Trying out oil pencils for the first time | Honest Review
Просмотров 362Месяц назад
I found some CretaColor oil pencils in my art supply stash and didn't know what they were. The packaging said oil pencils, so I was thinking they'd be like an oil pastel in pencil form. I found out that I am just dumb, and they are colored pencils...nothing fancy. Watch me play with these and learn that I am just a silly goose.

What do you do to seal in your undersketch for gouache paintings? Do you have any tips/tricks to share?
02:10 This lady is just _clueless_ as to what Bridgman was trying to show. He didnt put the lines connecting the cage to the legs FOR A REASON!!!! If you don't know what that reason is, you shouldn't be critiquing the book!!!!!!!!
I appreciate feedback, but I would ask that any feedback be respectful. My opinion is my opinion. I did not find the book useful for someone at my skill level.
you must have read the Murderbot Diaries?! Amazing.
I have not. Just did a quick google and they look very interesting. Will have to check it out. Now I am really curious why you thought I had (what weird quirk of my language have I inadvertently picked up from someone along the way)?
@@breamakesart4543 We seem to have a lot in common and if you read a lot of science (I do) and sci-fi/ fantasy-- this book series is amazing.
I will absolutely check it out! Thanks so much for the recommendation!
I love your sketchbook cover! The way you did the water looks so nice
Thank you so much! I really love it!
Looking forward to your view on Canada political crisis
It's not a political crisis...they have processes for this.
Looks great!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed watching.
How would you classify the French amx-10rc?
HI dave
Just looking into this now. Do you still use it love it?
To be honest, no. I think, if you do a lot of colored pencil, or alcohol marker work, it might be more useful. Or, if you are looking for some interesting color palettes, I could see it being more useful, but I am typically just winging it when coming to colors in a painting, drawing, etc.
@ thank you. I do a lot of adult coloring books with markers sometimes pencils, but I’ve just been looking up color palettes on Pinterest and Google free for color palettes so unsure what I’ll do. Thanks again.
In that case, maybe just get the digital version. It is really nice and very easy to use.
Two words nuclear combat
Three words: Not tonight, thanks!
i love the airplane! I oddly am an airplane lover
Thanks! Mechanical things are NOT my specialty, but I like the way that little sketch turned out.
Thank you so much for reviewing this. I have ADHD and was in two minds about the digital downloads, but now I understand what they do, I see they are almost more important to have than the cubes, and so will need the full package!
Honestly, I would argue that you could get JUST the digital downloads. I have the physical cubes, and I haven't really touched them since I purchased them more than a few times. Obviously, if you think you'd use the physical product, don't let me stop you, but I think the digital product is much better.
@ I actually read this after I purchased the complete package, as home decorating too atm - but I guess the portability of the digital sets are much more easier to use. It is then I shall be taking to the paint shop after all!
I hope you enjoy them!
Best channel for battletech lore!!!
Thanks Dave
Is this legal on RUclips?
Pretty sure.
There is always beauty in imperfection
Very true. However, I admire people who can draw these beautiful precise drawings. I love mandalas, etc. Though, I also know that those can hide little imperfections as well.
Uh… I don’t see any wobbly lines. It looks very polished to me!
Thanks! I see them...but maybe that is just from being so close to the art. We know that an artist is their own worst critic!
Very helpful. thank you.
Glad you found it useful! Thanks for watching!
9:12 reminded me about Arcane which I just watched!
I have not yet watched Arcane, but have heard great things about it! Thanks for watching!
all of the seascapes are incredible
Thank you so much!
I think you did a really good job....it turned out cute, but I was sitting on the edge of my couch till you finished!! LOL. Thanks for sharing
Thanks! It was a rough one, I am glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent ideas! Thank you.
Glad you like them!
Great ideas!
Thanks! Glad you liked them!
This is the second time today I've heard that phone stand recommended 🙂 I'll have to add it to my wishlist as a does look very handy!
I really like it. I kind of thought I’d get it and not really use it, but it is really nice. Sometimes I even use it to play tiktok while I am arting.
Thank You 😊
No problem! Glad I could help.
Where do you get the phone holder?
Oh...looks like I forgot to put a link to that in my description. I bought mine on Amazon: amzn.to/3Zy41AZ. I have updated the description as well.
I like the navigator sketch, and the way the horizon sketch turned out with the lines!
Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed!
LOVE THIS VID
Thanks! So happy you enjoyed it!
it's not cheating :)
Thanks! It always feels like cheating when I am just writing in there. I know there are no rules about how to use your sketchbook, but still feels like cheating when I am trying to get x pages done per month.
Thank you i didn't know how to use these products.
You’re welcome 😊 Happy to help!
❤ nice ❤
Thanks 🤗
hm feels like hot press paper? I think the glazing was smart- I think its cute!
Thanks!
try 'slip knot' binding. It has the same feel as kettle stitch but imo is easier and uses individual sheets like you have
I will have to look into that. I just don’t have any of the equipment I need to do any stitching/book binding.
That's awesome, could you please draw Nami and Robin in extreme Boa Hancock poses? I love Nami and Robin famous Hancock pose. Will Nami and Robin steal Boa's technique? I would like you to draw Nami and Robin in extreme boa poses 🔥💜🧡😍
Thanks for watching, but I am unfamiliar with Nami and Robin. Upon a quick google search it looks like they are anime characters, and I am not terribly versed in the anime style, so I don't think I could do it justice.
I always have a pan of white gouache in my palettes. I am a huge believer in it. I find gouache to do better than any watercolor white because it is more opaque. I don't have the patience to plan out my watercolor paintings to leave white spaces, especially in the wild. Have fun! I have that same little palette but I don't use it much because I have become obsessed with small palettes and have found the Mini Portable Painter one to be perfect for me. I do have several kinds, but most of them are home made. I find them fun to make and I am only limited by my creativity in what can be used.
I’ve seen the portable painters and they pique my interest, but since I don’t do a LOT of watercolor, especially on the go, I haven’t purchased one yet.
Thank you 😊
No problem! Glad I could help you save a little money.
The streaking can be remedied by coloring over the area again in another direction. Good luck with these fun new markets!
Thanks for the advice!
Very nice.
Thank you!
Thank you so much for your video. I can't wait to buy my set!!! 🎨💕
I will be honest. I like the set, but I don't use it a lot. I would recommend the digital version over the physical one, though the physical one is very pretty to look at.
its really nice! i wonder if my university has a similar contest---
Thanks! I have no idea if this is a common thing at universities. I know ours displays art all around, and lots of it is local artists, or employee art.
If you want to get a deep but rich black, I would mix Indigo and Burnt Umber. It makes a nice black, black but does not flatten the picture! Great job!
Thanks for the tip! I actually didn't have any burnt umber, or any browns really. I had to mix my own because my set of acrylics is pretty limited. If I am going to do more acrylic painting, I am going to buy myself a few browns, and probably in a fluid acrylic.
Cool!
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
I like it. I don't often use markers, but I'll try this!
Thanks! I think they are fun to play with sometimes, but they are not my normal go to.
Here’s me in awe as I draw my stick figure that hasn’t improved from first grade.
It just takes patience with yourself, practice, and a willingness to suck for a while.
The numbers on the bags are the DMC numbers. The letters and characters on a legend differ from image to image the DMC number always remains the same. For example the 310 is always Black. Many of us sort the stones by DMC numbers As a little tip if you don't want to touch the finished surface with your hand: Start at the top of the image and work down :-)
The bags had both the DMC numbers as well as numbers 01 - 18. I understand that the DMC numbers are consistent across all kits, but I imagine the 01 -18 were put on there for this kit in particular. I don't understand why the used numbers instead of the letters on the image. I didn't want to start at the top and work my way down because then my hand would be touching the sticky surface. It wasn't a big deal, but wanted to point it out for anyone that is sensitive to that sort of thing.
❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment!
It's 1am and I've ended up on the haul side of youtube. Glad to have found your video (+ i love your hair, it's very pretty!!)
Thanks! Glad I could entertain you!
Thank you so much for sharing... wonderful sketches 😊
Thank you so much 😀
Okay, the horses head is just not long enough- otherwise its fine and the skulls (my actual specialty) just need taller/ bigger calvaria- the bowl shaped top. But they are great!
Thanks! I knew it looked wonky. I tried making the face longer, but apparently still underestimated it.
It's funny because your sketchbook has so many of my hobbies in it! I b-danced for years and still lake classes, I research in Rome and paint ruins often, and I am a SCAdian and thinking about learning illumination (your vines stood out). Oh I work with bones and teeth so I love that teeth bottle and skulls. HA- worked in museums, cat momma, lots of tattoos. I love it!
Nice! Glad you are enjoying it. I love illuminated lettering, and the belly dancers are fun to watch and draw! I only have 1 tattoo, but my niece is a tattoo artist and I like to look at what she does and it inspires me to try out different designs just for funsies.
Ha- I don't draw that much but actually just did 3 ladies on a whim last night. The space between the head and shoulders is hard for me.
I can totally see that. Human anatomy is hard, and if you get it wrong, your drawings can easily look creepy! Wish I had a trick to get that space right. I have taken to making sure to draw a cylinder there to account for it, but sometimes I draw the head too far from the shoulders still, so they have a rather elongated neck.
