I immediately hear the difference. An epiphone has an annoying sound they all have common. The only Epiphone I own that I actually didn't mind the sound but i wasn't in love with but that was the Epiphone AFD. To me the tone sounds bleached out, shallow and glassy sounding . I watched a blind test between an Epiphone Les Paul versus a vintage v100 . I laid the phone down and didn't even watch the video and I knew immediately which one was the Epiphone. If you own as many as I've had over the years, you can easily pick up on that signature Epiphone tone.

A little, but it's just the pickups being different. Put the same pickups on both and they'll sound identical.

The cleans on this thing are great. From cleans to high gain boosted it’s awesome. The price is decent also but on the higher end for size.

What up dude! Boogies are initially kinda hard to dial in, but once you do, BOOM. Wish you weren’t in Canada, for a little more I could have sold you a 35. The Mark V extreme I believe was actually the JP2C which is why there was no Mark VI. And yeah I hate when you have a foot switch that does half of what you need lol. But yeah all you need to know really is EQ a V shape and rock on lol

There’s a thing about the Boogies circuit that the treble affects the gain directly. Try to decrease the treble while you’re on the crunch mode and you get a cleaner crunch. Try to play with the treble and the gain knobs together while you search for a certain level of gain in the other channel/modes as well. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻Sorry about my English, I’m Brazilian.

I use Burly Slinky 11-52 for C# standard on a 24.75 scale. There is plenty of tension. Comfortable to play.

I decided to pull the plug on one, it'll be here friday. I'm really excited to try it after the awesome 59 Epiphone I had. If it's just on par with that one, but able to do heavy a bit better, I'll be happy.

I’ve gone entirely with custom stringjoy packs for my drop tuned guitars Drop F# 27” 7 string 12-80 Drop GFA#D#GC 27” 6 string 12-74 Drop BF#BF#BE 25.5” 6 string 11-62 Drop C 25.5” 6 string 11-54 Drop D 25.5” 6 string 11-52 There’s a few interesting tunings in there that might give away the bands I like to play (wage war, erra, and muse) But those heavy gauge strings take it like a champ and are perfect. Has strengthened my fingers quite a bit as well! Only adjustments I had to make were filing the nuts, no tuners had to be drilled. All guitars ESP or Manson for reference

I was using 10-52 for drop C. On a normal 25.5. Now I use 10-46 or 48. I feel it has a better feel and makes palm muting feel smoother for me

Is use 12-56 for B standard and have little to no issues on a Gibson scale. A little intonation adjustment and it’s totally fine. Those gauges you chose for drop B seem pretty excessive unless you have a very heavy hand. I prefer to not destroy my fretting hand.

Interesting, tbh I’ve always used a 10-46 for standard/drop D/Eb etc. and the 11-48 for drop C down to drop A# I’ve always just preferred thinner strings overall. I did try going for heavier strings earlier in my playing but it just didn’t feel right to me. I don’t even play lead that much, I’m more of a rhythm player. (Btw my guitars are around 25.5)

12-62 for drop B? holy those are some CABLES bro... i used 11-56 when i used to tune to drop B. nowadays i prefer drop C# and use standard 10-46

This was super informative and just what I was looking for! Been going back and forth with whether I want to mess around with different string gauges or avoid all that with a drop pedal since I play around with a lot of different tunings on a single guitar and don't want to constantly retune my strings into noodles. Thanks so much for your awesome insight. Both of those guitars are gorgeous and sound wicked!

this is how a Perfect Headstock should be made just glad that since about 3 years ago EPI is been truly growing in me so much now i adore EPIS almost as much as i adore GIBSON i own basically this Guitar but on Black version for both EPI & GIB screams pure Gothic Doommetal for me
