Kings Peak: Tallest Mountain in Utah // Trail Running
Просмотров 2 тыс.Год назад
Subscribe! This past weekend we drove over to the Henrys Fork Trailhead for Kings Peak, the tallest mountain in Utah at 13,528 feet. Most people backpack this route in 2-3 days, but we wanted to knock it out in one go. The views, wildflowers, and rivers were stunning. It ended up being my longest run ever at 27.5 miles. Powder Day in the Backcountry // Utah Backcountry Skiing
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.Год назад
Subscribe! Its been about two months since we've skied avalanche terrain as we've been dealing with a big persistent weak layer problem after the immense early season snowfall we had. Now that things are more stable, we went and skied Gobblers Knob, a prominent peak on the border between Millcreek Canyon and Big Cottonwood Canyon. I stare at this peak all the time, and though I've summited it i...

Subscribe! The fall colors have been amazing in Utah this season. One ride I've been doing a lot is riding up Millcreek Canyon on my gravel bike, here in Salt Lake City, and riding down the Pipeline Trail. I've been loving my Canyon Grizl so much, I've put about 1500 miles on it since I got it in June! Enjoy the lovely colors :) Instagram: macleanwright Twitter: maclea...
Bikepacking 70 Miles in Idaho, A Real Sufferfest // Gravel Biking
Просмотров 12 тыс.2 года назад
Subscribe! The four of us headed up to Idaho over the 4th of July weekend to do the Thunder in Paradise loop. The route is 100 miles and 11,000 feet split into three days. We certainly underestimated the effect that the heat and 15-20 lbs on our bikes would have. The first day was absolutely brutal. The second day was a lot better but we ended up bailing on the route do to a rain threat, and be...

In total it was just about 19 miles and 4500 feet of climbing! Strava of this activity: www.strava.com/activities/6956555823 Instagram: ...

Alta Backcountry Powder Day // Utah Backcountry Skiing

I’ve noticed many backcountry skiers are fast uphill but technically poor downhill skiers 🤷🏼♂️
Sssshhhhh, don't tell anyone
Snowplowing?
You gotta go faster thats not skiing
Pfannerstill Meadow
You’re reminding me how I need to brush up on tree riding. I went snowboarding at Jay last winter, hadn’t done glades in years and realized how rusty I am! 😅 Great spot though! Do you skin up the same trail you go down?
Wow that looks beautiful!!!! 🤩
Glad to see another video from you! Love the above tree line mountain views!!!
Good to see you back! Nice vid! May need a belt like that.
Clark Maria Brown Ruth Jones Shirley
Those are names
Its funny these videos make it look like 30 degrees max. But i just hiked that shit last week and i can confirm that is like 45+ degree.
Haha totally!
I have skied Tucks many times but never in the winter. It looks like it could turn into a death slide very quickly. I helped carry a very badly injured skier up there in 1992, he fell over Chicken Rocks. Great video.
Thanks! Hope they were okay
If the BCC back country has just become a bunch of tracked out crud, why even bother?
True!
Super fun video man! Gave me a chuckle about Mill D. Was good to see Spruces burried and people hiking up to Tom's and short swing. It's so hot right now, can't wait for November...
Thank you!!
Tucks will let you know real quick just how good or bad a skier you are! Excellent footage on a crusty day!
Haha totally
@@MacLeanWright The last time I was there was way back around '78 or so. Still had 207 racing skis, and making turns on the steep stuff demanded one hell of a jump to get the tails to clear the slope! Would love to get there again with my 158 Head E-SL racing skis, but at my age now, I wouldn't eve survive the trip up to Hojos!
Gotta keep that elbow in while your casting man! Great video!
For sure!
That rock looks so amazing, crazy, wild! I am headed out there myself in a couple of weeks - my first time climbing there., can’t wait! Thanks for posting this video so I can see what to expect.
Have fun!
I did this route 2 years ago. Its a good one, definitely has some tough climbs.
Totally, lots of climbing!
We went up in December and ended up just doing Sherburne’s Trail. We wanted to do Hillman’s Highway and the snow fields. Weather wasn’t horrible, but no visibility into the ravine at all so we just snowboarded down Sherb’s.
Nice job!!
What's a guy who doesn't know what rocker is doing making a gear inventory video? 🤔
Cause they let anyone upload a video here regardless if you know what rocker is! Lol
love the video. I'm new to Wastach backcountry, from Vermont and watching to learn some safe areas to skin/ski.
Thank you!
Hi! Nice video! I’m not from the US and I want to go to cottonwood area for backcountry. Is there any “guide” app or videos to know better the area before being there? Whit some trails info and that stuff. Ty!
Yeah there's a great guidebook that you can get its called "Backcountry Ski & Snowboard Routes Utah" by Jared Hargrave
Oh my. This may have just convinced me to move to Utah
Haha. I feel that
Thanks. I work at Solitude and am looking for info on great back country ski routes in BCC
Thank you!
You should check out moment skis. They're made here in Reno and are really nice. They have a touring line, awesome graphics, light and I like supporting an American company.
Great idea! Thank you
damn bro you got some big ass legs
Looks like a great day out - and not too many people out and about. Quick question: at the beginning, in addition to doing your avy beacon check, were you also measuring the weight of your pack? If so, why? For the walk in comfort factor, or also for the actual climb up /skiing itself?
Just weighing the pack for fun 😊
He'll No
Haha
I'm going there tomorrow this just got me hella stoked!
Enjoy!!
Is the parking pretty straight forward on 242?
Y'all must be in tremendous shape.
Well - trying to! haha
How is screen touch working when gloves get wet?
It works great, the moisture conducts the "touch" feature
Sick! I've skied some of these runs this season, love it.
Awesome! Thanks for watching
Would you happen to have the Gpx or Strava map file you could share?
Sure thing, it's in the description. Message me on IG if you have any questions!
@@MacLeanWright thank you
Your camera angle is killing me!!!!
ghost mode
Tuckermans locked down? WTF!! If you are able to hike 3 miles upto the ravine...... YOU'RE NOT SICK!!
Crazy times!
Pipeline ❤️
Love it
❤🗻🔥
Thanks
Awesome job guys!
Thanks so much!
Why do you say the camelbak with the insulated tube doesn’t work for backcountry? I’ve been using that at resorts on my western trips for about 10 years without issue.
That’s just my experience in the backcountry, but I’m glad it works for you!
thanks legend!
Thank you!
wow! great work! can't wait to see you rip more of the wasatch with your SO!
You and me both! Haha
Great vid! You really know all the good lines!
Thanks! Haha
It’s awesome 😍❤️👍👍
Thank you!!
MacLean is killing me here--powder fever is hitting strong.
Haha totally agree!
Awesome video!
Thanks!
Gnarly
Thanks
9 hours. That’s quick. Great video.
Thanks! It felt like a slog on the last few miles
You guys car camp at the trailhead or nearby? Heading up there this weekend
Yeah nearby, like a 5 min drive to the trailhead
hes back!
Back in action
Dude, what an awesome time! Looks like my kind of type 2 fun! One of these days, I'd love to run this same route. Looking to backpack it with my dad and brothers next year too!
Oh, and congrats on your longest trail run! Totally EPIC!
Thanks dude!! Appreciate it. It’s a fun route, lots of water to filter along the way
