MAKING A SIMPLE CERAMIC CUP
Просмотров 441 тыс.8 лет назад
In this video i'm making a simple ceramic cup from a 1 piece plaster mold. I started with filling the plastic cup with clay,to prevent it from flooting to the top. I also fill up the small edge of the cup. After that i applyd some release grease to the table. When the plaster is poured, you can take out the plastic cup in about an hour. Make sure to dry the plaster mold for a couple of days (or...
MAKING A SCULPTURAL CANDLE HOLDER
Просмотров 4,6 тыс.8 лет назад
I had an old slip-casting plaster mold which i was going to trow away. But i came to the idea to use the plaster mold for a small candle holder. To make it look like a sculptural candle holder, i dipped the plaster mold numerous times in the liquid plaster. Which formed a thick but still managable plaster layer on the mold. After that i sculptured it with my hands. (Which unfortunately wasnt ca...

    Why did the coloration disappear after you poured the resin? It all turned gold?

    • @bethfargo6663
      @bethfargo6663 2 года назад

      This happens because Bismuth is a very soft metal with a very low melting point. The colour of Bismuth is determined by the temperature the metal is at upon oxidation. As the resin cures it becomes hot due to chemical interactions between the Epoxy and the Hardener. This causes the Bismuth to essentially "begin" the melting process once more.

      @@bethfargo6663 what if he used a low temperature curing resin? Would that prevent decoloration?

    Noticed that he intentionally didn't give information about clay slip type ! However the ceramic clay slip powder can be bought the thing to keep in mind however is all of the ceramic clays must be fired in a kiln so if you don't have a ceramic kiln then you would have to focus on alternatives like making a 2 part mold and casting a cement version but you cant drink from it

    • @artoflife109
      @artoflife109 3 года назад

      You need to let the mold tottaly dry before another use. So usually you create one Mother mold and from it make few production molds. This way you can create many copies in one sitting
