No one really knows how driving on the left side got started. My husband who did most of the driving while we were there said it is easier to see the edge of the road. It really was pretty easy to drive there if you just stay on the main roads.
Karen Stoffel Seems like St John would make for an ideal workout if one is into biking (with all the hills). Did you see many bicyclists on the island?
Mike S Hi Mike. We didn't see many people biking. I think it would be a great work out but pretty dangerous because of the narrow roads and turns. There are a lot of drop offs with no guard rails. But the hiking, snorkeling, kayaking is all great!
I have been going ti St. John since the 80's and as far as I think not alot has changed since then. Some changes but not alot as far as the rest of the island. Cruz Bay yes but not much to the rest of the island. LOVE ST JOHN,,,,,,,, DO NOT TELL ANYONE. LET'S KEEP IT A SECRET! I guess Kenney Chesney already screwed that up!!!! Thanks Kenney!!
Cheryl, This was our first time going and we fell in love with the island.. Great family place. One of my daughters wants to get married here now so I guess we will be going back some day. Cant wait to see it again!
The downtown area is really the only congested area .The rest of the island really isn't and you can hike to many beautiful areas without many people at all. Glad you enjoyed it.
More overgrown and congested with traffic and people than I imagined. I guess you just can't get away from the crowds anymore. Interesting video, only wish the areas were identified as driving through. Thanks for sharing!
Ok, great video, great scenery, the very wrongest music you could possibly have chosen...not Caribbean at all...

To much surprise I saw my car!!
Leslie Davignon Wow! How cool is that!
I don't think I would trust myself to be driving on St. John. Why do they drive on the left since it is the "U.S." Virgin Islands?

+hoot hootie A leftover from the Danish. More symbolism than anything else, definitely not practical. source: grew up there.

The only thing that would have been better would have been to be out in that boat on the horizon!

Thanks so much Dan! Everyone loved it!!
I never saw a mongoose. Saw donkeys, roosters, turtles, stingrays and iguanas though! Great video! Like added!
Sorry I don't remember and I can't see it listed anywhere.
The roads are narrow and it gives you a better view of the edge of the road. It is a little challenging at times but also fun to drive on the island.
Have a great time! It was our first time there and we loved it!
ill be there in june cant wait
