Spoonie Sunday Special on Self Advocacy- 2023
What an incredible episode! Thank you so much for all of your thoughtful commentary, for sharing your own experiences, and for your wonderful support of RIPPLE EFFECTS and Fanbase Press!
@@barbrajdillon thank you so much for sharing Ripple Effects with our show! And we are so glad you enjoyed the discussion!
Thank you so much! Many Blessings to everyone apart of this production and my fellow Zebra EDS and greater community of NORD Warriors 🙏🦓 💛
I understand that when I had them I couldn't sleep . I would pray that they go away and leave me alone. I would beg for them to go away.
I’m so sorry you went through this Beth. I hope Mike’s story gives you some comfort in knowing you’re not alone and he said- and you 😊, it gets better
Me too because I am semiparalyzed. Totally understand.
💯 not alone- a community of spoons 🥄🤗🤗🤗
I loose words the same way, Christina.
Thank you, I needed that virtual hug. It’s amazing the experiences we share with different disabilities and disorders- I keep learning more and more how much we are a community 🤗
Thank goodness we aren't alone anymore.

Our family is in this film. We are so thrilled that this topic of living with EDS and the risk of medical kidnapping for our families is being discussed.
Bless you for your courage to share your important story! I have EDS myself (post op right now but trying to get the interview up asap). If you have an interest in sharing your experience being a part of the film and your hopes for the future of the community- please email me @ christinabrookman@speakinginspoons.com We are hoping to share those discussions in a future season closer to release of the film- I leave that entirety up to Andrew. Sending you spoons! Christina

My philosophy exactly.
Focus on the positive makes you feel better.
I love Patch Adams
This idea is God sent .
This is amazing!! I love this!!!
So glad you enjoyed. Definitely learn more about Izzy and Wish Come True Co on our site, they really are doing such important work! www.speakinginspoons.com/copy-of-s3e4-cerebral-palsy
Exactly what I think. Just ask the questions if you want to know . Actually what he is doing the DLCV does these things.
Similar. Although Mathew is very active in lobbying for laws on behalf of people with disabilities and dlCV has to stay more neutral publicly. He also consults with business on accessibility. So similarly and both helping the disabled community, just in different ways 😊
Thankyou, Matthew. I met him years ago at something. I would love to know more about what he does. I would love to use my extroverted self to help others in this way.

Christina , I started out as friends first.
I just loved listening to George’s story. He is such an inspiration of how God has worked in his life to give him purpose and hope. ❤️
So glad it spoke to you. We loved talking to George and hearing his story, he has just a wonderful positive spirit 😊
Great episode!!!
So glad you enjoyed!!! Check them out, they are doing great things 😊 Let us know if there is anything you’d like to see in future episodes at www.speakinginspoons.com
'promosm'
Write that book! ❤
She went to Georgetown Law!!! GO GIRL!!!
She did all this in the 80's. She was such break through person.
Oh gosh, I remember those PC's. I had a note taker too , som professors would give me theirs. She is is such a inspiration!!! She is SO cool. I could never do business, my father did.
There was a guy on the same hall as me when I was in the hospital when my accident happened. He had the same kind of accident from diving too deep. He had a halo too .I was the only female too for 3mths. after I woke up from my coma. He was very angry about that. She speaks the almost same scenario as minee, except mine was in the 90's Tell her thankyou for sharing.
We will definitely pass that on, it will mean a lot to her
Ever grateful for Jon's advocacy and support!
We were so excited to have him on- such a wealth of knowledge and genuine concern for others, it’s contagious
I love to here him speak. He knows so much that gets looked over. Where does he speak, where can I hear more.
You can learn more about Jon and get the links to his websites on our page for him! www.speakinginspoons.com/copy-of-s2e5-working-and-disability
This guy sounds like so many of us with a traumatic brain injury.
There are a lot of neurological symptoms with connective tissue disorders, it’s amazing when we find similarities like that!
Yes, I never got to start my dream and show the world what I can give back.😂
So so true! Things can’t change soon enough so much suffering behind these appointments and medical treatments, absolutely tragic ! Hopeful to see compassionate and intelligent treatment to patients.
So glad this episode spoke to you! We are mighty in numbers :)
So many illnesses overlap too, it is hard for Dr s to discover these things .A Dr helped me find my immunodeficiency. There are Dr's out there, but because of legal and insurance companies saying where they can and cannot go and how much time to take a d just trying to full fill a percentage this happens.
I was called a hypochondriac too. I hate going to the doctor so much.
its a shame so many people with chronic illness are called that when they are only looking for answers. hugs
We love board games too. If that applies.
I am borrowing that joke about the Corona beer and virus.
I like it, actually thought it was funny too.
I love your conversation, that is the best!! The way you guys are bouncing back and forth.
We have been having a lot of fun, been good friends for years so glad it shows!
Like my mother, it's not fare but at least your not dead.sShe has had, so many car accidents.
Please tell the DLCV if a place isn't accessible.
And polling places that you go to vote at.
Do they know how MS starts in a person.
He sounds like he is alot like me with his TOOLBOX. I do the same thing in way.
I can't sleep much without a sleeping pill, but they say it's because of my TBI.
I have taken the sleep test I snore, but I don't have to have a C-pap. My mother doesn't sweat much, and my grandmother did sweat either.
I understand! Miss you
You need him on weekly!
He is guest co hosting tomorrow's episode about assisted living and nursing homes with Carol Driskill from dlCV!
Yes, Christina! I have had those accommodations in college!!!!
Stubbornness, yes!!!! Yes, I hate the ER. He and my parents know. I am so happy for you, Christina! Finally!!!!
This was a fantastic interview!
Thank you! We had so much fun with JC, and he gave us a lot to think about 😊
I appreciate your humor and your vulnerability! The last part was great, I always struggle with not feeling like I have a purpose! ❤
Thank you, that means a great deal! I’ve struggled with purpose for a while. The podcast has helped, connecting with people and also my fur babies. You have so much purpose within you just being you 🤗 sending spoons! 🥄🥄🥄
