CUrious about Floating Wetlands
Просмотров 2592 месяца назад
CU and the MO Dept of Conservation have installed a floating wetland at Fellows Lake! This amazing addition will create a habitat for birds, bugs, and other wildlife while filtering out sediment and contaminants from storm water. Floating wetlands also filter nutrients that feed algae, leading to cleaner water for both animals and people. Since Fellows Lake is too large for algaecide treatment,...

Get Out Fast if You Suspect Natural Gas!

If you suspect a natural gas leak, stop what you are doing and Get Out Fast. Natural gas is a clean-burning, efficient fuel that is naturally odorless and colorless. To assist with leak detection, City Utilities adds a foul-smelling odorant to natural gas before delivering it to customers. If you smell rotten eggs, see unexpected dead vegetation, or hear hissing, you could have a leak. If You S...

My husband was a power plant operator in Washington State for 35 yrs...Before security got so tight in 2000, I would climb the stack with him & we'd eat lunch, about once a month...448 feet...and no elevator...glad we were not scared of hights...
What a cool memory you two shared! Sure is quite a view isn't it?
Great bus driver!
I want to say thank you to City Utilities for helping me get around Springfield with your transit services; you guys are SUPER helpful, and I greatly appreciate it!
Our Transit team is the best! Thanks for the kind words! We would love a great Google review if you have a minute! g.page/r/CWfY20tu2qcwEAE/review
Do you have one of these for a 1 MVA pad mount transformer?
We don't have a video for that specific project. If you are planning a job within the CU footprint, you can visit our website to find our standards. www.cityutilities.net/business/construction/
Only an idiot would climb that high. Thank GOD for idiots.
makes my toes curl
Absolutely! :)
Love this so much. Thank you for having me 🙏🏽
Wow!! Thats insane!!
7:13 - 7:38 It was mentioned that the stability of the grid was challenged as wind turbines in Oklahoma and Kansas were not moving (no wind for a while) and solar energy could not be harvested due to the long period of cloudiness. Thus, the regional energy demand stressed (pulled more than planned from) the regionally available pool of natural gas supply. In context of diversifying our local energy sources; what is CU's take on the reemerging buzz on hydrogen fuel cells? ... or are hydrogen fuel cells viewed as more of an option for more rural areas outside of the Springfield "metro" area?
This is how they precipitate rain by many of these plants going off simultaneously. There are literally over a hundred patents on weather modification and many that are currently in use. Haarp technology emitted from cell towers is how they move large storm systems dumping rain in target locations. Geo engineering is key to understanding the true nature of “climate change”.
I'd like to demand a refund for your education, because you clearly aren't using it.
Don’t be a mindless robot, do your own research. I have the documents to back up everything I said.
@@JohnSmith-fv7fi I'm sure you do. And I'm sure they're definitely peer reviewed and from credible sources people not you have heard of before, right?
Nice
My local plant 3 miles away woke me up at 2 am this morning doing this lol

The water sometimes has too much bleach which causes me to buy drinking water, can you tell me why?
I have lived in many places and Springfield's water is the best tasting water there is! Thank you! :)
100% in town is not true! As I live across from Bass Pro and in CENTER CITY I am not eligible for fiber internet with either providers mentioned nor do I have an ETA when anything other than ATT 25 DSL at this point.
Jakob, without knowing your exact address we can only speculate on where things stand in regards to this service being available for you. The fiber has been run to 100% of the CU service territory and most likely will be available to you to sign up by May 15th. Brightspeed is the provider and this is the website that you can plug in your address to in order to find out if they are ready to provide internet service to you. www.brightspeed.com
@@CityUtilities can you ask Bright-speed why I’ve waited so long for service and why now I won’t be able to get the $65 rate for the gigabit package like the rest of town? Saying it’s $100 now.. Just called today and no official ETA. When will other ISPs be able to use this infrastructure? How can I reach out to other ISPs and make them aware they are allowed to use these lines too?
@@jakobkay60 Brightspeed is responsible for the service to the residence along with setting their pricing. Brightspeed has shared with CU that a discount postcard will be sent in the near future allowing for a reduced rate. Please visit Brightspeed.com for all service related questions.
@@CityUtilities weird the company was Centurylink Quantum about a year ago. So how can another ISP come in and purchase rights on a Spring-net line? I am asking so I can make others aware and this not be strict by only having Brightspeed and ATT.
No response. Typical.
WHEN?
If it's not already available, it will be very soon. Visit www.brightspeed.com to find out if your address is ready for internet service.
Right on! :)
Yet you can't figure out that people's meters aren't working properly, and hit them with huge bills. Sounds good to me.
I seen where people that actually put trees around their transformers and stuff and you don't know it's there unless you're looking at the blueprints because they got too much stuff like flowers and shrubs growing up over the transformer
Rodeo and everyday life two different ... Go faster not making money. Unless it's prorated... Running around with power tools speeds up job. Line wrench. Like bucket truck speeds up job. Therefore not getting paid for all those hours of work. Doing 2,3,4,5 days work in a day. No pension,no health benefits... So go faster for less. Those old timers pension health benefits. Doing fraction of work completed... Think about.
my son is a lineman.. makes more money than I do and has better benefits. Best decision that he ever made was to become a line man
Appreciate the work of all those maintaining the equipment and keeping the lights on 24/7, 365 and the families behind those workers
Thank you for all the hard work you guys do to keep the "lights" on every day! :)
Obama must have been the DJ at this event

Instead of the rebates going to the consumer, they should go into the city, county, and state road funds because the EV users are not paying the fuel taxes that everybody else pays.
You are assuming that people are wanting EV,s. Many want nothing to do with these vehicles, that they seem to want to cram down our throats.
Did not miss it! Great video with all the clips. It pays to buy a Raffle ticket!
AWESOME THE GUY SHOULD HAVE LEFT HIS AUDIO OFF
How does this raise money? It costs for experts to demolish them and haul the debris away. Guess the railroad will be gone eventually. I used to hear the coal trains at night.
Love the video. It would have been better with some Metallica.
Right! Except they would have charged an arm and a leg to let us use it, or maybe a chimney stack but we're fresh out... Thanks for watching!
How often does natural disasters happen in Ava?
Why?
Why demolish the stacks? The power plant has reached the end of it's useful life. It is not efficient enough to be beneficial to the community anymore. Upkeep on the stacks is very expensive and in the long run cheaper and much safer to remove them.
would have been nice to see without the goddamn music ruining the experience.
ruclips.net/video/ZkqA5FjpEZQ/видео.html Here you go Jeff.
Lineman’s rodeo 1997. @
Strangely satisfying.
It makes a change to find a video showing a power station chimney being constructed. All there seems to be nowadays is videos showing them being demolished. I like the chimneys.
worked on many stacks, ex super stack in sudbury 1250 feet, they make electric and air chainfalls, this is 2021 not 1903 get with the times.
Oh'bom-Bidet will not be happy with your "non green" energy!!!
Very informative!
I guess I missed it, why do we not need it anymore?
I was wondering the same thing.
That is a great question and there are two parts to the answer. First, James River Power Station has reached a point that it is beyond it's useful life. The cost to upkeep and run it is expensive largely because the units are old and inefficient. Just like an old heater or a/c unit on your home becomes over time or an old car that continually needs maintenance. The parts become harder to find and you only get a fraction of the efficiency that you would get with newer models. Second, CU has enough generation at John Twitty Energy Center, six natural gas fired turbines, the wind farms, the solar farm, and a couple other smaller green power generating commodities that it also negates the need for these units to remain online. We also have access to the market to purchase electricity as needed. If we did continue to run the units at JRPS, it would force up the costs of customers electric bill due to higher costs to run them. I hope that helps answer your question!
@@CityUtilities Yes it does, thank you.
Opino que es un sistema constructivo que exige muchas maniobras y mucha manipulación de los equipos, también quedan muchas juntas en el hormigón de la chimenea
Here we are 10.years after this was published. Nearly 10000 views and I have the honor of being the first ro comment. The real reason this is necessary is to blow out all the welding rods, coke cans, piss bottles and whatever else was left by people just like me. You should see the crap that comes out of these. Your buddy's favorite welding hat, a bunch of empty Copenhagen cans, the trash your foreman told you to pick up, you name it.
