Bernie Karl a man to be reckoned with.
Do you have to be a residence or could I join if I sign up and pau?
I notice on your video at Chena Springs that it's sitting there empty - did you ever get it working? It must be difficult to get the water to reach every single root and I'd love to see a follow-up video before I invest in the necessary equipment. Thanks!
Did it actually work? I imagine it's hard for the water to reach every plant root, so it would be lovely to see a follow-up video before I invest in the items needed.
What is the site that has the dossier of the parts and instructions for this project?
If you go to chenahotsprings.com. Click on renewables then on renewables again, scroll down and you will see vertical lettuce tower then learn how to make one
@@DouglasHopwood the link goes to a vacation resort site… but I scrolled and finally found the actual link!!! In case u wanted to check it out, it is chenahotsprings.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Chena-Hot-Springs-Grow-Tower-Lesson-Plan-2.pdf
I watched this video about 4 years ago. I would like to put this together in my classroom with my students as a class project. Where can I get the build designs. Also was there a video with grow lights mentioned in this video?
Brandon, I will check with the resort and ask about the directions. I will also call my father in-law and see what I can find out for you. This is what he thought was important. You can contact me on my email if you would like and we can communicate. hopwood914@gmail.com
Brandon, here is a link to the directions for the grow tower on the chenahotsprings.com site under renewables and then renewables again. Anyway, here is link chenahotsprings.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Chena-Hot-Springs-Grow-Tower-Lesson-Plan-2.pdf
@@DouglasHopwood wow, I am so excited and grateful that you replied so quickly. Thank you Sir. I am building lesson plans in preparation for next year. I will research finding as many food grade materials as possible and we will definitely do it. I will reach out and send you all feedback from my experience with the build and pics of my kids and progress. Your father in law is awesome. Many thanks to you both for sharing your knowledge.
@@brandonwilliams5576 you are quite welcome. I was just sitting here watching the news. You got lucky. Please keep me informed of your progress. We have had i great response from this video. Keep up the good work
Was there an update video on this?
Thanks for the video tutorial, Amber. So well done. Your recipe is the best. We have enjoyed MANY loaves of sourdough bread thanks to your recipe and starter. ❤
Why does your husband's right hand look like an inflated balloon? Is he deformed or is the rest of his body underdeveloped?
Thanks for the starter and the video instructions! Getting ready to feed my starters today and practice your recipe. Happy New Year🎉😊🎉
Thank you I enjoyed
Immediately stopped watching after seeing that dumbass Trump flag
A family of 6 requires more than 4,000,000 calories per year. A pound of potatoes contains about 350 calories. To feed a family of 6 on just potatoes would work out to be about 12,500 lb. Under grow light, you might be able to produce 6 crops of potatoes per year. Assuming your tower can produce 50 pounds per crop, whuch is highly unlikely, You still come up more than 12,000 pounds short. By the way, I think your design is great! It certainly could produce enough greens to add to your diet.
Ehhh so much detail left out…. Incomplete. Grade C-
So does this ever work I’d sure like to see the finished product full of plants
I am going to build one of these, think its an awesome concept, i have a solar powered submersible pump with battery back up, can i leave it running 24/7 ?
Not sure, I would check the manufactures recommendations
How much do they cost?
It's a hotel website
Yes that’s correct
Beautiful. Thank you!
This really doesn't show how it was built nor have any plans to go by, plus, i would put a link in the description instead of asking or expecting us to remember or understand where you were speaking of for more details. Please do a better job next time if you really want us to have and grow our own food. I also hear those can tip over at that height and weight. Be careful. No rocks or crud on the floor.. lol Otherwise Rock on and God Bless. D.
Firbyd. This is a good video and people like it. I am not attempting to produce a how to video I am simply showing what we did. Its for entertainment not to teach you
@@DouglasHopwood Well it was a farce, sorry, but I bet more people are disappointed than like it.. cheers
I see it requires qty 72 of 1" 45° PVC Elbows. I wonder if heating and bending a 1-inch pipe would work. That would reduce costs significantly.
I know about pool noodles.
Is this a food safe bucket?
Hilarious their grow video link for a video is your video
chenahotsprings.com/renewables/
My tower was similar: water distribution is key. The tinyholes should work better like he has here. Ive got a question though; how does one scale this up? At 2a per pump (not to mension pump price), 10 towers in your already at 20 amps. The average stove with all burners turned on is rated for 50A. How can we build this same setup using the kratky method? That way if the breaker gets tripped, we still have our water source. I really liked this method, price and ziptie time asside. This project needs to evolve to kratky somehow. Thanks for the video! Next year im sproutong my seeds in sand with a peroxide type bottle on its side with holes in the bottom.
dude most pumps are around 30w and thats like .25a not 2 amps
Thank you great savings compare to plumbing pipes
Did he say this costs $220?! What part??
This is the best home made tower I have ever seen. And to think, I paid $1K for my towers.
Well thanks. I just with that the chena hotsprings didnt take it off their site.
I tried it going to your website but it's not working. Do you have another website that I can look into the direction on how to to do this?
I went to chenahotsprings.com and the site works but it appears that they no longer have the link to the grow tower up. It was called lettus alone. Sorry
nice 👍
Do you think a net pot would work instead of the pvc elbow? That would save some money on the project (100 net pots for around 15 bucks). The pvc elbows I found were $1.76 each.
Ahh I just saw the most recent greenhouse tour video.. and one of the towers had net pots! Yay!
I think anything you want to use would be great. Thanks for watching
Just some observations: The 45° PVC elbows cost in Home Depot 72×5.11 = $367.92. All the PVC and plastics for this project aren't food grade. I like the concept but I will search the web for a cost effective solution and healthy one.
Most hydro systems use pvc pipe… and the elbows are 1.16 at lowes
Thank you.
Update on the towers is here ruclips.net/video/-AtE0dxpH34/видео.html&t
Instructions are here chenahotsprings.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Chena-Hot-Springs-Grow-Tower-Lesson-Plan-2.pdf
Are the directions posted anywhere now?
Thank you for asking. Yes the instruction are at chenahotsprings.com got to: about>renewables>vertical lettuse tower>learn how to make one
@@DouglasHopwood I found it. Thank you so much for sharing these guides. ❤️
Are we not concerned to rust using metal screw inside ?
Presumably this did not work out huh? Otherwise there would have been a follow up video link in description? Few flaws are of course that it’s not food grade plastic and it’s loud and kinda ugly (which are of course non-functional flaws)
It works great and there are follow up videos. Obviously you are not a subscriber. Check out the channel. You will see them.
@@DouglasHopwood I am a subscriber now and I still do not see any follow up videos, there is a plug for hot springs resort which has nothing to do with that bucket system. There is also a short video about hot springs from 4 weeks ago with a tower in it, but nothing on instructions anywhere - please post a link here if real
Thank you for asking. Yes the instruction are at chenahotsprings.com got to: about>renewables>vertical lettuce tower>learn how to make one

I went to look for directions, didn't find any. Are they still posted on line? Love the innovation of Alaskans!!!

LoL no direction there.
@@johndurantos1480 they are at the China hot springs site, you have to look around for them

1:36 Such a small statement but I have one in my house I built and many people want one when they see it.
Instead of using plastic cups, buy a $2 noodle from pool shop etc it already has a hole in it, slice into 40 and place plants in. Great content, thanks for sharing 💚🌍 PS: Plastics containing polyethylene seeps into food. Cancer, especially when exposed to sunlight.
Awesome guys
Would like to see the assembly up close . Don't assume we know the parts and assembly.
If you go to Chena Hotsprings.com>about >renewables>. Then click on the grow tower. There should be a pdf for every thing you need.
