    • @SamNozuhur

      For me, 4K120, faster readout from the stacked sensor which also provides better low light performance and less rolling shutter for video. In theory the X-H2s also has better AF. When I upgraded from the X-T4 it just seemed like the better upgrade as I became more video focused.

      Hey! I guess it really comes down the conditions you're shooting in and what you're looking for but if I do start pixel peeping between my sony A7IV and the Fuji, the FF does have that slight edge but I wouldn't call this much better. It's the type of difference that a client wouldn't ever pick up and when it's posted online too, often times it won't get picked up on.

    The 16-55 is an awesome lens but it has one major drawback for video: It is f2.8 all the way through the zoom range but NOT t2.8. While the aperture remains constant across the range, the transmissivity doesn’t always, and you will occasionally get a sudden brightness change in the middle of a zoom. It doesn’t happen always, but when it does it’s annoying and a lot of work to fix cleanly. The only real way around it is to change the focal length between clips, using it as a “bag of primes” instead of as a zoom. You can’t really blame Fuji for this as it was designed for photography, not for video. It’s an awesome photography lens and probably over-specced for video, at least optically.

    • @SamNozuhur
      @SamNozuhur Год назад

      Thanks for the comments and completely agree! I believe I touch on this lightly in general when I reviewed the 7artisans cine lens how F stop lenses are not standardised for their light transmission. Fortunately for me, I wouldn’t say I am zooming in and out within one clip and so far I haven’t yet encountered any noticeable change with exposure that could not be corrected when recording in F-LOG. Thanks for watching!

    Nice one Sam. I opted for the 18-35 for some of the reasons you mention with the 16-55 like the extending zoom issue. I realise I am taking a massive hit on the 18-35 in regards to AF, size and weight but at least that extending zoom thing is not an issue and I get f1.8 as a bonus. It's taken awhile now but my kit feels fairly narrowed down, xf16/1.4, Art 18-35, xf56/1.2 WR, XF50-140. Done. I do hope Fuji refresh both the 16-55 and 50-140, we could do with some f2-2.8 zooms.

    Keep doing videos about the 16-55mm I am also torn about the prime lenses vs the zoom, prime lenses are good,yes, when it comes to artistic side because you really need to move and compose, on the other hand the zoom gives you versatility but if you really want to create you can use each focal length and treat it as a prime you will have the versatility and creativity.

    I think the FF / APS-C debate is much more a matter of personal preference, and what matters to you rather than a clear divide between what's "good" and what's "bad" for pro work (or just casual photography!) I've been using an X-T2 paired with an X-H1 for pro work for over a year, and APS-C just became part of how I use my cameras. I don't apply crop factors anymore as APS-C just became my point of reference. I also have a Nikon D700, which is a camera that I absolutely love, and I felt compelled to buy a Nikon D300 which is just an APS-C version of that same camera and it was shocking how little I missed the "full frame look" that the D700 was giving me. Sure, it's better for noise and DR compared to the D300 but at the end of the day if I have to choose which setup I want to carry to do some photography work, I'll just naturally go towards APS-C as I'm more familiar with the rendition of images, focal lengths and apertures. One thing that a lot of people tend to forget is how we're not always shooting wide open. Most of the time a full frame camera will require you to close down the lens at a given focal length and working distance because the depth of field is too shallow, therefore loosing light compared to an APS-C system. Then and there, noise and DR advantage kinda goes down the drain and the difference between the two formats is so small it's meaningless to even compare the cameras only based on sensor size. Believe it or not, the D700 is a camera I shoot for the colors, I couldn't care lessa bout the fact that it's a full frame camera

    • @SamNozuhur
      @SamNozuhur Год назад

      Thanks for the comment! X-T2 has such amazing colours. When I sold my X-Pro 2 i was tempted to pick up an X-T2 just for fun. I actually got to try out a D700 awhile ago and I loved the images too. Definitely more important how you use it rather than focusing on the sensor size. There are situations one wll provide a "better" image over the other from a technical perspective however it's more important to choose what you like using and that will end up creating the image you like the most.

    The real gamechanger in the X-H2S: Preshot ES, and the appropriately large buffer to make it viable even for portrait shoots. There just isn't a better upgrade than significantly increasing your chance to capture THE moment when shooting moving subjects, IMO.

      Preshot ES is definitely awesome but i'm sure this was added into the X-T3 and X-T30 II ? The large buffer is great too, has been useful for weddings and fitness. Thanks !

    • @itswrongtokillanimalsifyou2837
      @itswrongtokillanimalsifyou2837 Год назад

      @@SamNozuhur It’s the combo. You can shoot birds in flight with a smaller buffer, because it will have time to empty before you need it again. For subjects that will consistently do things worthy of capturing, though, Preshot ES is only really practically viable if you have a large buffer and a quick way for the camera to save to memory (like CF Express cards). Otherwise, it bottlenecks and either stops capturing or captures with such a slow rate that it’s not worth using. People talk so much about that golden moment, but what’s not talked about is that the moment is often so short that human reaction time isn’t fast enough to press the shutter release once the photographer sees it. This feature increases manyfold the amount of ”classics” one comes home with after a shoot, which IMO is an absurdly worthwhile upgrade for those who shoot moving subjects.

    My experience is that Fuji zooms can’t compare with their primes. I gave mine away.

      Thanks for your thoughts! I have quite a few primes and they’re definitely amazing. It’s a balance but so far in a professional setting, I’m quite happy. What didn’t you like about your zoom?

      Maybe you need to up your skills and don't blame the lens. 🤣. People blame anything ans everything on equipment rather than looking at the mirror.

      Idk what you’re smoking but the 16-55 is sharper than some of the primes

    I sold off R6 and 5Div gear for the X H2s. Ff is better under low light but other than that absolutely love the Fuji.

    This is exactly the situation I'm in today. I use the X-T3 for social media stuff and my full-frame DSLRs for professional stills. I am thinking about selling off the DLSRs and going with a X-H2 or X-H2S...

    • @SamNozuhur
      @SamNozuhur Год назад

      I had my Nikon D780 while I had my X-T3 and to me this was the best combo. However, the great thing about going into just one system is that you can then just buy accessories/lenses that are compatible. I struggled with deciding what lenses to buy for each system and I still face that sometimes as it's not a great idea to just keep buying the same lenses for both systems and that is one of the most important things. It's better to invest more into good glass.

      I wouldn’t do that especially if your work involves low light and using high iso over 1600 iso? If so you will struggle excepting the additional noise

    • @SamNozuhur
      @SamNozuhur Год назад

      It’s actually not as bad as you think. I find even iso 3200 quite usable depending on the situation but also if we are comparing this to older DSLRs, I am sure the fujifilm will provide even better low light capabilities than most just because of the newer technology.

    • @eliaspap8708
      @eliaspap8708 Год назад

      @@SamNozuhur Not really! My EOS 1 DX 2012 model is still a bit cleaner at 3200 iso then the XH2s, there very close but if I were to be honest the older FF wins, I have both and use them both regularly, although the XH2s has better dynamic range, AF and color science, so yeah maybe the Fuji is better in some aspects but definitely not low light.

    • @SamNozuhur
      @SamNozuhur Год назад

      In the end, you need to be practical with what you are using. If you are required to be shooting just low light images for work and you cannot have any extra lighting, then the image can slightly suffer but even then, I have seen many fuji users shoot professional for music festivals with high ISO and produce amazing results. The 1DX in this case may provide a slightly cleaner images in regards to noise, but at the same time you don't have continous auto focus and other features that will allow you to capture more moments efficiently and easier which are a higher priority. I often add a lot of grain and even use diffusion filters so clinically clean images aren't always essential. Lighter setup > chunky DSLR

    Just curious would you recommend buying this over a Sony a7iv for a hybrid camera? Thanks.

    • @SamNozuhur
      @SamNozuhur Год назад

      I think it completely comes down what you're really needing and what your vibe is. Both are amazing systems and I will dive into this topic deeper soon but I can't just recommend one over the other just like that. The A7IV is no doubt amazing and offers a little more flexibility if you do a lot of paid work and low light shooting... but, some clients prefer the fujifilm rendering and colours and others love the sharpness from the sony. Send me a DM on insta and happy to discuss!
