Between the cost of silicone, a gallon of 2-part resin, and other materials, roughly $200. However, from that gallon of resin, I was able to cast 4-5 helmets. Also, this method was borrowed from another maker on Etsy. He made a tutorial where he mentioned that from one of his existing molds, he had already pulled some 70 casts from it already and the silicone was still holding up. Definitely something to look into if you’re wanting to make a ton of carbon copies fast.

They’re lamp bases with RBG bulbs. I basically glued lampshades to the inside of them.

nvm....just looked at th pic again. didn't realize it was a lamp on the desk. thought it was wall mounted.

​@@marawanharraz2310I ​first sprayed it with sandable filler primer, then sanded with 320 grit sandpaper a couple of times. Then I sprayed one last time but sanded with 600 grit. Most of the layer lines were gone by then. As I added additional layers of paint, most of the remaining lines seemed disappear. I also sprayed this model with a couple of coats of matte finish clear coat at the very end which is what I believe made it come out as smooth as it did.

No worries. In Cura, make sure that the infill pattern for your model is set to "grid". Also, make sure that the infill percentage is set to 20%. Finally, as long as you're printing all of the parts vertically, the empty space for you to insert the metal rods should be there.

Sure thing! So when I loaded the individual sections of the sword into Cura, they were auto-scaled to 10000% of their original size.

I’m glad that you liked the project. I did actually consider using a higher viscosity liquid. There are fish tank-cooled PCs that contain Mineral Oil. Mineral oil is odorless, completely clear, and non-conductive. By the sounds of it, if you’re planning on running wiring to the facehugger to make it animated, the non-conductive property would make mineral oil a great choice.

@@MARKDUBS.3DPRINTING there will be just a link to a servo that will move randomly (powered by arduino) and will act as air pump also. The facehugger will be articulated and it will shake with servo fast moves. I want to keep it simple ! :) Thanks for your advice on mineral oil. Will look at that for sure ! Keep up the good work.
