Small ATV Plowing Deep Snow
We finally got a decent size dump. I put the little 2wd 250cc Chinese ATV to the test to push around the white fluffy stuff.

We head out to the Baxter Severn trail system on a gorgeous fall day. Riding with a great group of people always makes for an unforgettable experience. There was plenty of soupy mud to go around at the regular holes and boy were they a challenge! #canam #outlander #outlanderxmr #outlanderxmr700 #xmr700 #atv #trailriding #swamp #ontario #quadlife #mudlife #royaldistributing #gopro #traillife #of...

We finally got some snow! Here's a short video of the mighty Powermax 250 2x4 with the Kolpin Switchblade plow clearing about 3 inches of snow! Exciting right?! Oh and the music is intentional, the whine from the drone would be excruciating otherwise. #powermax #250cc #atv #quad #snow #snowplow #kolpin #kolpinswitchblade #2x4 #2wd #allballs #noco #dji #royaldistributing #raptorliner #gopro #bud...

We took a day trip out to Minden Off Road Park in the winter with some good snow on the ground. Snow suits were quickly changed to waders as the ice wasn't thick enough yet and we had to deal with lots of ice cream. This was an epic day, I would recommend anyone itching to ride in the winter in Ontario to go check out Minden Off Road Park. #canam #outlander #outlanderxmr #outlanderxmr700 #xmr70...

Trillium Off-Road Recovery Mud Run at the Baxter Severn Trails with the Can Am Outlander XMR 700

Let me say it, I haven't done many group rides (I'm more of a solo ride guy), but this ride hosted by Trillium Off-Road Road Recovery was fantastic. Such a great group of riders! We had an emergency on the ride with one of the riders dislocating her knee in a mud hole, which kind of brought me back to earth by realizing just how quick an accident can happen even if you're just taking it slow. A group of us decided to hit the backyard trails this long weekend - all Can Ams - and we had a blast. Decided waders weren't necessary and damn were we wrong! There certainly was enough mud to go around, but also had enough water to wash off. I take the XMR 700 on the first trail ride for the season. First time towing a distance with the Tesla Model Y and first time hitting the public trails. I was at the Phelpston, Ontario trails which fall under the COATV club. It was a quick little rip, just what the soul needed. I definitely need to explore more, so I will be back. As expected, the XMR 700 handled it perfectly. #atv #4wheeler #q...

How stuck can you get with a 2 wheel drive ATV?

How stuck can you get with a 2 wheel drive ATV?
Your atv looks a lot like a Honda recon 250, I wonder if that's what they based it on
That first ride you did in Simcoe, where was that ? 6:49
excellent job. thanks
Use your snowblower once you ha e your row at the end of the driveway to blow it into the ditch.
Good idea. But where's the fun in that? I'll probably do it if I have a ton of snow at the end of the drive.
More like 4 inches, but 10 when measured by a man :)
Not bad for a Chinese 4 wheeler
Good Morning from Central Oregon, enjoyed the video.
Oregon here as well.
Oh my word watching this all the way in sunny South Arica
Pretty amazing trail network, some nasty holes in there!! Picking up one of these Xmr 700’s this weekend….what size tire do you have and did you not like the stockers? Oh, what was the DPS issue?
Im running 31" Motohavoks. The stock tires do just fine and can certainly hold their own in mud, I just needed some extra height. The power steering unit had an issue for some reason it was still fine and when I fired it up at home to load on the trailer I had zero power assist. Was all fixed under warranty so no biggie.
@ ….very nice! Did you have to do any clearancing or clutching for the 31” tires?
Great video and an amazing day
Thank You! It was a killer day for sure
Good job John. Keep it up. It’s Nelson. With the 570 Polaris and Can-Am 650.
Hey Nelson! Thank you! Did you finally get that Can Am fixed?
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it!
You should consider turning the music off or down sooner 👍 great video though sweet quad
Thanks, I'll consider it for the next video!
How long have you had that 700 for? Any major issues, or cracks on frame?
Just over a year. No issues besides the DPS not working but that was sorted out under warranty. Haven’t seen any indication that the frame is cracked. Would I buy it again? Absolutely.
Anyone put this plow on a 2024 can am outlander?
Thanks for the video! I ordered the same light from Princess Auto, just wondering if yours came with the “quick connect” cable or if you bought that separate? Mine only has the wire coming from the light to a male 4pin connector, but I cannot seem to find the female 4pin end to connect to it.
Yes mine came with the female pigtail too. It's a hit and miss when you buy from Princess Auto, especially online ordering. You have to make sure that the box hasn't been opened in any way. So many times I have bought something just to find something removed from the packaging.
@ I bought one local and when I got home (about 4 hours away) noticed it didn’t have the female pig tail. Went back to the store and they argued that it didn’t come with it, that I had to buy the harness separately. None of the harnesses they sell have the 4 pin DT connector. Going to try and order one from the online store, or just make one myself. I ended up buying a deutsch connector kit. Thanks for the info, and love the setup of your bike!
Great video. I was wondering this myself. I saw the xt and wondered why mine wasn’t integrated. Now it is.. It took me 5 minutes after watching your video. Great content!
Glad to help!
Update: Since my below post I also bought & installed rubber flap (for top of blade), corner marker posts and 1 x side universal side wing (made it fit) and 2" PVC pipe on its cutter blade (to protect my gravel driveway). I also bought / installed a Snatch Block with 2" wheel (can also use 2.5" wheel version) - for its hoist steel cable. These upgrades are worth it as well....
Hello what side wing did you purchase? I’m looking for one. Thank you
Wow thank you! Great mod, and why isn’t the dealer doing this, it would be easier to install than a separate switch!
I have seen some dealers do it, that's why I asked the question, why are some integrated and some aren't. This is a new concept though with Can Am, so I wonder if some of the techs that do the add ons aren't aware.
Hell yea I love the Baxter trail system. I have a 2010 sportsman and I am looking to but a 700 xmr would you recommend it? Love the vids
Yeah Baxter rocks! I have absolutely no regrets getting the XMR700. In my opinion it's the BEST bang for your buck you can get at the moment. After you've risen one, worked on one and somewhat modified it you'll quickly realize that Polaris, Yamaha and honda have a long way to go to catch up, and trust me im not a fan fanboy at all.
Ok. Good to know. Thanks lol.
That squirrel ate my garlic bread today !!! lol
Lol! Did you run into the chipmunk too? He loves any kind of scraps you throw at it.
No chipmunk, but that squirrel got our paper towels too.
I bought / installed the same Kolpin 48-60 universal plow on my ATV 2011 Arctic Cat 550 TRV (2-Up). Instructions stated 45-60 minutes to assemble the blade. I started at 8:30 AM, had 1.5 hour lunch and completed at 2:30 PM. Yes. That long - with a large cup of coffee and my reading glasses. Retired people with bad knees/hips take longer time. smiles. For my ATV's under belly, I used 4 x U-Bolts and 2x2 hard wood spacers. And I cut off the tips of extra long U-Bolt threads as well. During its install I did add a few more flat washers and greased its swivel points. All installed "as it should" and very happy with its looks, with its ease of angle change and with its safety tilt ability. It's worth buying "on sale". Recommend this adjustable plow...
If ATV front wheels hit the plow parts I'd simply re-mount the universal mount forward 4-6 more inches. If unable to move forward, remove the provided square steel bars, take to local welder guy and he can easily make / provide 4-6 inch longer bars. That's what I would do...
That was my thinking at first and wouldn't be a problem if I was mounting it on a full size atv, however on my small frame 250cc I didn't have much space to work with and had to mount it behind the front wheels in order for the wheels to have enough clearance. I changed out the bars to 38" ones just yesterday and seems to fix the problem. We are expecting a dumping of snow later this week, I can't wait to test it.
Best thing you can do is add a pully... but you can't do that with a strap!
Agreed. A pulley will decrease the drain from the winch by half and be double the strength to lift the plow but will also decrease the speed at which it lifts and drops by half. Seeing that my winch does a decent job at lifting my rather light weight plow I don't see the need and would rather save the expensive synthetic rope.
I didnt care for my pulley system. One time the rope had a little too much slack and came off the pulley and snapped. Straps are the way to go with fairlead
How is it holding up? Does it matter to use the rolling fairlead or one without rollers
It's holding up perfect. Just swapped out the winch rope for the strap yesterday in preparation for this season. Strap had absolutely no wear on it. Last season I used the roller, this season I'll use the hawse fairlead, should make no difference.
How’s she holding up ?
Very well considering what I put it through this past season. Only issue was the DPS unit that stopped working but had that replaced under warranty. Further more I wouldn't trade it for any other machine out there at the moment.
This place is on my bucket list to ride. I see you changed up your tires….did you not like the stock ones? How would you compare the two? Cheers!
The stock tires do great, only reason I changed them out is the size, was looking at going at least 30". Settled with these 31's and it makes a difference. You don't get hung up that easily.
Great video! These trails look like a blast to ride! Where do you stage to ride these? Are there accommodations nearby for those who aren’t local? Cheers!
The trail head is at 35 Violet Drive in Port Severn, just off the 400. Im not sure about accommodation, but because its cottage country im sure there are a ton of AirBnB's and motels around.
I’m in Canada to I’m on the Quebec side
Slay
Where is this trail ? nice one !
love the new outlander 700 xmr, wish i could buy one, maybe once my family has the money but for now i will have to wait for several months, awesome video man
Do you have the part number? thought i grabbed the correct one but the controller was different. Great video by the way, I couldn't find anything else online.
CAN-AM 3500 HD was the winch I bout, and it integrated no problem.
I'm a little be hind I like your video that is something a side by side can not get threw ,, please do not judge I went got a Kodiak 700 it a very nice machine for the trails I go on
Yo that’s sick
Hey, wondering where you got that tow hook in the front ? I've been searching, and they all say it doesn't fit ?
@@CastScratchFever Got it from the dealer, as far as I know it only mounts onto this specific bumper
@BackyardATV okok thanks 🤘🤘🤘
What’s your trailer setup? Liking the straps! Can you make a video on it?
It's a 4x8ft converted boat trailer. Bought it from a guy that refurbed it for dirt cheap. I slapped some e tracks on and an upgraded winch. I'll get a video done on it in the near future for you.
Great vid. I'm very likely pulling the trigger on a XMR700 this week. The trails I ride in Northern NY near Canada are very very similar. How does the bike trail ride? Comfortl in rocky situations, mountain climbing etc. I really think the XMR is a nice all around machine. However as I get older comfort is a big plus
BONITA CUATRIMOTO
Great meeting and riding with you John! Hope to see you again soon
Good video look forward to explore the trails around here shared your video with a bunch of my friends 👍
Nice! Thanks for the share!
I'm looking for a winch switch like this, but I can't find it, do you know the number of parts?
Im not too sure, I had my winch installed through the dealer and one of the reasons I did so was for that integrated switch. Maybe get in touch with your dealer and ask them if they can order it in.
Just bought an XT two weeks ago. It's my first quad and I'm loving the heck out of it! The trails and most of the paths around my way are mostly gravel, exposed rock with a bit of marsh and sand so, while the XMR was tempting seemed to be overkill for the local terrain. On a serious note, is there anywhere on the bike to mount a license plate or do I need to buy an aftermarket adapter?
Yeah I was torn between the XT and the XMR. Decided on the XMR because of the raised snorkel and rad, never know what your going to find yourself in and that peace of mind goes a long way. Also the XMR has the locking front diff and not the viscolok, which kind of sealed the deal. Regarding the plate, the dealer installed mine, I have the full bumper at the back and it did seem challenging to get it mounted but it's there.
Thankyou. My synthetic rope broke and upon inspection was looped under other strands and cinched down tight and the works were frozen in place. Let me tell you, getting it off the winch at -10F was a real pleasure. I don’t have a heated garage-I put a torch to the spool and melted the synthetic. I’m doing your fix tomorrow-hoping for smooth sailing next winter
Happy it helped! Just make sure that you get that spool and duct tape warmed up too when you apply it.
hey how’s the xmr holding up after a month?
So far so good, just finished with the break in period and no complaints at all for now.
Hello bro, does your XMR 700 have any kind of squeaking noise?
No Luckily not, from what I have seen from others is that it may be the back sway bar that causes it.
@@BackyardATV Exactly. I was going to buy an XMR 700 but I saw that that squeaking noise happened to many and I decided to wait a little longer. I will be watching your videos if your XMR700 doesn't make any squeaks I will go buy mine
My 700xt has a squeak but only to 10km/h so u don't hear it that often
@@chrosobrien359 Can you make a video of the noise and upload it to RUclips?
@albertolobo6608 who cares if it squeaks? I have this exact atv and the bushings all around the atv are almost indestructible. And the sway bar don t squeaks, it is more a knocking sound, you can barely heard it. Exept that, the atv don squeak at all.
That’s the one to put the snow plow on never get enough snow to stop that rig !!!
I know right! Im tempted to put a plow on but the budget doesn't allow for it considering what size driveway I have. Maybe next season.....
U said u used a 1/2” eye bolt doesn’t it call for m12 in the instructions that is metric for 7/16” not quit as big as half inch not trying to be picky or anything but I want to ordering one of those lifting eyebolts but just need to know the correct size
You can use 7/16" if you want, 1/2" fits just fine on mine, I didn't have to do any modification. Try and get a Stainless steel eyebolt if possible, the carbon steel rusts up relatively quick. Im not sure where you're from, but you can also get a m12 stainless eyebolt on Amazon if that works better for you.
I’m here in Newfoundland Canada a small town called St Lawrence. I am glad to hear from u and yes i now have a couple ordered of Amazon M12 eye bolts Bit longer than I needed but the price was very good I’ll just have to trim them after I get them in place once again thanks for getting back to me u have a good day !!!!
Right on. I had to trim mine too. I think you guys had a bit more snow in the east than we did here in Ontario this season.
Yeah we have a huge snow storm coming in the next 3 day up to 80 cm but where I’m to we are getting 15 to 30 cm take care
please send some this way! Stay Safe
Like to see your update when u add the new push tubes
Oh yeah, I’ll definitely do a follow up. Don’t think it will be this season though. I don’t see much snow in the forecast.
You're gonna love this XMR 700 best bang for the buck
With that eye bolt there for your hook will the blade still pivot left to right ????
Yes it pivots easily, just dont tighten the nut at the bottom too much and you're good.
