Mesa Boogie Mark V 25 (First Impression)
My first impressions on my newly acquired Mesa Boogie Mark V 25 with matching 2x12 cab!
I personally absolutely LOVE this amp but online has a lot of mixed reviews. Seems like people either love it or hate it. What are your thoughts?
Also, yes my floor was uneven causing the cab to rock a bit😬

Epiphone Is Shocking Me… (Adam Jones Les Paul Custom 79)
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.10 месяцев назад
We have to talk about this new Epiphone release. As a big Tool fan I’m not sure how I feel about this. Thoughts? 2500$ CAD after taxes or the 2000$ after taxes art collection model? Only difference to me is the headstock, tenon, inlays, & pickups. Really torn with this release!! Its definitely a beauty though🤘🏻 Sweetwater: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LPC79AJSB epiphone-adam-jones-1979-les-p...

    I immediately hear the difference. An epiphone has an annoying sound they all have common. The only Epiphone I own that I actually didn't mind the sound but i wasn't in love with but that was the Epiphone AFD. To me the tone sounds bleached out, shallow and glassy sounding . I watched a blind test between an Epiphone Les Paul versus a vintage v100 . I laid the phone down and didn't even watch the video and I knew immediately which one was the Epiphone. If you own as many as I've had over the years, you can easily pick up on that signature Epiphone tone.

    There’s a thing about the Boogies circuit that the treble affects the gain directly. Try to decrease the treble while you’re on the crunch mode and you get a cleaner crunch. Try to play with the treble and the gain knobs together while you search for a certain level of gain in the other channel/modes as well. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻Sorry about my English, I’m Brazilian.

    Is use 12-56 for B standard and have little to no issues on a Gibson scale. A little intonation adjustment and it’s totally fine. Those gauges you chose for drop B seem pretty excessive unless you have a very heavy hand. I prefer to not destroy my fretting hand.

    • @xajlalondex
      @xajlalondex 10 месяцев назад

      I do indeed have a heavy picking hand. Which is why I stated in the video it’s personal preference but every recommendation I say… give or take a gauge for your own taste🤘🏻 12-56 in drop B would be good for a Gibson scale if you like looser tension with a good set up but I’d still definitely recommend 12-62s in B standard on a Gibson & personally wouldn’t tune lower than that.

    Interesting, tbh I’ve always used a 10-46 for standard/drop D/Eb etc. and the 11-48 for drop C down to drop A# I’ve always just preferred thinner strings overall. I did try going for heavier strings earlier in my playing but it just didn’t feel right to me. I don’t even play lead that much, I’m more of a rhythm player. (Btw my guitars are around 25.5)

    • @xajlalondex
      @xajlalondex 10 месяцев назад

      I definitely don’t recommend 11-48s for drop A# lol give those 12-62s a try for drop B to A on a 25.5. It feels perfect. Or atleast 12-56s. I can guarantee that using 11-48s in drop C even is way to loose for tension let alone drop A#.

    • @lordhumungus712
      @lordhumungus712 10 месяцев назад

      I used 12-52 with the wound G for a while. They had great sustain and handled the lower tunings fine but overall it was just more difficult to play and left my fingers wrecked after an extended session. I went back to 10-52 and even if things are a little floppy for drop C, they sounded great and were SO much easier to play.

    • @xajlalondex
      @xajlalondex 9 месяцев назад

      Yes lighter strings are easier to play but the tuning and intonation is way off. Drop C or lower using 10-52s is way too loose. Every pick strike hits sharp I can 100% tell you that. For drop C I’d recommend 11-54s

      Then I’m almost positive your intonation is off. Especially if you’re using a Gibson scale. Turn on a tuner…. Hit an open C chord. I’m positive it’s hitting sharp as heck at the pick attack. Once you start recording with that & your bass is perfectly tuned, the tuning and intonation will stick out like a sore thumb. I highly recommend trying at least 11-54 or 12-56 for drop C. 56s for Gibson & 54s for 25.5🤘🏻
