A Labor Nurse’s Advice on Preparing Clients for Birth
Have you heard of someone’s jaw doing what the pelvis. My jaw and pelvis sacrum are not aligned. It’s ruining my life 😢
I’m 10 months post partum and I am still fighting for my quality of life. I had a posterior traumatic birth. Fell on my bottom a yr before. I also have a jaw issue. I assume they are connected. It’s making my whole system malfunction from brain to spine. Idk what to do I’ve been to 16 chiros. 5 physical therapists. Pelvic floor specialists. I have intense nerve sensations. Like a pulling thru my whole spine if I walk. My jaw does what my pelvis does. My sacrum feels so crooked. Left sided pull to my tailbone. I’m in Utah. I can’t travel. 😢my kids need their mom. Do you have any suggestions or anyone in Utah 😢😢😢
Please don’t give up. I’m glad you found me. Here is my directory.instituteforbirthhealing.com and see if there is someone who’s trained with me. If not go to my FB group Institute for Birth Healing community and ask to join that and ask there for someone. Not all of my students have been put into the directory. I am also going there to teach next year I believe so at some point there will be more people from Utah trained. Best of luck to you and keep pursuing support.
Can sacrum misalignments cause full body especially feet tingling blood flow issues.
Hi Lynn. I am feeling so overwhelmed and desperate. I am hoping you can provide some guidance for me. My daughter was born in March 2023. I have had pain in my groin that shoots down my inner thighs since mid pregnancy. I did PT for 2 months for a misdiagnosis of "athletic pubalgia", and just started pelvic floor PT who misdiagnosed me with "pelvic floor spasm". I have had no relief. The results of my recent MRI show: - mild pubic diastases (10mm) with moderate reactive/degenerative changes of the symphysis disc and adjacent pubic bones - mild partial tearing of superior pubic ligament - osteitis pubis -mild reactive marrow changes within the pubic bones I have been referred to pelvic floor specialists in the city I am trying for baby number 2 but am wondering what this diagnosis means for a second pregnancy and birth. Will I be able to hold a 2nd pregnancy? How bad could my pain get? Do I need surgery? Could I get better with the right pelvic floor therapy? Could improvements happen while pregnant? What should I do?😢 Thank you so much in advance. I appreciate you.
Please check my directory and see someone I’ve trained as they’ll have a different approach than most PTs. Directory.instituteforbirthhealing.com. Try my closing the pelvic bones exercise if it doesn’t cause pain and if it does then try the opposite direction. It’s a longer hold which can help bring the bones back together and take some strain off the sp joint. Also the book Relieving Pelvic Pain during and after pregnancy might be helpful for you. I can’t answer your questions without really knowing what is going on. It all depends. Sorry I can’t be specific as I would t want to mislead you. Good luck.
Can any of this pull on the spine or tailbone ? I can’t figure out what’s wrong with me
So timely, Lynn. I haven’t had an appointment with you in many years and I’m 9.5 years postpartum twin labored cesarean delivery and my scar has started bothering me again. I’ve been revisiting your scar massage posts and working to mobilize again. I wonder if menopause can trigger adhesions and changes in the scar tissue? I’ve been struggling with a wonky hip and am also wondering if the scar is at play. Keep posting videos because there are mamas like me who continue to listen ❤
Morgan, YES! In menopause, our estrogen levels start dropping, which makes the tissues more stiff, causing more pulling on the tissues. The scar tissue may be at play with your hip. Come on in and let us address it all!

Hello! Thankyou for this! My sister has a diastasis after having had twins! I will definitely show her this! I have a question : Diane Lee talks about a summit in april where she will be sharing her findings about treating the diastasis as if it were a tendinopathy, and how they have trained women for 3 years. I would love to know more about that, where could I find this online? Thankyou so much!
At the bottom of this page. I believe Diane was in the 2022 Summit, where she spoke of this. instituteforbirthhealing.com/all-courses/
How long after birth are you doing this?
If you are having symptoms do it until symptoms resolve if this helps decrease pain. If not just do it once a day for a couple of days if you are shortly after birth. If it's been years do it longer. The length of when to stop is undetermined.
Can I just say thank you. I have been having pains since I gave birth to my two children and I was getting concerned with the last being nine months. My husband helped me with this exercise once and the pain has disappeared. I can lie on my back now and do my chores like a normal person. Your video is a blessing.
Thanks for sharing. I'm so happy it helped you. Please consider seeing one of the practitioners in my directory to get more support with your body after birth. It's so needed! Directory.instituteforbirthhealing.com. Take care.
I love your case studies❤ the cohort was super helpful to nudge me go through the full course systemsticalxy

Hi Lynn! I am 2 weeks postpartum. My OBGYN noticed right after delivering my baby that my cervix has descended slightly. In the last couple of days I’ve started having pain in my pubic bones, I guess it’s called “symphysis”. So what can I do to help the pain go away and to help my cervix go back to its place instead of causing bigger prolapse that I am really scared of. Thank you!
This is so simple and so needed. Very well explained, thank you so much🎉🎉🎉
Hello doctor… Hope you are doing grea I need your advice… I had my C-section 1.5 year back. From that day only I have pain on my right hand scar line and nearby area… I don’t have any pain on left side… I have consulted with many doctors and done ultrasound also… everything is okay in reports… doctors say it’s muscle pain…. I’m worried because why the pain is in specific area… only on right side of scar line( I can even feel that right side scar area is not smooth like left side) even on slightly touching it pains… can you advise me something?? Am I overthinking?? It’s just muscle pain ?? Thankyou in advance 🙏
Was your experience traumatic for you? It could be a trauma response in your body holding pain in that area, it could also be a nerve got trapped with the suturing too. Neither of these two show up on testing. If massaging the area doesn't make it feel better i would encourage you to work with a therapist to process the trauma from your tissues. Good luck!
@@instituteforbirthhealing-l520thanku so much for your response. Yeah it was traumatic actually I planned for normal delivery but at last moment it was C- section and after C-section my condition was so bad that I was not able to walk… I begged them to send my baby to my room but they refused saying it’s covid policy (in 2023 ).. they told me you can only meet baby when you can walk to her… In trying to walk I fainted thrice and failed… 😞 I met my baby after 1.5 days….
@@instituteforbirthhealing-l520yesterday I tried all the massage steps and today I felt increase in pain… is it normal in beginning??
@@SG-er9zo I'm so sorry to hear this! Yes you could use some help with the trauma you experienced. I offer virtual sessions you can book at CenterforBirthHealing.com and reach out to me there to schedule something or find a trauma therapists in your area and work on the trauma you experienced and I bet the pain will subside. Good luck!
I use my glutes to tuck pelvis in forward position by squeezing . Do or don't have I to use glutes for this
Don't worry about tucking your pelvis, keep it neutral pubic bone and front of pelvic bones all in same plane and use gluts to push yourself forward.
great podcast Lynn, I just shared some of this info and it was very well received
Thanks for sharing!! Appreciate your comment!
Hi Lynn, I just had fibroid surgery via an 18cm c section incision, the incision is slightly higher than the usual bikini cut and I've been so upset because I have a really prominent shelf and dent. My scar feels very tight and thick beneath the surface. Im only 2 weeks post op but I'm starting to feel so scared that this has changed my stomach forever. I had a lack of confidence due to my enlarged uterus with the fibroids and now I feel like it's been replaced by this shelf. I don't even have a baby to show for it. I'm quite slim so It looks even worse to me to have this bulge above my scar. I just tried a dress on which is a style i've always liked and worn and it was so obvious under the dress I started to cry, will I never be able to wear that style again? The thing I was looking forward to after surgery was regaining some confidence. I didnt expect this 😞 Could you please help me? I noticed this video is quite old so I hope you're still doing this kind of work. I live in the UK. Maria 11:25
Please look up Jenny Burrell and see if she has someone she’s trained in scar tissue massage. The way the surgeon sews up the fascia is what creates the self. You just need to massage it and see what you can do. Good luck!!
Your passion for the subject shines through in every video. It's inspiring to see someone who genuinely loves what they do.
Ive just started doing this exercise and have immediately seen some improvement after 1-1/2 years of hip/back/pelvic/sciatica pain! It started during my 3rd pregnancy. Is this something you could do during pregnancy? Or is there another exercise you would recommend to ease pain during?!
You can do this during pregnancy too! So glad you are finding relief with this! Please see one of my practitioners at directory.instituteforbirth healing.com. Good luck.
This is amazing love this collab! I’ve breastfed 5 babies now for over a year each! The low estrogen is SO REAL. I’m on topical estrogen now nursing my 5th! With a prolapse.
Amazing conversation - thank you both for your work. Definitely inspired to revisit my copy of Wild Feminine more often!

What is the best/safest time to start with this massage after c-section?
I'd wait for the uterus to shrink back down and then you can do it if it doesn't cause pain and you avoid the incision site. Once the incision site is well healed then you can do this to that area as well. Good luck!

Great info!
Hello mam, i have a question,,,, I am pregnant of 30th week twins pregnancy, There is white and clear vaginal discharge. It does not smell. This is happening since last few days.... Is it normal or not???
Very interesting
So glad I found this video. Hope its not too late for me. Had my C section 8 years ago and 2 previous myomectomies so Im sure my scar tissue is numerous as my lower back pain has got worse over the years
How many days it take
Try it daily for a week and see if your symptoms get better. If you stop doing this and the symptoms return start doing it again. Good lucK!
Love your nice and important conversation❤️ I also remember your interview with Antony from years ago, it was so respectfull and nice even though you had some different perspectives also😁
My wife has 26 weeks twins pregnancy... Why she is feeling sometimes ITCHING on leg, stomach, hand almost whole body? Should we worry about this or not?
Please have her talk to her medical provider. Yes this is something that should be addressed. Good luck!
Yes. So important.
So how do you cue to lengthen pelvic floor and push, without using the word bearing down?
So interesting, thank you for the talk. I teach prenatal yoga and recently I’ve had a talk with a physiotherapist about pelvic floor and breath. I asked if this is ok to tech women during pregnancy to relax pelvic floor muscles with exhalation. She said no. Exhale only goes with the contraction. So what do you think? As far as I got, you say about lengthening the pelvic floor which is relaxing. Am I right? So the opposite way it works when we recover the pelvic floor muscles after birth.
I am a pelvic PT. You are correct you would not be wanting to contract pf but lengthen
the poop that comes out also has an important role - to inoculate the babies colon with mothers bacteria, perfectly adjusted to their home enviroment
my wife feels discomfort sleeping on left side but comfortable on right side. She has twins.. any suggestions mam??
Sorry to hear she is having difficulty. I can’t really say what is going on. There are so many factors. Have her talk to her provider to see if right side laying is ok.
This video saved my life and a trip to the ER. I just had my second child via c section a week and a half ago. When I was released from the hospital and was at home for the first four days, I literally felt like I was drowning anytime I drank any water/liquid and could not catch my breath the whole day. My breathing was even worse at night. It made me feel panicked the whole time and like I was trapped in my own body. I felt so desperate to know what was going on beside a panic inducing list of a lung embolism symptoms. Finding this video was so relieving because i had no idead your organs may need some extra help to drop down after making room for the baby for a long time. I massaged my torso as described and felt a lot better in the following hours. Then the next day, I could finally breath at full capacity again. I was literally going to go to the ER if this massage technique did not work (this was just my discretion, please go to the ER if you’re having a medical emergency). Thank you so much for this video!!
nice video
So insightful, thank you! I've had two c-sections 7 and 4 years ago and I have a literal bulge right above the scar and a lot of adhesion. I can't pinch my scar and roll it like you've shown in the video, but I will keep trying this and hope it'll do some good after all these years! :)
I hear/feel a pop around the sacrum when I squeeze in, then the pain goes away. I do this 1-2 times a day and feels great. Haven’t yet found a way to keep the pelvic bones closed. Male, 35, accident! Thank You 🙏
You may have a trauma response in your body. Getting some therapy can help with that. IF it was a bad accident your body may be stuck in that moment in time. That needs to be addressed for the bones to settle fully. Good luck.
These tips are fantastic! I've also been using Less Than a Day for postpartum relief, and it's been a real blessing. Definitely worth considering!
Barbara O'Neil suggested making a homemade suppository with castor oil. You make it into a mold the size of a pinky finger. Must freeze for several days before using. --Stephanie White
Doctor my wife uses castor oil packs to shrink her adhesion. Please look into this if you haven't already.
Thanks for this vidio.i know some one that is dealing with this in oct.2023
How is she recovering? I gave birth in July 2022 and experienced this. I’m happy to say I a fully recovered, but it was a long process. I received months of physical therapy and Prolotherapy injections (which helped tremendously).
I just tried you’re walking exercise and then I walked the way I normally walk and I realize when I do my walking, and I walk every day I don’t work any of my muscles. When I tried you’re walking I’m using my muscles thank you very much.
Hi your video is so helpful 😊 I experience urine urgency whenever I lay down and have to go like even after 10 mins, could this be related to scar tissue ? But while standing I can go longer without having to run for washroom breaks
It’s possible. Massage away and see what happens!
Hi, Lynn. You are such a wealth of knowledge! Through my multiple births, I’m generally pretty comfortable except for a time during transition where I can literally feel my lower back moving out of the baby’s way. This has felt like my back is truly breaking. Is there a way I can prepare for birth (30 weeks now) to help make this spinal adjustment less painful? Much appreciated!
Yes! Get the pelvic floor muscles to relax and lengthen as best as possible and avoid sitting on your tailbone. Stay on your sits bones at a 90-degree angle to avoid your tailbone. This is the thing that comes to mind. Good luck!!
@@instituteforbirthhealing-l520 Thank you so much!
