Nothing wrong with the performance. Raw ones like this better than the usual polished ones and mean so much more. A little gravely voice added texture but the vigor has always been his character.

Dutchman here..I was about 10ys old, when I heard that mr Sinatra died. When I heard my grandfather and dad talk about him, I wanted to listen to him. Blew my mind.. Got some great LPs through the years, and played them when my kids were baby's. They are 10 and 14 and they still like the songs I play.. What a legacy, and thankfull for the great memory's ...

I watched Frank Sinatra when he performed in the Philippines in 1994. I was 26 yrs old. He told a joke about being sunburned in Manila then repeated the same joke after singing another song. But his voice was still there. When he sang My Way it was the greatest performance.

I saw Sinatra at the Desert Inn in 1993. The end was truly near. The Maguire sisters were in attendance that night and he introduced them there times - each time as it was the first.

0:59 i think i hear him getting choked up, might have also been why he seemed to forget some of the lyrics, he, at the time was 79 (or 78) and the reason for that is probably because he is realizing that the end is actually near, and that he is singing what essentially is what is his remembrance as, someone who made his career, his way. 2:00, he also seems to shed a tear. but who am i to say, he did after all have alzheimers, so i can't be sure on the poetic nature of it.

May I just say how sweet it is to see, that even in his old age, he was still wearing his orange accessories. Even when his lyrics weren’t quite all there, he never forgot his favorite color

This is very moving. Shortly after his death, I remember hearing on NPR a critic saying that when you saw Sinatra perform, you could see what a great actor he was. When his voice wasn't as good as it was in his youth, he could keep the audience mesmerized because of how he could interpret the song. I believe he had a unique way of doing that, that few singers can even come close. I believe that he put across the feeling that his life was nearing the end. I also don't believe that he got enough credit for his acting roles. He was a great comeback surprise with his performance in FROM HERE TO ETERNITY '54. He was considered washed up, and begged for the role. His final interpretation of My Way shows the resilience he had. Like many others in the comments, I grew up with Sinatra. Friends I had in NYC told me of their parents, as teenagers, seeing him at the Paramount in Brooklyn in the 1940s. Frank Sinatra was very much the entertainer of the mid 20th century to the end of it.
