Thanks John very informative 👍 AAA
The first words I was able to hear was "This is the final step to doing it by yourself." wow. That was really helpful...LOL... but, thank you for the effort anyway. It's appreciated.
Sorry for the bad audio. Frist video amd forgot to take my phone out of the protective case. Try to listen with headphones. It has worked for others. Clear skies and tight lines my friend.
Thank you John. You clear up a myth for me. Love the little tip at the end to get last little bit of air out of the helm.
Your very welcome my friend.
Hi John How do I connect the hose to the valve on both ends? Do I need some type of extra part at the end of the hose or just attach hose directly to the valve? What size hose you are using? Thanks
Hi Trung, No need for an extra part. Just use a hose that fits snugly on the drain valves.
Thanks....Happy Boating!!!
Can't hear
I was just thinking the same thing!
Sorry for the bad audio guys. First video. Try using headphones, it has worked for other.
Great video John! Thanks for the hot tips legend!
Thank you. Your welcome Gavin.
Excellent video. You're a natural instructor. Trying this on my house boat this afternoon.
Thank you for taking the time to do this video. I really appreciate it as I'm sure many other do to. Phill.
Phillip Himebaugh You are very welcome Phillip. Happy boating!
How to centre the boat hydraulic steering
Gavarska Sufara My boat already had the steering system installed all I did was change the o-rings and alignment. I never had to center the system. I'm sure you can find other great videos out there for that. Happy boating!
Do you mean how to get the steering wheel straight? Well, you can't, it will always slide one direction or another.
Great video thanks for sharing. Recently i notice when i turn at high speed the steering wheel skip. I am thinking something wrong with the fluid. Its an old boat so probably old owner never changed it. Thanks again for sharing and saving me money.
Thank you. I learned a lot. I was wondering why I wasn't getting anything out from the bleed valves. I didn't know I had to use a wrench to open and close them as you showed. I guess that's why they're called valves! I just never saw "the handle" to turn them on and off.
+Mac Townsend No problem Mac, your welcome. Good luck and happy boating!
I need to refill my hydrolic oil do I have to do the bleed processes like you did?
Richard C Hello Richard, yes I would recommend you do so. Now having said that, I would definitely fix the leak (if there is one) and then refill and go through the air bleed steps. Remember where oil can get out, air can get it. So basically you would be bleeding the system but also allowing air back in to it *that is if you have a leak*. Good luck and happy boating!!
Hi John, I ended up topping off the hydraulic oil. I didn't bleed it. I slowly put some oil in, turned the wheel all the way left and all the way right, added more and did that until it was full. So far, it works fine. I haven't seen a leak yet. Thanks again for the video.
You are a good teacher. Nice video.
Thanks, great Video!
Much appreciated! Excellent tips!
Great video John; thanks a lot!
Peter Hudgin Thanks, your welcome Peter.
thank you john
Kevin Harding Your welcome.
nice video
Jose Garcia Thank you
john, great video, could you do a follow up explaining how you rigged up the bottles and lines? I wasn't sure what parts or hoses you are using or where you got them from. Thanks
John Walsh Hey John, That's a good Idea! Thanks. In the meantime, the hoses can be purchased at Home Depot, a hobby store or at an aquarium store. Just make sure the diameter will fit snug on the purge valves. The bottle I used was a hair die bottle I found at home (I think it was my wife's, uupps, LOL) because it has a application tip that screws on to it and that makes it very easy to transfer the fluid back into the steering unit. You can find this bottle at Walmart, a Pharmacy or just look just look in your wife's beauty products.... Lol. Hope this helps. Have fun on the water!
Do you know what size NPT goes into the helm and the cap for the bottle? I think it's 1/4" but not 100%. Great video by the way!
J Santa On mine the NPT is 5/16. It came with the seal kit that I purchased. It may be different on ours. Call the manufacturer. You don't want to mess up those threads.
Awesome man! Thanks for the information.
Mike Dupree your very welcome!
Nice video . I'm about to bleed my system and was wondering what kind of fluid you were using / the stuff from sea star is really expensive . thx , Ron
Jangles Benson Thanks Ron, I hope it's helpful. The fuild that I used is from sea star, it came with the seal kit. Hope you are successful bleeding your system. Happy Boating!
