    MOW, that's definitely the reason all the infrastructure was possible at the time, strangely enough not anymore as the requirements for so many private companies and corporation plus health and safety issues. But of course our dollar is definitely not worth that our pound once was, sadly our globalization system might be a problem, here in Taupo I knew so many men and families whom lived their full working lives on the projects, another reason not possible today,

    We really enjoyed watching this, we used to live in Brisbane and it brought back memories. But is there a way in the chat or somewhere to add where each clip is. We continued to discuss and guess, some were extremely easy because they still haven’t changed, but some were much harder. People much younger, that would have more trouble with the trickier ones might help them to know not only Brissie, but the areas of the capital of Queensland.

    Todays Sydney doesn't have a finger nails clipping of charm that the Sydney of the past had. Probably stopped being awesome around the 2000s. Coincidentally, that's when the Olympics came around and made architecture sterile and souless looking. Right after they made those garbage villiages in Homebush I swear they just started making all apartment blocks made exacly like those.

    • @ThatRobbie
      @ThatRobbie День назад

      That's an interesting observation, regarding the Olympics and development style. Mind you, I was there in 2018 briefly and visited Melbourne too. Melbourne used to be my favourite (as a boy)... but Sydney was so much better than Melbourne in 2018.

      @@ThatRobbie First time I ever went to the city and was aware of it was in the late 90s. I remember it was a very brown city. A lot of old brick especially around the Central/Redfern/Newtown areas. It was a cosmopolitan shock to the system especially coming from the Western suburbs. So many sub cultures nested in the city so I frequented in parts for years before the party years. I watched its look change throughout the 2000s. My drinking days were in the 2000s and it was my generations fault Sydney has curfews by 10pm. Because we couldn't handle our drink causing at least a fatality or two a weekend just from fights. You had to really seek your crowd. I was fortunate enough to find things like warehouse parties and clubs more my style right when the club scenes started taking over. I had a relatively exciting nightlife in the 2000s. But my mum and dad would describe Sydney in the 80s and 70s and it was even better. Live bands in every venue. You could still smoke indoors. It was a culture that is long forgotten. I think Clubs NSW also has a large hand monopolising the nightlife market by setting up store in every major metro area to stop people from places like the Western suburbs from going out to places in the city. That's why I say the good times probably ended sometime around the 2000s. I caught a glimpse of that world before all the dance clubs and curfews took over. The face of Sydney was trying to be more post modern after the Olympics. I just remember this feeling of class being sacrificed for efficiency. Which I think fits right in with modern architecture. My highschool also moved to a brand new facility in my senior years so I was really exposed to this new identity Sydney began to adopt. Everything felt more sterilised, cheaper, but more efficient and easily disposable. Which I guess is the way the future should be. I don't know. Maybe it's just me but I remember things just looked better quality.

      @@juliangrant9718 Personal perceptions are a funny thing. 20 years ago the city felt like a stagnant and pretty garbage place to me… I’d just been traveling around the shining cities of East Asia and came home to clogged unwalkable roads, dying infrastructure everywhere and the back end of the most violent periods of Kings Cross era - of which I got to see the joys of first hand whilst working in an ER. Now, the infrastructure has made it possible to get around the city in more than just your car, the CBD is super walkable, the footy stadia are better than ever and they’re bringing back trams. I reckon it’s bloody amazing. 20 years ago, I couldn’t wait to get out of the place and we all called it “Shitney”, but now I reckon it’s an awesome city.

    Paradise ruined by over populated Sydney and Melbourne the main cities, due to extensive emigration. Sydney and Melbourne are now too expensive to live in or buy a house thus rent forever. The west gave their manufacturing jobs to China and there are very few well paid jobs to live a life like you see here. Yet more and more emigrants arrive destined to live in mostly these two cities Sydney and Melbourne. Australia's liveable land is huge and population spread needs to be look at.........enough with expanding these cities!

    • @LeonAust
      @LeonAust День назад

      @@ThatRobbie I was really referring to previous Australian governments not distributing population growths around Australia not anti immigration. If immigration was to discontinued in Australia our population would go into decline. And now.... The place is a shithole. The harbour is great for the first 5 times you see it. And then you head beyond Erskineville and it's skumsville filled with filth, bogans or millennials or some races I've never even heard off that won't assimilate. One place I wouldn't give a shit if I were to never see again. Sydney siders are delusional for some bizarre reason. I've lived in multiple cities around the globe and Sydney is the the worst I unfortunately had to live in for work. And to those that complain, it's likely they've never left Campbelltown, Mt Druitt (Prison - sorry, Penrith) or Liverpool.

    Seriously, I could have watched another hour and a half this. Totally enjoyable and takes me back to my younger years. The one thing I forgot was how smoggy the air in the city was back then. Ugh!!

      @@CarolFremel-my4hs You're lucky, Carol. All the time I spent in Sydney (5 days a week) I saw a lot of hazy stuff. I have to be honest here though; Sometimes now I miss the smell of the city as I no longer live there. Central Station had it's own smell/feel and sometimes I get that and it takes me back. It's now a memory more than a carcinogen....which is a good thing!

      I will be adding more videos of Sydney from other years... and other cities too. Teaser, I have a video coming up about a country girl moving to Sydney. It's brilliant... quite comical to watch because of the context of her falling in love etc, but highly amusing and sweet. This week, I hope.
