We cater to individuals who (like us a decade ago) desire to jump into the full-time RV lifestyle. At age 75+, we have been full-time RVing since 2013. Jude was a money coach. D.A. was a mental health professional. We've had two Class A coaches: a 31’ Mirada by Coachmen, and now a 40’ Tiffin Allegro Bus.
After a few years of crossing the country in the summer and spending winters at Lake Havasu, in 2018 we started a fish guiding business, HavasuNetEm.com. So now November through mid-May, you'll find us at Havasu Springs Resort, while in the other months, you’ll find us anywhere other than Arizona!

Our channel is all about our experiences being full-time RVers since 2013, and roaming the country, which led to a seasonal guided fishing business on Lake Havasu in 2018. If we had to do it all again, we wouldn't change a thing!

This is a talk D.A. gave this week at the Mohave County Library, Lake Havasu City, for Anglers United. He donated a free half-day trip for two to A.U. to raffle off. This was an opportunity for D.A. to give back to the local fishing community, and you can see he enjoyed doing it! Here's a link to the "cheat sheet" of items D.A. discussed in his talk. Most of these will be available at Bass Tack...

From Smoke to Serenity: Our Florence Adventure
South Dakota has always been a scam to artificially pump up the population to gain additional representation in Congress for the tiny full-time South Dakota community. They do NOT want you to actually VOTE there (especially if you lean left). They just need you for the census head count. The mail forwarding businesses aren't much better. They can be fantastic one day and completely ignore you the next because they know a customer sitting in Arizona isn't going come in and file a complaint. You are always better off using a real address of trusted relatives or friends. Stay away from the pirates feeding off the nomadic movement.
AWESOME vid - vehicle insurance is the big stickler for domicile in another state in my view - since insurance insists on knowing where the vehicle is "garaged." thanks
Thanks for watching!! Good luck in your travels!!!
And P.S. Progressive continues to drop messages into my email about giving them another chance. I will get a quote from them at renewal. From others I've talked to, Progressive and National General (Allstate) are at the top of their lists for full-timers.
@@RVersLife I just pulled a "reverse domicile" - I just made up that term. I own land that I want to camp on permanently. But of course the county tries to micromanage land. So I looked up my street address on googlemaps even though I don't have a county assigned street address. Then I just got a new DMV in my own state for my new street address as my new "permanent domicile." My own state has sued people for leaving this state and declaring SD domicile - even though they no longer had any residence in this state. But typically a DMV conflates "permanent residence" with "permanent domicile." For example my state also has a residency affidavit that requires a person to visit their "permanent residence" once a month. But a "permanent domicile" - the term used for the DMV address change in the statute - is based on the "intention" to make it where you permanent reside. This is why a homeless person still have "permanent domicile" even though the cops would designate a person as "transient" on their database if the person has no street address - despite "permanent domicile" not being "transient." I will leave you with this quote from a legal paper to specify my claim: "Fixed does not necessarily mean a real-property connection to a state, but it means more than a transient connection." So now I am curious what the county will do since I have pulled no structure permit but technically a residence requires occupying a "principal structure" and even a garage permit implies it is an accessory to a future "residential dwelling." But by changing my DMV address then I have triggered the automatic county auditor voting registration - so the county will mail out a voting notice to my street address even though it has no assigned county street address and thus no mailbox!! hahahaha. But legally I am a citizen who can vote based on my domicile and NOT my residency!! So the county auditor office also houses the county assessor - will I then get a "special assessment" investigation? hmmm. Inquiring minds want to know. Meanwhile I do have a street address for where I will "garage" my car in the future if and when I do make a permanent campsite residence. How can I legally be poor and camp on my land? Well I have to do a "short-term" residence. As you know the RV Shuffle means kicking out RVers at six months so they do not get the "six months and a day" primary residence tenancy. In my case I would simply evict myself from my land for a day every month!! Therefore my "rural vacant" tax assessment would not be violated since it does not allow any "temporary residence." Camping for a month or less is not temporary but rather "short-term." I should clarify that I sold my land to my LLC - so technically I can evict myself. I did also make up a lease from my LLC to myself. And I signed it as Lessor as representing my LLC and Lessee as myself. My dad was also the former Chief Deputy Officer for the state AG here and he wrote the procedural manual for the AG office back in 1968! He also did legal work for the county where I bought land. hahaha.
Which state would you recommend to domicile and why? We were actually thinking about SD. We are retired.
Here's a link to the latest info on S.D. The rule was repealed, but just the idea the legislators are trying to make it more difficult for full-timers to vote would keep me from registering there again. We are grandfathered, so if S.D. seems the place for you, do it right away, and you'll likely be grandfathered too. The three top picks are SD, TX, FL (no state tax) but also look at how much it costs to register a new-to-you vehicle: SD is 4%, TX is 6.25%, FL is 6%. It can be significant. If you search for mail forwarding services in each state, their websites will state the advantages of domiciling in their state so you can compare. southdakotasearchlight.com/briefs/state-senate-votes-to-ditch-30-day-residency-requirement-for-voter-registration/ Good luck!
Wow! That’s awesome.
HaHa, FreeBirdUSA, That was exactly our reaction the first time we got a "settlement" email showing our savings!!
Good to know. 👍👍👍
Thanks FreeBirdUSA! Our 5-year warranty just expired in December. It was definitely not a good investment, but if you're not able to divert savings monthly to have an emergency account for maintenance and repairs, it's better to have too much than too little, right?
Awsome presentation, very helpful. Do you have recommendations regarding fishing using down riggers. I mainly fish Kokanee Salmon and use down riggers on my boat. Headed your way later this week and just want to show up ready to go. Thanks
Hi Rick - Stripers are not lure wary, line wary, but they are motor wary. Downriggers are inherently close to the motor. Downriggers would be effective if you had a 100 foot drop-back leader. Recommend using Leadcore to achieve your depth and distance away from the motor. I use Suffix 18 pound on a 6500 C3 Ambassador with eight colors of Leadcore. Good luck - maybe we'll see you out there!!
@@judegilford5853 I'm Chris, not Rick but I have been called worse. Because there is no weight on the line besides the lure I can control the depth with my electric downrigger. I always do a minimum of a 100' setback when I'm trolling and try to use my electric trolling motor for as long as the batteries allow then I go to my 9.9 HP kicker. Kokanee are very motor shy so I am familiar with this type of fishing. I have this existing setup because of the type of fishing I currently do. I just want to use it on our trip to Havasu next week because I'm able to dial the depth in with the downrigger without needing to change the setback. I set the distance from the boat connected to the downrigger and dropped the depth I wanted to fish. If I see fish deeper I lower the downrigger etc. Hope to see you on the water. Any location tips to start with would be awesome. Should be on the water on the 14th.
@@chrislatorre3875 Chris, So sorry about calling you the wrong name!! Have you been here before? I ask because there's tons of trees and bushes - beware!! We're on the southern end at Havasu Springs.
Happy New Year 🎆
Thanks and Happy New Year to you too!!
What you know as Planet Ranch Road used to be a State Highway. It used to go through to Parker until the BLM took out the levy as an excuse to close the road. There are a plethora of old mines lining this road and a slot canyon that can be accessed from the South. Many years ago, while dirt bike riding, I was stopped by a BLM Officer and told they were closing it to limit access to the public.
Yes, Shannon! I've been a volunteer for the wildlife refuge the whole time we've been wintering at Havasu Springs, so I've had the opportunity to see a lot of it. Ranches and mines and there are wells back there they still monitor. We once planted 4,000 cottonwoods in Mineral Wash - you get there by following Shea Road all the way to the end. I'll bet you've been out there - it is so beautiful. Thanks for your comment!
what knot do you use lead core to leader
Ok, I use a #10 pro swivel and attach lead core and leader with an improved clinch knot.
when you use finger gauze for anchovies does it lesson the bite?
Hi Richard - No, it reduces the cost of anchovies because they can't be cast off or stolen. Good luck! -D.A.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge !
Thank you, Rick, our pleasure sharing this!!
Nice, friendly, really appreciate the report as a Havasu fisherman
Thanks, Ed. He posts regularly on our HavasuNetEm Facebook page - there's a link in the description - but we hoped a monthly report here would be helpful too. See ya' out there!!
Many times we've said, "What the heck are we doing?!" Never have we even considered, "Enough!"
Welcome to our front yard!! The Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge is one of the most beautiful spots in all of AZ! Let me know if you agree...
Cool
Thanks Donald!!
I wish that I could convince my dad to downsize! I've told him time and time again - all the belongings he's squirreled away and leaves behind instead of using, enjoying, loving, and/or selling his things to go play and enjoy his retirement will be sold and the money will be donated to his most hated charity!!
I applaud that you tried! It's such a tough subject.
Sorry, we neglected to include a link for the jighead. It's a 3/4 oz Squadron Jighead from Strikeking. Goodness, I just realized some words got lost in editing! The first one that caught my ear should have been: RVs have a lifespan of 10 to 15 years, but it didn't come out like that. Sorry!! -Jude
Here's to your good health. Let's keep being the best we can be!! -Jude
While this is about membership with CRA, all camping memberships are basically the same, so you can use this as a guide for knowing what questions to ask! Hope to hear your experiences with camping memberships. Also, I discovered an error! The monthly price at Havasu Springs for winter stays is $600 (not $700 or $800). Sorry for the error!! -Jude
How heavy line do you use
I use 15 lb. test flurocarbon leader on 40 lb braid joined with an Alberto knot. Let me know how it works for you!! -D.A.
I know there are cheaper options, but for us, Starlink made all the difference!
Hi - In "My Free Offer" I mentioned I would be happy to host a Zoom call every two weeks to help through the organizational process. But this isn't only if you purchase a Nokbox. If you want help with downsizing, or any other aspect of organizing or reorganizing (full-time RVer or not), you are invited. Let's meet where we are and see if we can get where we want to go together!
We said we have five tips, but we actually have FOUR. Sorry for the confusion. We're adding time stamps to the video description for your easy reference. Thanks for watching!!
oh no! I've never seen checking skins on maintenance lists, thanks for sharing
Agreed - neither had we!!
Great information!
Thanks for watching!!
We learned a lot in Oregon this summer... less likelihood of wildfire west of the I-5, and how much we love their scenic coast! Have you stayed at the Port of Siuslaw before - any tips for us?
Yikes! This is a mish-mash of our Kokanee fishing adventures and you'd never get the idea D.A. had a REALLY GOOD season!! The "learning curve" on RUclips is nothing if not daunting. Ha ha.
FREE Resource (no strings attached) that can make your journey better!!
I said we narrowed our options to three parks, but we probably looked at 20! It's so much eaiser when you're looking in person!!
I'm so proud of him! I've been dealing with a pesky 3-6 pounds myself this summer and it's been much easier staying on track when he is inspiring me like this!! Jude
What a beautiful view from the VRBO, and those blue appliances are just dreamy! We visited Crater Lake in 2022 and adored Oregon, but didn't make it out to the coast.
Hi USS.Overlander! So sorry I'm just seeing this. I spent my first 56 years in San Francisco, so I've pretty much avoided waking up to gloomy days on the coast, but - much to my surprise - it didn't bother me a bit!! Now, I'm in love with it again! Ha ha. Yes, a trip to the Oregon coast is in order for all us RVers. (Ditto for northern California & Washington state.)
what was the most intimidating part of going full time for you?
Hi USS.Overlander! It was not knowing what we didn't know. Things kept coming up - and we didn't have a clue. Now there are so many great resources online.
Thanks for sharing the experiences and resources! How long have y'all been full time?
Hi! Since 2013. You?
@@RVersLife We aren't full time, but we've had our RV for almost a year and a half, and our longest trip so far was 7 weeks.
Can you run this on a 100 watt jackery
1000 watt
@@kathleensimpson9193 Yes, we believe so, but here's an email for technical questions: service-mufga@outlook.com - Good luck with this. I am loving having veggies growing in my rig!!
"and maybe those pants will be on fire" 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks, USS.Overlander!!
This is all great info! We purchased a used 2022 Thor Freedom Elite (22HE - Class C) in Spring '23 that had only 3500 miles on it - just enough for the prior owner to work out all the factory flaws. He'd had several issues (like the gas heater being loosely installed) handled at the dealership, and made some QOL improvements like adding a trailer brake and installing a Nautilus shower door, and we purchased it for what he owed on it.
What a great find for you!! Do you mind a couple of questions: How long did it take you to find this deal? Did you pay cash? If not, which lender financed for you? This is great info; thanks so much for sharing!!
P.S. I subscribed to your channel - it's great. See 'ya out there!!
@@RVersLife it was actually the first RV we looked at in person! We had only been looking a few weeks. We financed through a local credit union at just under 8%, with a 20% down payment at 6 years. The seller was highly motivated, their family attempted to downsize to our 24' unit and quickly realized that "sleeps 6" didn't really mean "three adults and three high schoolers".
@@USS.Overlander Such a good point. Use a credit union; not a bank. Even though I was a money coach and have been a member of a credit union for 50 years (!!!), I didn't think to mention it. I'm pinning this comment. Thanks again!
@@RVersLife this compared to NFCU, which only offered a "personal loan with collateral" at FIFTEEN PERCENT!!!
YT says: We wanna see your cool coach!
Yes, we'll do that! Thanks!!
