Repairing a cracked sewer line
Step by step on how I repaired a crack in a 4" pvc sewer line between the house and the street.
Parts Used in this repair:
4" pvc elbow (45%)
4" pvc - 24" foam core pvc (short piece of pipe for repairs)
4" x 4" transitions (rubber boots at either end)
Later I learned ... I may have been looking the wrong section because it appears that there IS a 45% section made to fit sewer and drainage lines, but I didn't know where to look. Here's the name of that part at Home Depot (PVC S&D 45° Elbow, 4 in. Hub X Hub). It's $3.88 instead of the $11.32 I paid for the "full size" 4" version but you'd also need the 10-ft stick of sewer pipe since you can't get just a small section of that (bring a hack saw t...

Lessons learned and what makes this oven different than most you’ll learn about from other videos. Not mentioned, but also like the suggestion of testing continuity on both the new and old element to verify you have found the issue.

    Don't do it this way!!!! Extremely dangerous!!! He failed to say anything about unplugging the oven until the end of his misdirecting video. You could potentially die from following this process if you don't unplug the oven. If you go through the trouble of pulling the oven out to unplug it, two screws and the access panel is off, element connections exposed and done, maybe 30 seconds. Don't do it this way, you've been warned!!!!

    Mine literally fell apart. The lens came off, and left me with an LED panel and some loose wires stuck in the hole. I couldn't get it out! Now, I have to hire a pool guy for $300 labor to replace it for me... That's a $900 repair!

    Replace them with the jandy hydrocool p series lights. They are better and have the same color scheme as globrites. I have replaced 126 globrites last two years under warranty. They are horrible lights. The jandys fit just fine and are much better. Trust me. Better warranty as well.

    The Pentair Globrites have a manufacturer defect. The New model came out 12/23. Old models had casings that failed and allowed water infiltration.

    • @gregmoore1661
      @gregmoore1661 6 месяцев назад

      Good to know. I really hope you're right, as Pentair has made a ton of $$ in the interim from people having to replace these at over $300 a pop. There really should be a class action lawsuit but the warranty is like 90 days so I guess we wouldn't have a case.

    • @gregmoore1661
      @gregmoore1661 9 месяцев назад

      Hadn’t thought of it that way, but I suppose you’re right. The only way for you to see an air bubble is to see it inside the water that has intruded, so yes air bubble confirms the water is inside the light which is not where you want it to be.

    this is truly an excellent video thank you very much. Any suggestion on knowing what length light to buy ahead of time? Do you just guess the distance from pool to the box?

    • @gregmoore1661
      @gregmoore1661 10 месяцев назад

      The only way to be sure is to go ahead and pull the old light and attach the fish tape so it's ready to receive the new one. Then measure the length of the cord and add a few feet so you'll have room to work. I "guessed" on one of mine and ended up short so I saved that one for a future replacement. Expensive mistake but I'll need it some day I'm sure.

    We have 1 light that brunt out after only 2 years, LED. Says should last 10 years. Got a message on my phone that says low voltage. Would that mean the entire light needs replaced? I looked in the box and all the wires look clean and connected. Please advise. I also don't have the option on my phone for the color show, just shows white. option. Thanks!

    • @gregmoore1661
      @gregmoore1661 Год назад

      Sounds familiar, but my system does not have the app integrated. If you see water inside the lens of the light, that could be causing the voltage drop and root cause of the light going out. I think the white LED's are a little less expensive than color, but they're still high.

      Sounds very high, nearly double what you can purchase them for. At Pool Supply Unlimited, the lights I last purchased in 2021 are currently $378.25. Perhaps these are not the same as yours, but this is a reputable site if you want to check it out. Sounds like doing the work yourself could save some serious coin, even if you had to buy a decent fish tape, which most people don't have. www.poolsupplyunlimited.com/pool/pentair-602054-globrite-color-led-pool-light/141526p1

    Greg, i have 3 pool lights that i need to replace similar to your pentair; but jandy nicheless. I noticed i have no junction box; it appears with wiring for the 3 lights is leading toward a transformer box to low voltage. Would i do the same process as you did, but to the transformer box instead? thanks in advance

    • @gregmoore1661
      @gregmoore1661 Год назад

      Probably so. Just find the conduit and attach the fish tape, start pulling the light out and you’ll know. Maybe tie string to all three so you’ll know which one you’re pulling.

  • @yorkk8172

    Greg, Thanks for the video. I have a question about getting the light out of the "nitch". After I turn to loosen it, it is not coming out. I've used a screwdriver but does not seem to help. I'm afraid to get too ruff with it and break something I shouldn't. Could the silicone have formed a bond that is making this more difficult than it should? I tried loosing another light and was able to get the light out. I'm going to get in the pool (with googles on) to see if that might help me better see where I might apply pressure with the screwdriver. Any thoughts?

    • @gregmoore1661
      @gregmoore1661 Год назад

      The plastic around the rim is pretty thick so as long as you're gentle, there's not too much risk in damaging the light. However, if the light is already out (bad) then it shouldn't really matter, right? Just avoid putting pressure on the niche itself so you don't end up with a visible dent, you know.
