Hi. You mentioned that your Sailor was your only gold nib. But I have a question; isn’t your Pilot 74 a gold nib pen? I agree with you, by the way. This is such an expensive hobby! I’ve only been at it for three months, but I’ve already spend a fortune.

Beautiful selections! I love the Kyo No Oto inks as well. They are unique in how they look on paper and their tendency to be drier works well with wet writers. Can I ask what is the pen you are dipping at the end of the video? It writes beautifully.

I can tell you that Fuliwen and especially Hero are long-established Chinese companies. I'm suspect that Hero inherited the equipment and likely expertise from pre-1948 factories. For instance, Wing Sung (?) seems to have gotten the Parker assets. I believe that Lanxivi is a distributor; but Chinese corporations have relationships and histories that we Westerners would think murky rather than transparent. Be that as it may, some of my best pens -- EDC and deluxe -- are from China. ... I find modern Indian flex nibs challenging. They work, but demand expertise and patience. Good for a thank-you note, but frustrating for a weekly letter to loved ones. I should take another look at Noodlers. BTW, during BBC Proms season, my attention is rather focused on music; but your video made for a nice change of pace. Thanks!

I felt the same way about Crochet. It was a hobby that turned into business, along with making videos on YT and posting on Instagram. I got really burnt out with it all and not only gave up my business, but don't crochet as a hobby anymore. I only recently started enjoying Fountain pens, but I want to learn from my crochet experience and not get overwhelmed by it and burn out. I'm just doing my thing and enjoy talking to people online, learning about pens, watching videos etc. I have a couple of pens, but I'm curating rather than buying everything that's pretty. As hard as that is 😂 🤗❤️

Nibs are all ... I found this video as I had bought a Dentist nib, sort of blind, and was looking to see what they are all about :) Architect nibs are usually ground to match your personal writing angle, so yeah, you may have to experiment. Stephen's pens are a delight! Happy to find another pen channel at the bottom of the world!

Oh my gosh you guys do that cat's mother thing as well! I thought it was just when saying she while the person is standing there? As an American I cannot grasp the whole thing. Nice happy mail!

Hi Katie, I'm glad you enjoyed some of the pens, thought you might find them interesting. I am yet to try those ones. I am trying to ink up 2 new ones each month and get to know them a bit better. The Graf Von Faber Castell ink is usually a very saturated ink so I wonder if it was the pen/nib? Or maybe just because you dipped it? Who knows but its always good fun to work it all out LOL ;) I don't actually have a model number for the Hero or a box for it. Some of them came together in a box all mixed together. All I know is that its the brand Hero like you said. And with the Click Falcon pen I ended up changing the nib out and putting a Jowo medium on mine. Take care lovely :)

Oh my! I was surprised when you did the size comparison to an Estie! This pen may be too large for my liking. Piston fillers are quite sufficient, but better with bottled inks. Your pen has beautiful caramel and gray striations! My ink vote was for the Rabbit Mocha and I was sad that you didn’t have enough. You did a fabulous job problem solving for a beautifully inked pen! I am team Galen as well! They are an amazing small family company and I support them quite often! Enjoy writing with that beautiful pen!

Gorgeous! I love my piston fillers -- but, yes, they work better with bottles with larger openings than a sample vial. Ah, well. I think the italic nib suits your handwriting very nicely.

I am amazed, Katie, at how in just a couple of years you've seized the joy of writing with fountain pens. I completely resonate with your choice of "first reachers", noting, of course, that I have mine. What I particularly appreciate is that you let your pens be the best that they are. Would we love to write with Namiki Emperors? Sure! Maybe with kind permission at the owner's desk. I don't want to have to worry about it. But you let the joy of what we have shine through.

Lovely ink colors! While I don’t have any of these inks, I have some similarities. Do you store your pens nib down?

First day of Summer here in Texas, US. 🥵 We are twinning with your first two pens and inks. While my Moonman S5 isn’t currently inked, I almost inked it last week for #30inks30 days. I have ordered the HaraHara ink from JetPens. It will arrive with my Sailor Date Gokoro. Swatch video coming soon. While I haven’t paired LAMY Dark Lilac with my BENU Brown Orchid, it’s a great idea! I do enjoy the CM nibs on my Pilots Metropolitan and Prera. Yes, I am also amazed at the smooth nib performance on all of my Nahvular pen models. Dependable and enjoyable. Lastly, the ‘quick brown fox’ sentence is intended to use each letter of the alphabet once so you’ll want to use an s with jump. You’ll see this model when reviewing font styles. I’ve felt like that with my Pilot Kakuno this month. I had Pilot Nameki Black in it, wrote it dry and because I enjoyed it so much have decided to reink it with De Atramentis Hyacinth! Just wonderful to write with 😊

The quick brown fox jump" s" over the lazy dog is a pangram that means it has every letter of the alphabet inside of it ...If it were jumped we would miss out on the S :) Hope that helps <3

I love the esties so much. I’m a relatively new fan, as of Feb of this year. I own this one, it’s gorgeous. They’re a very substantial feeling pen. I understand the hype. Mine is inked w Diamine Oxford Blue, a fav blue black. Cool vid.

I used up a whole bottle of DeAtramentis Fog Grey. It reminded me of molten lead.

I love that lemon meringue yellow pen! I have a 10 pen case from GL that I really enjoy also. I recently got a Lamy 2000 at a good price from Endless Pens. I really like it…much more than I expected to since I don’t think it’s pretty, but it’s very comfortable and writes beautifully and its classic look is quite nice in person. I would like to try out some other nibs as well.

Great to see your video. Cursive italic are my favourite nibs. I was curious about the dentist nib but I think it would be too broad for me seeing yours as I have very small handwriting. I am in love with my galen leather fine CSI at the moment and reaching for that and my prera with its CM nib the most.

Have you ever looked at or tried anything from Rickshaw Bagworks? They're a favorite of mine for pen cases and bags. They have an amazing selection of fabric based products. 🪡

I look forward to your new nib experience videos. I do go through ink shade stages as well. Enjoying it all. It took me awhile to purchase the LAMY 2000, but it is my favorite “keeper” pen.
