As of 2018, officials banned temple climbing in Bagan because the temples are old and may not be sturdy, posing a sa...

    thank you MaP for this film... and thank you, Victoria - we need more people explaining Holistic Management and holistic planned grazing... it has reversed the degradation of many farms and ranches around the world... And yes one other really important benefits of cattle and other large herbivores is that they carry microbes in their gut which they poo out, re-inoculating the soil with microbes... this is especially important in areas which get infrequent rain - it is said "herbivores are the humidity of the desert". No other technology that we have can accomplish all the things that a well-managed cow can (other herbivores such as sheep work too). As Victoria says - it is the short time that animals are kept on the grass which is the extremely critical point and is the point that is often not understood. Yes, you allow them to graze freely, they will destroy the land... but if WE humans manage them well they are collaborators in land restoration... and the provide nutrient-dense food.

    As a prospective host, I think it would have been nice to, at a minimum, send a follow up letter to the host you left early, explaining why you felt uncomfortable staying. You all had expectations and they weren’t met. It is no simple task to prepare your home for two strangers to move in for a few weeks, feed them and organize work for them. More food is a simple agreement that could have been arranged if you had communicated your desire/expectation.

    Good morning WWOOFers and future WWOOFers, we have just watched this travelling with MaP Video and would like to point out to anyone currently WWOOFing or thinking about WWOOFing in Australia. 1./We strongly suggest you read the WWOOFer Guidelines wwoof.com.au/volunteer/#guidelines and our Terms and Conditions before you join, so you understand your obligations and ours. 2./ Make sure you understand as quoted on our website: *4-6 hours per day maximum. Please note it is a maximum of 38 hours in any 7 days. Schedule is worked out between you and the Host. - So make sure when you arrive at your Host Farm and filling in your information on the WWOOF Guest Book Form required by all our Hosts that you discuss and ask as many questions during this induction time (you can also ask them prior to your arrival, which we encourage, what a typical day would be) 3./ WWOOF Australia has a very good complaints procedure and our only wish is that MaP had of picked up the phone during this time not after the fact. We have been going for 38 years and pride ourselves on customer service. So please any WWOOFers out there or if you are planning to WWOOF think about in great detail what WWOOFing is, it is not just a way to travel around Australia cheap, we have Hosts in many different industries that would like to share their knowledge and in exchange hopefully you can share some with them. There is always someone in our our Office Monday to Friday except public holidays to answer any questions you may have 03 51550218 www.wwoof.com.au Remember before you travel always have Travel Insurance! - The WWOOF Team

    Excuse me but why are you using wire cutters to prune the saplings? Has your boss never heard to secateurs! Apart from that, the work experience you show, mulching, fertilising with horse manure, wood chopping and tree planting is so basic that it's almost a waste of time. But I am pleased to hear that you had a positive experience with the Beattie family, and that they fed you more than bananas. Also surprised to hear that you guys are from Canada! (Also not sure that chopping up and burning a tree for ashes is truly a "green" solution!)

  • @Meijimack
    @Meijimack 5 лет назад

    This was a good video, with some very good examples of the type of work you have been doing. I don't know anything about the WOOF website, but I assume you can give feedback on your experiences, good and bad, so that your fellow travellers aren't subjected to the same kind of experience you suffered, the starvation diet, or being to work like trojans. It is interesting that you aren't prepared to tell host families exactly why you feel forced to move on because of food rationing or unreasonable work demands. Also fortunate that you are travelling as a couple, in which case I would be interested to know what work your partner is offered, Pablo.
