I OPERATED 2 1080 'S FOR AN AGRICULTURAL CONTRACTOR IN THE 1970'S IN ENGLAND, 1 SECOND HAND AND 1 NEW, THEY WERE THE MOST UNRELIABLE OF THE MANY MASSEY FERGUSONS WE HAD. WE HAD ENGINE TROUBLE, MULTI-POWER FAILURE, BRAKE FAILURE, STEARING JOINT FAILURE ON BOTH OF THEM. NONE OF THE OTHER 12-15 MASSEYS WE HAD SUFFERED FROM ANY ENGINE PROBLEMS AT ALL, IN FACT, APART FROM THE DRY DISC BRAKES THAT HARDLY EVER WORKED WE HAD VERY FEW PROBLEMS.

i was a mf mech when the 180/1080 1100 came out only thing i wanted they put a smaller version of 354 perkins in 1080 that would made it perfection those were great tractors then idiots at vatiety corp changed to 2000 series with a cat built trans that cat said would not hold up and the rest ie history

1080,1085 l think were amongst the best tractors Massey ever produced, l rate them higher than the 11 series
