November Update #2
As we roll into the 2nd week of November, we find ourselves with colder temperatures and no snow to speak of. Without at least a foot of snow on the ground travel is very difficult, so getting to the post office will be challenging if not down right impossible.
Across the frozen sloughs and creeks and rivers travel is easy...it's when you hit cross overs through the trees that it get's rough and can damage snow machine skis and tracks, plus destroy a Jet Sled.

Well as we slid into the month of November we are pleased with the nice lake that our neighborhood beavers created for us. Grooming trail will be much easier this year and we were due for an easier winter.

This video is a little late. We're struggling to keep pace with the ever changing weather and the fact, if it can break, it will. Especially if you do not have a replacement part or the ability to obtain a replacement part. But, in spite of it all, preparations for a cold, dark, long winter continue.

This is the third posting of this video. Battles with copyright issues, storms, crashed computers, seemingly all happening at once! Kinda makes you want to just give up! But I'm not the "Give Up" type. Especially when we are in the right!!
Race against time! - Oct Update #4

We've run out of time prepping for winter. Below zero temps and icing on the river has brought everything to a halt. Now we wait for jam up and frozen ground. No way to go anywhere until nature does it's thing.

With me restricted to what I can and can not do, Dylan offered to come out for a few days to help with chores. I am slowly recovering, but that recovery will not come before the snow flies.

Left alone deep in the Alaskan bush - Sept Update #3

I watched as they took Jed away that Saturday. Standing on the bank gazing down river as the rescue boat sped away, I wondered if I'd ever see him alive again. At that point, no one believed he would live long enough to make it to Fairbanks and the medical help he needed. All chores were now on me
Heart Attack deep in the Alaskan Bush

September 14 at 9:30 am I suffered a massive heart attack. It took 7 hours before I entered the cath lab at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. I was not expected to live that long. Everyone standing by was expecting me to arrive D.O.A. but my Heavenly Father was watching over me. I am far from recovered and there are cath lab visits still to come.

With Michelle's many trips through the Alaskan wilderness she decided to build a sleeping cot for inside her pickup truck. And that cot came in handy when she made her final trip of the year and had to camp overnight before boarding the river taxi for home.

Thanks for sharing :) careful around those beaver ponds, Nice when you find a place with lots of wood I just cut & stack & by the time I'm done cutting usually I have lots of room to drive the skidoo right to the piles :) I love the winter wood cutting too, not to hot & no bugs lol, I cut this year so I'm ready for next year 🙂,
We learned a while back...cut and stack and haul later.
Too cold for me, but I admire your willingness to brave the weather and live in the bush.
Thank you very much for the view and the comment.
i remember those days!! now the only wood i cut as for next years maple syrup at my age wood pellets work great
What I'd give to have a huge pile of pallets...thanks for the comment.
that dog just kept slapping her in the head /face so funny I watch it several times lol
Thanks for watching. And Tikaani doesn't realize just how big and heavy he is...he's the type if you're not going to play, then let me climb into your lap and you can rock me.
You guys have way too much fun!
Good video.
Thanks for the visit
How do you know the ice is safe?
Easy! If you don't fall through then it's thick enough. But, we carry an axe and when it looks a little iffy..we use the axe to chip away at it. If the blade sinks into the ice, then it's unsafe.
Yeah, I wanna see that shelter once its built.....
You have a trail to Manley or do you take the river?
Trail in the winter...river during the summer. We've got our fingers crossed for a river winter trail this year...much faster than overland...
you trap beaver
Yes we do....but not this year. Way to many other projects to contend with.
Nice meadow for sure :) the beaver will help drown a few trees then you will have wood for another year 👍, A little more snow & you will be able to get a nice trail put in :) Take care stay warm"
That's the plan! Yeah we have a lot of beaver downed birch and an entire forest of dead standing spruce. We'll start on trails tomorrow...you take care
Nice video !
man if it wasnt for bad luck you wouldnt have any!!! hope it gets better for ya
Thanks for watching. Yeah, there's never a dull moment for sure. But, it does help keep me on my toes.
Informative video. How many acres do you have?
12 acres and we'll be adding 12 additional acres adjacent to us in a few months. But, we're surrounded by 5,000 acres of state wilderness.
Glad I found you guys.
Thank you Roger for watching
Great video!
Thanks for the visit
Beautiful with the sun on the river :) Jed maybe a longer piece of flat iron that you can bolt in the two holes that are there to get back a little more then a bigger hole at the end :) when I broke mine I welded a heavy piece in, Take care stay warm"
Thats the plan. Right now my big generator is down so I can't use my welder...but, I do have nuts and bolts! You take care
Prayers you can get things fixed and take you both ☺️.
Thank you!
@AlaskaBushLiving , you're very welcome 🤗.
Beautiful views! Things always break when you least expect it. Hope you two have a good week.
Thank you! You have a great week too! Went out to groom trail and the 4-wheeler almost didn't get us back!! Fuel filter clogged. It's so fun out here!!
@AlaskaBushLiving LOL it happens! Stay safe and have fun!
👍👍
Thank you so much for sharing your world
You are so welcome. Thank you for watching
This is a super AWESOME channel, however the videos are way too short. I'd love to sub if you upload longer videos. From South Africa goodluck 🌍🇿🇦💌🙏👍
Hi Kim, rest assured longer videos are coming. Thanks so much for watching
Easy to cut some poles and make rollers to slide the boats on.
Jed You & Michelle Have that same fluffy stuff we got yesterday couple inches & a little more today ! But here too it's suppose to be warmer in a couple days so I can finish my little projects & clean up :) Just a few more boards & I'll Have my siding done for this year, Hope your doing well & ready to hunker down for winter, Take care up there"
You take care as well! We both have brutal winters headed towards us. I'm trying to get as much done as fast as I can without over doing it....
👍👍 Thanks for sharing
Thank you too!
I sure am glad Jed is doing ok. In this episode, the two of you are holding some sort of certificate. What is it?
The certificate is the patent to our land. Though over the years Michelle and I have owned other properties in and around Fairbanks those properties were nothing compared to our new home.
You ever have any Sasquatch activity?
No! But we've heard tales!
Hi Michelle, thanks for showing us around. The dogs sure like each other. I think your trailer will take some scrubbing. Tell the old guy I said hi and watch his health. Take care.
Thanks John. Jed is improving and wants to know how you're doing. We're taking it slow, one day at a time.
Ok, you have a couple dogs you love. Great. What makes you think we want to watch them. You have a good start to a solid RUclips channel. Enough with the dogs.
Hey Mike. This was one of those I'm out with the cell phone just playing around at making a video type things. Don't care one way or the other if anyone wants to watch them. Jed's the one that serious about videos...I just play at it! But thanks for watching and thanks for the comment.
I enjoy these longer videos, great update though! Beautiful country!
Thank you
do you ever see bear you`ll seem not to worry about anything
All the time. But it's mostly black bears and by the time we know they're there, and start the camera, they're gone. We have gotten a few on camera though
So Happy All is Well❤🙏
God Bless You All For Helping 🙏❤️😊
Hi 👋😊 Jed & Michelle
Hi SEA-U2. Thanks for watching.
Beaver tastes like roast beef in the slow cooker. Nice fur too.
Love BBQ beaver....slow cooked for about 8 hrs on the grill.
Hello Jed and Michelle, good to see you Jed, up and moving around, I assume you are feeling better. Nice seeing you both out doing a walk about. Ya'll take it easy.
Yes! Thank you John. I am beginning to mend. Michelle says "hi" and to tell you she's keeping me "in line"!!!
Hey guy's that's pretty exciting when you get a mail delivery ! High water bad low water bad when you rely on the river, Nice when you can go & get some wood prepped to move at a later time 👍, Glad your taking it easy :) I'm sure that young man was happy to come & help for a few days Take care stay healthy 🙏
Hope you recover soon.
Thank you.
@@AlaskaBushLiving Welcome!
WOW! Bad place to have a heart attack. Get well soon.
No kidding! It was intense there for a while
@@AlaskaBushLiving Ya you are Right!
Sorry to hear this.
Prayers that you are back to normal soon.
Get well soon.
Hi Jed and Michelle, I did the same thing with my floor as well. Your project is coming along nicely. Thanks for sharing.
Hey John. Well, with all the restrictions placed on me by my doctor things are moving slow but I'm getting there. Hope you're feeling better.
👍
hello from MAINE👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Well hello Maine. Welcome and thanks for the comment and view.
Nice sharing, my friend 👍
Thanks for watching
Good job Michelle ! We all keep learning as we go :) 👍Just being careful & thing about the "what if " Hope Jed getting a little rest & good to hear you have people that will come to give a hand ❤ You two take care
He is definitely taking things slower now even though he is not at all happy about it! Thanks for your kind words!
Hello Michelle, I hope Jed is doing better. It's a good thing you have each other to take on responsibilities to get some chores done. Any idea how long Jed has to rest? He will be missed doing his thing. Take care
Thanks John, he is doing much better but still under physical restrictions for at least a few more weeks.
I'm up and moving around but far from being back to normal. It'll just take time.
Wishing you guys good health. You sure are a determined couple. Good luck!
Thank-you so much! Determination is an important part of this lifestyle. :)
Take care🙏
For sure!
