In Loving Memory - Mikala Jones
Mikala Jones was an Hawaiian born surfer that lived a life most of us only dream of. He was on an endless search to find perfect waves around the world.
He recently passed away in Indonesia after severing his femal artorey in a surfing accident at the wave Icelands, in the Mentawai Islands.
A loving husband and proud father, Mikala's legacy is one of humility and graciousness. He had a smile that would beam radiance into anyone's life and loved to adventure into far off lands chasing perfect surf.
He was 44.

That wave of the bridge its name its crash boat and after hurricane maria most of bridges got destroyed and sand moved a she disappeared almost completely
I am heavier bigger guy too, I think us taller built guys really can drive a board hard and get speed up fast. But we pay on smaller days where normal guys get ok rides but we don't. Not saying this out of arrogance just noticed and most pros are smaller guys actualy.

It’s the Atlantic to the north Caribbean to the south. Yeah hurricanes do produce some good surf but it’s the storms off the northeast of the US that gets the north shore pumping.

EVERY SINGLE WAVE IN SLOW MOTION GETS OLD . A surfer wants to see it in real time also, especially the drop to get a better sense of the wave. But what a beautiful place

Great video. Not being super quick to my feet I’ve dreamed of days in conditions like this but in smaller and more manageable conditions on a egg or longboard. Maybe someday the stars will align for me on a trip to a uncrowded place like this.

Absolutely while half the world was locked down they were travelling.
Good video but you absolutely kooked it on the waves. There are so many good waves in raro. I go there every year. The wave you are surfing is called socials and is just one wave of the many there. You should have checked out out front if the edge water. Both left and rights slabing barrels with a couple turn sections. Also Rutaki passage is amazing. World class. I’ve surfed Hawaii, Bali, New Zealand Australia and Rarotonga is definitely up there with world class waves.
There are way better breaks on the island shame you guys didn't get the opportunity to surf them .

It's not exactly a secret spot and if by watching this video someone decides they want to travel and have an adventure for themselves, wouldn't that be awesome for them, good for local businesses and the economy? Most people probably don't want to chase waves like this but love watching it. There's no names getting thrown around either so apologies if you think were not being respectful, it's not the vibe were trying to send. Hopefully you guys are doing OK through this Covid virus and it's all good mana on the islands!
