Long Way to the Top

This is Long Way to the Top with Shayne Brian. In the words of the immortal ACDC, "it is harder than it looks". These interviews will give you a glimpse into the lives of the artists that we have sung along with, danced and rocked out to. Some go deep into their past and others celebrate their recent releases, but all of them show that regardless of who you are…it is always a long way to the Top.
This series was developed off the back of both The Bad Boys Podcasts and the wonderful chats I have had with artists on LAFM. Some are brand new and some are resurrected interviews from the archives.
Even now, after countless interviews, I still get a nervous excitement in chatting with my guests, and I hope that will never change because it is that admiration for their music that I want you to experience as you embark on your journey with them on their long way to the top.

My guest on the show today is Aussie rock guitarist Ronnie Simmons who has had an incredible career, working with Richie Ramone from The Ramones, Faster Pussycat and is currently touring with Rose Tattoo. Ronnie also has a new band, The Redback Spiders and a brand new single.
The Redback Spiders are influenced by classic punk and Australian pub rock with a tinge of ska. When playing live Ronnie is joined by bandmates Hayden McGoogan and Sean Anderson on guitar, Tommy Hills on bass and Chip Scanu on drums. Post two live performances in Sydney they were immediately signed to Suburban Records based in the Netherlands.

Good one! Always nice to hear a new Joe interview. I met him once at a guitar center signing and he was amazing. I was the only one there with a chrome JS10th guitar, so he spent a little extra time with me chatting about it, and the Ibanez reps took a bunch of photos of it and us together. He signed the back of the headstock for me.
He is hilarious and what a great guy to chat with.
Yeah, this guy seems to know nothing about the only record he seems interested in. The songs are way more concerned with human mortality, evolution, health, and age than anything otherworldly, if one had to pick a theme that spans multiple songs. The obligatory breakup related song, the standard song about someone suddenly getting blue hair, the typical song about daydreaming while going downtown, and cork-sniffing culture. That's just off the top of my head. Do your research, dude.
Fair point. I was given 15 minutes to chat and had to go with the most well known song/album given that was the focus of the tour. But yes totally appreciate your comments. If you check out the other videos I do spend a lot more time getting deeper into their stories.
@@longwaytothetoppodcast It was good stuff man! Check out the album, for real though, each song is fun or funny in it's own way. Anybody that can work the word "phalanges" into a song is good in my book. Brad totally wails on guitar too, though it's Adrian Belew on the first track.

I lived in London in the 80s and met Dave on Carnaby Street back in July 1986 and he hooked me up with their manager to get a press pass to photograph them in the pit at their 10th Anniversary Tea Party!! Yeah, a bunch of my photos made it into the book "the Light at the End of the Tunnel"!! I made a video of it if anyone is interested!
