      Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! This was quite fun to edit. Within Temptation truly does lend itself extremely well to Evangelion. The NERV banners was a bit experimental since I figured I had to put something in the black boxes, which itself is a reference to the show's tendency to switch aspect ratios, which made Planet Hell a colossal pain in the ass until I figured out how to resize entire timelines. Speaking of Planet Hell, I'm very happy people still remember that one! It's still one of my favorites. Side note, there's a super quick Naka-kon logo I snuck in at 4:00. Only there for three frames. Even the judges missed it!

      @@bazzle0392 Much appreciated! I'm super happy to be used for such an example! ^_^ Few cool things about the Impossible amv. For starters, I did it solely as a way to showcase Two Steps From Hell, who could be best described as quite simply "holy shit", so the Fate series was an obvious choice. The original vision I had for the end fight scene was for at least part of it to take place in the Naka-kon courtyard area, but let's be honest, I very often get dumbass creative ideas that well outstrip my ability. I was lucky to even get the credits to render in time haha!

    I found this while trying to scope out the competition for the Naka-Kon contest earlier this year before I entered and I keep coming back to it every week or so. Just such an addicting AMV. I’m blown away by the skill on display here. Do you have an estimate on how long a video of this scale takes for you to complete? I spent a month on my submission and have been able to get my time down to about two weeks after more practice but none of mine have been this involved.

    • @CMDR_John_Crichton
      @CMDR_John_Crichton Год назад

      Really glad you enjoyed it! It really was insane editing this video, way more involved than my other amvs. In terms of how long it took, I actually first conceived of the idea years ago, but could never figure out how to edit the interface, but total editing time was over the course of a year, off and on. The bulk of it though probably took a couple months maybe. This amv, at least how I did it and the program I used, might not be the best yardstick in terms of comparing it to how long one's own work would take, since you're not very likely to find a video with 429 video tracks. How long a video takes is highly dependent on what software you use, length of video, target contest, and especially how balls to the wall you want to get with it. This video, for example, I just sorta went full weaponized autism and poured basically every bit of myself into it. I wanted to share with others a bit of my world that was truly special, so it took a super long time to get to a point I was comfortable showing it off. Eager to see more of your videos next year!

      Thanks! I'm super happy everyone liked the animation bit. To be honest, I'm not at all happy with how it rendered, but due to time constraints I was forced to use it as is. The 3d model I used includes every single brick in the OPCC courtyard as individual 3d objects (in order to keep the proportions accurate), so naturally that ate through all my PC's resources. It straight up would not render in the more realistic render engine in Blender, so I had to go with this. Main thing I plan to do with it is to make it into a VRChat world, so those that cannot make it to Naka can experience it in a virtual setting. Though I do have more amv plans for the 3d model in the future ;)

I was looking for clip fodder for that section, and just simply dropped it down on the timeline, saw it worked perfectly with no editing whatsoever, and it made the final cut as is. Like Shooter McGavin playing the ball as it lies, that clip played exactly where I randomly dropped it.

    Bit of explanation: The rendered animation at the beginning and end were made in Blender (I'm still a beginner), and is a 1:1 scale 3d model of the Overland Park Convention Center where Naka-Kon is held. I've spent the last two years 3d modeling the entire convention center space from scratch, and only recently decided to add what I have so far somewhere in an amv because I couldn't think of anything better for an end credits sequence. • @CMDR_John_Crichton
      @CMDR_John_Crichton 2 года назад

      I'm actually surprised someone caught that so quickly. There's a program called Real Editor you can download from Github (or the link in the description, there's some cool stuff in there) that allows you to open the .gpk files that store the game assets, so things like NPCs, monsters, and objects. If I'm not mistaken you can likely do this for every Tera private server out there, like Menma's. Pretty much the only thing that isn't there in its whole form is your custom character model, but all of its components are stored in those files somewhere. It's a bit scattered, doesn't have a very clear system of figuring out where a certain item or thing is stored, and there isn't much of a guide online stating what asset file stores and does what, so trial and error is needed to find stuff. Opening a .gpk file in Real Editor will give you a list of all the components inside, such as meshes, skeletons, and 3d models. Selecting one of those skeletons for example will open the file where it's stored, and gives you a button to export it to a separate file, by default in FBX format, which is easily imported into Blender. This export also exports the materials for whatever model you selected, so that can be imported into Blender as well. If you're after character models, those I believe come with bone structures built-in, so you shouldn't need to mess with those much. It's a bit late to recreate your player characters, assuming you don't have many reference videos or pictures, but player characters are built a bit different. They aren't one single model that can be found in one file somewhere. Each piece of armor and weapon do exist as models, but from what I understand (I may be wrong) the game sort of rebuilds your character from those base models every time you boot the game up, a bit like virtual Legos. Also at startup, the game runs the model for your character's face through the sliders you chose when you first made it. Now I haven't yet found a way to perfectly reproduce those sliders through Blender outside of just sculpting them manually, so if you want to recreate your characters for use in things like VRChat, like what I'm doing, sculpting the faces yourself appears to be the best option. Likewise with the hair models, the base files only come in grey hair, so the game runs that through the hair color option you chose when you first made it. Any hair color change you want will have to be done by running the material image through a photo editor, like GIMP or something. I didn't have Photoshop. Hope this helps! Like I said, I've included a Google Drive link for Real Editor in the description. There's also a few GPK files, exported FBX files, and materials for you to mess with if you like, plus a Blender file of my main character. Side note, Elins aren't actually referred to as Elins in the game files. They're stored under Popori for some reason. Every other race gets named properly.

      @@CMDR_John_Crichton I never saw a ton of Farscape. But they did steal a couple of the Farscape actors for the latter seasons of my favorite show Stargate SG-1! I'll be on the lookout for your entry video. The lyrical bombs amv I uploaded was going to be mine. I thought about trying to take it to a different con but I'm not sure there will be any other cons this year with how things are going.
