The USS John F. Kennedy had an F-14 do a supersonic fly-by for us in early 1981. During the summer of 1980, the USS Saratoga had an F-4 Phantom do one for us.

They should have upgraded the Tomcat it could do things the Hornet will never be able to do, like long range fleet protection.

That was not a sonic boom. That was a sonic explosion.

You can’t really even fathom just how fast some of these jets are until you see them in person. That 2nd video looks fast, and it is. But you can process it better watching the video than you can in real life. I’ve seen one where I felt my chest rattle, heard the bang and was like “wtf was THAT” and that’s when I saw the old cat. Swept back, hauling ass.

Everyone says that the roar of an F-22 is the best sounding thing ever… until they find out what they missed from this beautiful girl.

When did the AH1F model come on line. I was in Nam and in an aviation company that got Cobra aircraft in 68. We got the AH1G variant? The 1F model more closely resembles the 1S model with the squared edge canopies?

I was on the USS Constellation and during on Tiger Cruise in 2003 we did the Airshow out at sea for the dependents on board. One of the most awesome things to watch. This was also the last cruise for VF-2 Bounty Hunters in the Tomcat. When the Tomcat did it's super sonic pass, it was 60 feet off the water and you could see the shockwaves of the sonic boom impacting the water behind the jet as it past by, I will never ever forget that experience!!!

Finally, an actual supersonic video! Awesome!
