I'm Kit, just an average person who wants to help you find the joy in running, cycling and just being outside.
When I was young, I never thought I was a 'sporty' person, I was more 'creative'. But, at some point, I realised that those things aren't mutually exclusive. It was just a story I was telling myself.
I want to help you make space for yourself in the great outdoors, and discover the joy in adventuring, bounding about the trails, and taking the time to see how far you can go.

Oh the folly! Trail running in the Lake District in a storm
I was all set to go cycling in the Lake District National Park but then I, like the rest of the country, got BERTED. So I went running and you can hear how I go from 'yay running!' to 'Oh no' in a frankly remarkable amount of time.

Did 6 miles in 48 minutes 😂
Niiiice!
It is worth it. Just do it. 😂😂🎉 Take a Snickers bar, 🎉😂 never give up.🎉
Snickers 😂 good shout, they do definitely raise the spirits!
HaHaHaha... The jeweller, the watch, the "oh it looks really nice" and the end of my bank account - was with my Rolex - fully understand!!!! ... and about 6 months after I bought my insanely expensive Rolex, I went into a sport shop and was interested in a chest strap to measure my pulse during my workouts. So the lady turned around and said to me: Oh, these days we have sports watches that will do that for you.. are you like doing outdoor sports at all? Maybe you should consider looking into one of these.. that was my journey into my 1st Garmin (7 yrs ago..) I'm on my 4th Garmin now - wouldn't want to do it without.. I still have my Rolex in my safe.. 😂
Jewellers are dangerous places! I never realised before I went 😂
Love your accent, and you're very witty and natural. I just started running 🙂
Thanks and congrats on starting running 😁 enjoy the good, the bad and the ugly out there on your runs!
Such a strength....telling it as it is! We've all been there. On a beautiful day I did a ride from Yelverton to Tavistock on to Gunnislake and back via Callington. I'd heard something vaguely on the radio (no mobiles then!) about gales. To be fair the wind was picking up and I managed to get blown off the road on Tamar bridge. As you say another adventure! Thanks again:)
Oh wow! I bet that was pretty scary. When I was a child I was cycling across the Severn Bridge in strong wind and it was... memorable! It's all a good story though :-D Thanks for watching!
You just reminded me to see Tony's lakelandcam. It's still there, beautiful shots each day.
Ooo, I'll have to check that out!
Well done for trying! Totally agree even 30 mins out there is great and makes it worth the effort of getting out!
Running in general 🤣
😆
Great advice Kit, i need to get out more on mine.... and get off Zwift 😅😂
Love coming across smaller channels, especially when they are already making good content
Thanks so much! Really happy to have you here :-D
My local trails. The ride out from the carpark is brutal. Twrch climb is the hardest but has an easier downhill. Cafall is less brutal going up but has more technical and steeper descents. Lots of off piste stuff around if you want more dh/tech riding
I saw so much off piste stuff I couldn't believe it - a little...erm... beyond me I think right now.
@kitpascoe the off piste stuff is good but really more suitable for enduro (150mm+ travel bikes). Glad you enjoyed our little part of the world
My problem is I can’t stop cycling. I’ve got an addiction 😂
Okay I'll make a video for you soon 😂
I know I'm just someone who rides a bike for all sorts of things like going to work and shopping and socialising and averaging about 100 km per week so in the eyes of most people who consider themselves "cyclists", I'm not an actual real cyclist. Just someone who rides a bike. And yes, one of them is "e" powered. I would say to someone who hasn't ridden a bike for years or decades to not buy any gear yet. I don't own any "gear" myself apart from a helmet. Get your bike working as described and start off riding to meet friends or to work or whatever. If it's a halfway practical bike, put a rack on the back and get some cheap panniers from Amazon or AliExpress. Being able to carry more than an energy bar and a drink on your bike gives it a lot more reasons to get used. Get your bike legs back and if you are still feeling incentivised, then you can splash out the big bucks on all of the gear if you want to be a roadie. Or a cyclist as they like to say themselves. Just offering a not a cyclists point of view on this. Otherwise absolutely cast iron sensible advice from the always entertaining and informative Ms. Pascoe.
Haven't biked in 3 weeks 😭
“Getting out on the bike - that’s the criteria.” (3:17) I feel it only right to remind you that last month you put me on “official typo-spotting duties.” Well, I’m nothing if not thorough, so I’m assuming aural typos to be within my remit … *criterion 😅 😘
Haha nooo I can't correct aural ones. While true, I don't want to sound too pedantic though so I think I'd entertain criteria over criterion regardless. Nice to see you're on duty though, keep up the good work!
Nice video, it was nice at the start when you acknowledged that sometimes we focus on other things and take a break from the current things we are doing. Enjoyed this 😊
Thanks so much! I have to remind myself all the time that different things have different priority levels at different times of life, it's too easy to feel like if you haven't done xyz for a while then you'll never do it again.
@ I’m not even a cyclist but would love to get back into it but probably more mountain biking or gravel biking. Loving the content in the meantime 😃
I used to ride in my early 20s. I didn't see myself as a cyclist back then as I rode now and again. After about 25 I pretty much stopped cycling entirely. 20 years later finally bought a bike during COVID and haven't stopped cycling since. And I am now a cyclist :)
Nice cycling! Can you share which bike rental company did you rent your bike? Thanks
Yup, they're called Bike Island Mallorca. Really friendly bunch too.
I didn’t know you could get there by bike 😊
Yup! First I wheeled my bike over there from the car park but then I realised there was actually a bridleway that went right past!
Yep with cycling it’s not all roses, although being able to get out there come whatever weather or terrain is a gift I appreciate every time…even when hills are shocking, or I escape a near miss…I reflect on each bike ride what I’m able to do. Kitiara your video’s are refreshing, give a balanced view of highs and lows of cycling, with everything in between and more importantly with some humour thrown in.
Thanks so much for the support :-) It is a gift to be able to get out there no matter what and finding even the tiny bits of joy in tough rides.
I was told the toughest part of Lejog is Cornwall and Devon, lots of short, sharp climbs....
I've heard the same thing and sometimes I think that I wouldn't want to do lejog just because of Cornwall and Devon, even though it's where I live and ride all the time!
Some mucky lanes out there. That's why I like indoor riding in the winter. No bike cleaning 😂😂
True! The worst part about autumn bike cleaning is that all you want to do is get inside and be warm but you have to clean your bike in the cold first. Ugh.
Hi Kitiara, well I'm enjoying your ride and chat! I was doing a teacher training degree at Marjons (Plymouth) in the late 70s and trained and raced a lot in this area. My training partner was Ivor Earl who did a lot of triathlons and took me over a lot of climbs as he was relatively compact and light whereas I was 6' 4" and 13 stone! A training ride that we used to do was from the Marsh Mills roundabout along the B roads towards Exeter then through and off back on the A38!! Imagine that now! Anyway I love your rides and delivery. Thank you and keep up the great work!
Haha wow, I cannot imagine the A38 being quiet enough to ride on! Sounds like a great time you had riding here :-D
Welcome to Cornwall! I live in the area where you cycled in this video, and 20% hills are common. You can't cycle anywhere without lots of hills around here.
Ooof, yeah I cycled down a 20-something% hill in Devon recently and had to take actual breaks going down because it was so hard to keep braking.
@kitpascoe there are a few of them around here.
love your videos
If you think that's bad, try riding northwest Georgia and SE Tennessee here in the states. Nothing but rollers and everything is uphill no matter which direction you ride.
No wind - perfect day for a cycle.
Days like that can really suck and they can often seem to happen for no particular reason. And yeah, offensively hilly is about right, combined with bad roads and a windy day Cornwall can really make you question your choices as a cyclist. Good job it's such a beautiful place! By the way the latest episode of The Sky at Night has a segment on the Goodaver stone circle (about four miles NW of the hurlers), really fascinating
Haha, I certainly was questioning my choices as a cyclist, that's for sure. The landscape was the only thing that kept me going. Thanks for the Sky at Night rec, I'll check it out!
That was such an interesting episode! Also, when I grow up I want to be a galactic archeologist. What a job.
I’d never heard of the Hurlers. Looked it up on my OS Historical map of Ancient Britain and it’s just about visible, sort of ENE of Berry Castle, right? Bronze Age apparently, c.2300-800BC (although English Heritage say it could be late Neolithic (c.3000-2300BC). 🤔 I’ll be testing you on this later.
Does seem to be hedged at 'late Neolithic/early Bronze Age', maybe the further you go back the wider the date range of accuracy gets 😁. I was actually heading to Trethevy Quoit because a) 'quoit' is a hands-down great word and b) who doesn't love a capstone? But the hills beat me on this occasion.
@ Indeed, who doesn’t? Earlier this year I stumbled (figuratively) upon Arthur’s Stone in Herefordshire and its cap stone got me thinking that if he’d put it there himself, Arthur was a much bigger man than he’s portrayed in all those Camelot movies.
@@steveh9428 😂
I think you have just invented a new pain phrase..."offensively hilly"!
It happens. I tend to remind myself that even a shit bike ride is better than sitting at home twiddling my thumbs. I had a severe sense-of-humour failure for hour or so during this year's Dunwich Dynamo and only snapped myself out of it by reminding myself that I could have been at home asleep in bed - and where's the fun in that?
Totally agree, sometimes the only way through is to remind yourself that at least you're out there and out there is better than not out there most of the time.
Do you use any other sensors or purely just the watch?
Just my watch and then the navigation on my phone. I don't have any need right now to know power output etc so I've never bothered with anything else.
@ is the trusty Garmin still holding up?
@@jamesmc0716 Yup, I still use it for everything 😀
@ appreciate the reply I really enjoyed the video on the watch and the other content I’ve watched so far
@jamesmc0716 I'm really glad it was useful and thanks, really happy to have such a great community here.
Thank you for sharing, been there and still going through that sort of a day all month long
It's so tough, eh? I hope you get some good days soon.
Need to try some of the forest of dean trails like the Verderers Trail. Probably easier than Twrch but great fun, some good descents. Can be busy at weekends though. I have heard some of the Welsh mtb centres might be closing (coed y brenin) due to funding problems ?
Oooo, thanks for the tip, I've never been to the Forest of Dean. Maybe I'll try it on a week day sometime. I haven't heard about trail centres on the brink of closure, that would be really sad, they're such great initiatives.
Ridden that hill - many, many times - and yes it is tough. (but also rewarding).
Kitiara you are a real inspiration.. love your videos, traveling Gibraltar to Okehampton next hope to hire a bike and try some of the Dartmoor Way.. after enjoying seeing you ride it. ❤
Thanks :-D Ah amazing, enjoy Dartmoor!
Looked dangerous and annoying but beautiful but I'm glad it was you and not me 🎉❤
Cwmcarn’s best song was Bette Davis Eyes … What? 👀
Pretty sure the village and trails are named after her after she retired there leaving Nashville in the dust. If you pause on the trails and listen on a windless day you can hear her singing as she potters about the kitchen...
(CWM) pronounced coooommmm lol
😂 honestly it's a miracle I got the last half of the word right.
Oh awesome! I live just a couple of miles from cwmcarn. Great place isn't it?! I feel incredibly blessed living here. Welcome!
It's SO great! What a place to live. I ate at Tiny Rebel Brewery and that was such a great spot too!
Listening to the audio of this as I walk Ted(the border) but visualising every pedal through your description ❤
Haha that must've been an interesting listen given all the goat interludes!
@kitpascoe always interesting listening 🎧😍
Hi did you park a car in Portsmouth? We plan to do this (on street parking) and follow your route in April this year.
Yup, I booked a JustPark space, so someone's private driveway. It felt a little more comfortable than leaving it on the street. It was about £40 for the week I think but I can't quite remember.
You are the GOAT!! 🙂 At this point not even Andrew Feather can pull in these views, and I think you could hang with that guy on the hills too, it always seems impossible until someone does it. 🙂
Great trip! I cycled around Normandy this summer and had a lovely time.
It's such a beautiful place!
What a view that is of the Lighthouse as you round the corner 👍 Thanks for sharing...
Great video for annoying the kids with "We've been there!" and "And there!" 🤣🤣 Nice easy going video 👍
Lovely place to be. I live here on the south of the island. Enjoy the ride and let´s go for a ride. Ther´s a lot of hidden places. All my best wishes. 💫
pithy...what a great word!! Thumbs up for commentary and scenery
Doing it on a electric moped is not cycling
That ride makes me want to be there, you picked a great time of year Kitiara, 26 deg C which is bliss, and superb 360 degree canvas of scenery to take in as you cycle. This is why cycling is so great, it allows you to appreciate and absorb the surroundings, whilst exercising to fuel your soul.
I bet you English never get tired of the Tundra! Here is vastly open but many weeds or Forrest 🙄
