Hi John, Thanks for sharing your progress on this amazing project! Am I correct in thinking that all the various reed pitches and sizes would require a different profile? For hole 1 I counted 14 pitches starting with Low F, going up to G. That would mean you'd need around 140 different profiles to make harmonicas in every key.

Hi John, Thanks for sharing. I used many of your tips to repair a comb just like it. Did a great job (i think) but when trying to assemble its seems to have shrunk a bit. The reed plates seem to be 2 mm longer than the comb. Didn't leave out a hole when glueing, but that might indicate why its broke in the first place... do you have any experience with this phenomenal? I was think of soaking the comb in water so it might expand a bit, but guess that to be bad idea... if it works at all, when it dries, what will happen?

Ant reason you didn't directly go for 3-D printing choosing whatever material you wanted the cover plates to be made of, since your volumes are few in number ? Another question I have is related to nickel allergies that harmonica players have faced using harmonicas from even well known manufacturers. Your opinion. Additionally do you know of Harmonica models that are certified by the manufacturer to be completely Nickel free ?

Does full embossing effect the longevity of the reed? It seems that with very little air leakage, the reed would get “worked” more with the same amount of air.

John serviced my harmonetta and it now plays very well. Great comping tool !

I wonder if I just use Titebond II and put waxed paper between the comb and reed plates and screw everything back together and let it dry if that'd work for the gluing process.

Huge thanks for this! I'm stumbling through a stripdown of a harmonetta now. For the valve nuts, I found a 3.5mm was too big, a 3.0mm too small. A 1/8 too small but found a 9/64 nut driver did the trick

Very cool! I once had my harmonica apart and I played with using a toothpick on the reeds, kind of like a finger on a guitar fret. :)
