belts, looking for cracks, especially in the tooth roots, and make sure tension's are good. No defects, happy letters and stuff on the flat side, tension IN SPEC(not too tight, not too loose), then they should be fine. Also check out the bearings, guides, idlers, and everything else on there that the belt touches. THANK YOU FOR WATCHING! 🥳
Only put one bolt in the tensioner, put the belt on, put the second bolt in. Much easier
Yes! Nice observation. I didn't like that struggle with the belt either. haha
