One of the reasons to keep knives sharp is it damages the food you but less. This can lead to more of the food's flavor and nutrients making it into your mouth. In this video we explore this with apples.

No, you (probably) don't need new knives, you need to sharpen the ones you have. In this video, we'll dive into different knives, what's important in considering knives and why you probably don't need to drop a ton of money on new ones.

Love your videos. Would you consider making a video sharpening knives with bolsters? Thanks
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Where do you get the felt belt and blue compound?
I liked your video. Could you please tell me what that air filter is called, and where you bought it?
Tell us about the t-shirt you are wearing.

Very cool❤ have an amazing day ❤
More mk2 vids man🙏
You have good content and only one of a few that uses the KO machines. Hopefully you will produce more great videos in 2025. Thanks for all you do.
Thanks, that’s very kind of you.
Appreciating these videos, thanks. I haven't tried my WSKO yet, I'm still learning my TSPROF system. Take care...
Thanks. If you have any questions, shoot them to me and I'll make a video :)
To me it looks better without that huge plastic piece. I'll either cut it like you did or make an alternative angle indicator on my 3D printer.
I like your knife guide on the bench. Where can I get that from?
You can buy it from Work Sharp.
Mount the unit on a 2 inch board to raise the belt lock.
Brilliant!
I don't know why you bothered with this. The older edition is pretty much this without the cover that your cutting. Just leave the cover off. It works fine. The guts are almost the same.
I have many of the older version, but I was excited to try the new one. It has several features I really like and it's my everyday driver now.
This may be a stupid question, but can it not be run without the plastic guide attached?
The angle readout is on the plastic guide
Yes, but as Dave replied, that is where the angle guide is.
Nice video, I really appreciate the comparison. I'm certainly not going to use mine professionally, so the belt change shouldn't be an issue for me. You may find that the speed of changing the belt is mainly because you are so used to the MK1. Of course that says nothing of the possible leather belt, but still. Never mind, just saw your fix video.
The belts are a pain to change. It would be nice if they make a new cover. 2 options. Take cover off and just set it on machine when adjusting angle or cut down cover.
In another video, I fixe it. :)
I have the same set up , my machine vibrates and wobbles did you run into this?
I did not. Did you figure out what was causing it? Their service is great, so I'm sure they'll do you right.
There's a video on here of a guy cutting away most of the plastic to make it easier to change the belt. I don't think it's that bad anyway.
That was me :)
Not impressed with your ignorance of worksharp marketing perhaps you might go back a few years and search on "elite".
I use the Worksharp KO in my business as well. What do you use for Serrated knives.
I have a bench grinder and serration wheels from Cliff Curry

Fully agree with your decision of redoing the knife at no cost, also feedback from customers are very important to help us make the necessary corrections or to prevent it from happening in the future, thanks for sharing. 👍🏽
I like your microfiber drag-test for burrs, imperfections. Appreciate your sharing this, thanks...
you're welcome. hope it helps
How do you create a burr when you grind one side and then flip it over and grind the other side?
That is the most efficient way to raise a burr without taking too much metal away.
How do you go about getting customers since your module is mobile based do you just go around in the neighborhood and ring the door bell . Just getting in to this business here in Canada and find it difficult to reach out to the community. Any advice or guidance please. Many Thanks Khush
Hello. Mostly word of mouth, but I also do some advertising and a few other options. I offer what I call my 'Business in a Box' as a device to take care of all the business and marketing angles if you'd be interested. Even if you're not, I'm happy to help. email me at Nate@simplysharpatl.com
Not bad, you’re pretty much remaking the serrated knife, I mostly run into cheap knives with fine serrations or pocket knives, all I do is to fix the damaged tips and a light pass on the belt. Good job and thanks for the video 👍🏽
Thank you
How much cost to buy?
I think they're around $250ish now.
Euhem much?
Sorry, I don’t understand your question.
@@NateMansfield May i Euhem explain. Euhem i Euhem do not Euhem think Euhem you will Euhem understand Euhem but i Euhem will try Euhem. Got it?
Fun to play around! The beauty of the Tormek Is the guided system(and marketing for us too). I can train someone to sharpen consistently in a few hours, and the KS123 has made training even easier. All they have to do is move the guide bar from one of 6 Slipakniven H20 CBN 80/160/400/1000 equipped T8s, then either 250 mm leather or felt wheel. 4-6 min/knife depending on the required progression…..for a beginner😎
Love Cliff’s parts! I have a large rest I use for extra support and repeatability and wire wheel on dremel like Paul from Alexandria 😎
@@ruftime would you mind sending a pic of the rest to nate@simplysharpatl.com?
Yeah they should have just made it cast aluminum and lazer edged the reading and been done with it.
Excellent review

Do you have any info on the dust collection box?
@@markdamron3161 I made a separate video on it that includes the link to buy it.
Thanks for the hands on review! Practical experience after several months of usage is so valuable! What are your thoughts on heat and cooling with water? I own the Mk1 and usually dunk the knives in water between passes. Sometimes I can see bubbles forming near the edge from heat if I go too aggressively.
Thank you. If you are building up the tmuch heat between passes, you have too much belt speed and/or pressure. Low speed and light pressure is the way to go. I do carry a water bottle to wet a rag when I do tip repair.
It will be interesting to see how you integrate that into your mobile sharpening setup.
@@bwillan yeah, with my car I have the power, but space and dust will be interesting. Plus most mo my mobile guys just use battery packs. But I wanted to try it.
hella nice
Really good review. I can see why a professional would have the same issues with it that you do. For someone like me, casual home user, I think it's great. Until I watched this video I thought changing the belts was super quick and easy lol I guess its matter of perspective.
@@dmsmhic thanks! You’re totally right. If you’re not slammed with customers knives, this isn’t an issue.
Why caynt they put an adjustable reference plane that allows you to rest the blade on it while sharpening?
@@dmsmhic there’s quite a few people that make a 3D printed riser that may do what you’re suggesting. You’d have to search for it as I don’t have any links handy.
Because they Missed the Mark on This One. That is the OBVIOUS IMPROVEMENT THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE!
You mean modifying. Because fixing represents something that is broken needing a repair. This is your of your own choise to do this. That makes this a modification, not repair.
@@KnivesParacord I guess I should have made a before video titled “Fixin to modify the Work Sharp Ken Onion”.

Will this new attachment fit the mk1??
@@TheMightybasstone no.
Thanks for the video! I turned down a serrated knife yesterday because I didn’t have my tapered honing rod with me. I knew I had seen a video on how to do it on the Work Sharp but I couldn’t find the video and didn’t want to take a chance on messing it up. When I searched for it today it reminded me that I had seen yours and Clark Curry’s.
Thanks!
I think Gunny Juice is powdered diamonds of various grits. I make my own and it works very well.
I guess at Work Sharp they are expecting professionals to buy multiple machines, so they don't have to change belts while working. More consumption, more money etc.
I wasn't confident that I might destroy my plastic shroud, so I contacted WorkSharp, and they sent me a new shroud at no cost. Mod worked great! Thanks.
A couple questions come to mind from the video: - Any idea what the difference is between the blue and white compounds offered on currycustomcutlery? - Did you say the yellow abrasive cleaning sticks are not helpful with the work sharp system compared to a larger belt sharpening system? A video on how you reduce the bolster with the work sharp (workflow/belt preferences to try to match previous finish?) would be neat. Coming from the wicked edge system I didn’t offer that service in the past, so have a few practice knives I’m getting ready to jump into learning the process. FYI I checked with a digital angle gauge, and the front vs back reference surface were within 0.1 degrees of each other for me which was quite impressive. The rear one seems like less movement to reset reference on the knife (not sure how much you use the front reference edge either though so may not be relevant). Listened to the podcast episodes you did as well, those were neat to hear because i've been on a similar journey, glad to see others are doing the same and making it work!
@@bobekdj thanks. I cringe when I watch those, but do need to get more of the journey out there. I’m always happy to help. You can email me at nate@simplysharpatl.com if you have questions. No idea what the difference is, but the blue is much more effective than the white and cleaner than the green. The abrasive cleaning stick is awesome. I may already have a video on bolster reduction. If not, I’ll make one.
That bolster looks like it would be a problem. Doesn't look like the heel of the blade will contact the cutting board.
@@bretkoesser it for sure is a problem. I mentioned that I should fix it but didn’t for the sake of the video. It is repaired now.
Thanks for the shoutout! Good stuff, thanks for the update!!

@SimplySharp, any chance you want to post a response here or an update video since its been 2 months... Any problems with the mod you have run into? Things you would have done differently if given the opportunity? Appreciate the content, I am a new Work Sharp user (have used the WickedEdge and other systems for a long time)... Only a few knives into using the Mk2, but i'm amazed at what a stupidly sharp edge the Mk2 gives me even compared to the WE130... not to mention its a tiny fraction of the work needed to get that edge.
